Post Your Hawk Week 4

Since I am in Minnesota til saturday I thought I would get this out of the way now.  The score guess?  Well that got out of hand.  The best player is a tie between Hamlin and Matthew.  So its a toss up.

Name the score of the game, your hawk, and his stats for da Bears.

Speaking of being in minnesota.  The sky is falling.  They are calling for Brad Johnsons head on the radio.  They seriously believe that Drew Henson will be the biggest steal of the offseason.  Its interesting to listen to their sports radio here as it is Go Twins, and wtf is wrong with their vikings.

My Hawk
Mac Strong.  2TDs and 31 yds rushing.  He will be a simple goal line, 3rd down back.

My prediction for the score is 21-9 Hawks.

Please Mr. Marshall, let the boys play in a 46 defense.

Re: Post Your Hawk
I think it's going to come down to the defense (I said the same thing last year...and was kinda right as Hamlin's two picks got the Seahawks going early). My 'Hawk is Kelly Herndon with two picks and a few key tackles. I was really down on Herndon last year, but he has improved a ton, and I gotta give him some love.

Score prediction: 20-13 'Hawks.

Honestly, it was between him and Strong for me
He is leaps and bounds ahead of last year.  He is the big bodied corner who can shut down the likes of a Mushin Muhammed.  I can see him with a sack this game for some reason.
Please Mr. Marshall, let the boys play in a 46 defense.

Oops.
When I said "last year" I meant "last week"

I haven't picked the right Hawk yet
But this week I'm gonna try and get it right with Peterson, who'll put the pressure on Grossman, to encourage him throw the picks phil has planned for Herndon.

I'm this close to saying the hell with it and picking MoMo.  We'll see if the Bears sleep on him.

Defensive game, and, along with our little trip to Mile High, one of the toughest on our schedule this year.  I'll say 17-10 Hawks.

My Hawk - D Jack 9 Catches 123 yards and 2 TD's (Gotta Keep him happy)

Score- 38-7 Seahawks (Big Risk Big Reward Score perdiction)

You guys are gonna hate me, but I'm stealing money from people to be as analytical as possible here... so my gut says... Chicago 20, Seattle 16.

Go read your guys comments
I don't think they realize how tough of a game it will be for you.

My preseason picks I had the hawks at 13-3. Losing this game is one of them but I am changing my mind

Were Seattle Fans were cautious cats about our teams because we haven't won a dam thing in seattle for 25+ years. I think you will be hard pressed to find fans that are more realistic than us.

There does seem to be
a fairly breezy confidence among a lot of the folks at the Bears' site.

This is going to be a tough game for both sides, and have a lot to do with who makes more mistakes - unless somebody manages to pull a brilliant game plan out of a hat.

Like I said, the Hawks are more likely to lose this game than any other game on the schedule - except maybe the one at Denver.

I'm looking at it like I looked at the Indy game last year, before it turned out that all the starters were being rested: pure curiousity.  I think we've got a hell of a good team, and I'm looking forward to getting a better sense of whether I'm right.

Denver?
The Bears are better than the Donks in every aspect of the game.  So for you to think that this won't be your toughest game is laughable.

As far as breezy confidence, perhaps.   Obviously, this is the best team that we will play in the regular season (not the toughest game as we have to travel to play the Giants).  Really, why should we be that worried?  Should we be in awe of the ass kicking you gave the Lions?  Wow 9 points!  Should we be nervous about the 4 #2 receivers you have on your squad (and thats a stretch as Ingram and Burrelson?  Blech)?  Or should we worry that your best player won't play?

Puhleeze.  We have every reason to believe that we'll win this game.

Relax
Yes the Bears are better than the Donks.  But Mile High's a tough place to play.  I had our game at Arrowhead as another tough one but the Chiefs are in freefall.

The best opponent we face all year may be San Diego, but we get them at home.

It's only week 4.  Too early to say who's really the toughest in the league yet.  And that includes your Bears and my Hawks.

Every post I've read from you thus far really puts a bad taste in my mouth not only about Bears fans, but about Chicago itself.

Remember bro, you are an ambassador for not only your team, but the geographic area you come from. Talking smack like this on our turf isn't making my impression of Chicagoans any better.

Its internet shit talk.  You really take this seriously?  Dude, at this site there is a video of a cat humping a stuffed bear.  C'mon and grow a sense of humor.

If the Bears win you won't hear shit from me, cause I ain't that type of guy.  But if the Bears lose I'll be all over this blog willing to take any shit you throw at me.

Dude, its a football game.

Jes' trash talkin'
Field Gulls allows trash talk as long as it doesn't lapse into abuse. Our Illinois friends haven't come anywhere close to that.

I think he is relaxed
he was just venting I mean come on were frustrated Mariner fans here and I just got news that Hargrove may be back next which makes me want to punch a baby panda in the head I love trash talk as long as it doesn't extend past the game itself. Where either side goes to the other blog and rubs it in

by Scruffy Lefty on Sep 28, 2006 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions

2 things...
  1. I don't condone animal abuse but that panda punching is hilarious.
  2.  Don't complain about the Mariners, I'm a Cub fan.  You're pain is like a pin prick compared to the gaping puss filled hole in our chests that expose the bloody hole where our hearth used to be.
  3.  And rubbing it in is for dicks.  If the Bears win, you won't hear from me again, less we meet in the playoffs.
Ok I lied.  that was three things.

disclaimer
You're right about the Cubs and their long-term suffering.

In one of my two diatribes inspirational essays about Why Seahawks Fans Need To Get Over The Super Bowl Referee Issue, I made a point about Chicago being a sports town that knew all about suffering (unless you follow the NBA), and that had developed a tough hide because of it. It's always "next year" for the Cubs, and that's not meant as a swipe. It's how they look at the future. It's made Chicago a more knowing and devoted sports town. They have a history that just goes farther back than Seattle. I think it's a fine history to try and emualte. I hope we beat Chicago on Sunday, but I respect their fans.

Maybe that's why I'm sorta wussy about this whole trash-talking thing. Or it could be my living in Chicago for ten weeks in 2001 and thinking that the people I met there were some of the nicest I'd ever met. I admit I'm very fond of the town. I almost moved to Chicago permanently, in fact. But I think there's more for me here.

Anyway, that's all. Might be a glad-handing wuss to some, but y'know. Life's too short to be an asshole all the time. In certain applications it's okay, but not all the time. Steve Bartman told me that.

but i was at the seahawks-giants game sunday and its was one of the classless groups I had ever seen.  This includes all new york groups and most of the south, and this shit talking going on in seattle is anything but cautious.  have whatever taste you want in your mouth, but you are living in a glass city.

I think I am a little more realistic than some of the other guys coming over from WCG. (Nice site by the way) I spent a great deal of last year trying to figure out how the heck the Seahawks kept winning. Once I finally got a chance to watch them I was impressed. Winning on the road in the NFL is a very difficult thing. I am fairly confident in the Bears ability to find a way to pull this one out because it will be at Soldier Field in front of a crowd that will undoubtedly by pumped up. It's going to be a very close game. If this were in Seattle I'd probably give the Seahawks the slight edge. Being in Chicago as I already mentioned, however, I give a slight edge to the Bears.

Don't worry, I won't linger around your site. I just wanted to toss in my .02 worth since a few other guys were.

Hawk of the week...
Mo Morris.  He's going to make the most of his chance.  Over the last couple of weeks when the regular running game hasn't done squat, Mo's still managed to get something out of nothing.  Week 1, his last run set up the winning field goal.  Week 2 he caught (literally snatched) a pass over the middle on a crossing route that led to another Seahawk touchdown.  Week 3 he was the driving force behind Jeremy Shockey's insanity by telling the Seahawks defense to change things up and show formations the Giants hadn't prepared for.

It's all Mo.  235 total yards, 5 touchdowns.

DAMNIT!
