Gardner In, Pollard Out, Trufant Down

DE Robert Pollard has been released. Pollard only played in the most recent game against San Francisco.

The theories swell that the roster spot will be expended on a defensive back for the remaining Seahawks games, now that Marcus Trufant appears to have -- say it with feeling, everyone -- gone down to injury with a high ankle sprain.

Sando says former Titan CD Rich Gardner will be visiting Seattle today for an informational chat with those involved, and could be signed this week.

Update [2006-12-27 16:39:35 by Shrug]: The Seahawks have signed Gardner. Trufant is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game, which indicates that he'll be back on the team should they manage to squeak into the latter rounds of the playoffs.

this sucks
but I was really impressed with Jennings in the Chargers game, granted the chargers dont have a real great core of recievers, but he was still solid.

you know what REALLY sucks
the NFL playoff system. its unbelievable to think that possible 10-6 Dallas will have to TRAVEL to seattle to take on the possible 8-8 seahawks. even an idiot can see that something is wrong with that. look, i think the seahawks are a worthy playoff team and (obviously) division winners should get into the playoffs. but shouldnt the NFL just seed the teams according to record. division title could be a tiebreaker but it seems ridiculous that Dallas will have to travel to seattle. bottom line, i think division winners shouldn't be given a free pass to a better seed (and a guaranteed home game).

I kind of agree with you
but then whats the point of having divisions? Why not just have the AFC and NFC and its just the top 6 teams make it.

I don't entirely disagree.
I don't know if it's parity or what, or if I'm just a W-L snob, but I still bristle when I see a team make the playoffs with an 8-8 record. Especially when there are teams in the other conference that post better records and don't get in.

I realize it's a reality of the NFL and has been for a long time, but yeah, it secretly bugs me too.

lol
it's rock n'!! roll oldman!

But Seriously, I have the same feelings about going 8-8.  It just seems icky, for lack of a better term.  I won't be upset if we lose on Sunday, but man 9-7 would be better than 8-8.

Even 9-7 bugs me... a little.
I mean, double-digit wins, that just has so much prestige, y'know? A 10-6 Seattle team would have looked that much more foreboding.

But ya know. The numbers won't mean anything in the second season. It could be the greatest comeback story of all time. You never know.

Really, I'm not kidding. You honestly never know.

Stop looking at me like that.
