christ....it was tipped
'You have to wonder if that's caused by his ribs?'
That's some specious reasoning there.
TAPP!!!
Shitty half...
First Half Cap:
I think maybe Holmgren should take the reins play calling. They're abandoning the run, that's not good. Get Morris back involved. Pick your spots with Alexander. If Seattle's rushing attacking shows life in the second half, Seattle should be able to finally put an opponent away, but nothing the Hawks have done so far screams contention.
The defense, though, which is fairly young and fairly deep is playing very well. I'm starting to think we should sign Tru. Sean Locklear is going to be paid like a starting left tackle, so he's gone. Tru would make sense. He's young, he a good character guy and he's developing into an upper level cover corner. The Hawks have the kind of young defensive core, especially if they sign on the cheap a healthy but devalued Marcus Tubbs, to at the very least mollify the decline. If Beck holds up, Seattle has a premium draft, drafting starters at RT, RB and possibly TE, they make a little noise next season.
Oh yeah, and maybe a new defensive coordinator. I have no problem with the little guy thing, I think that's more Tim Ruskell than John Marshall anyway, but the blandness of the blitzes, the weird use of zones on every third down despite having two excellent cover corners and overall uninspired play of a very talented defense on third down reeks of coordinator error.
The Hawks shouldn't blitz.
I would like to see Holmgren take over the O-Coordinating thing one more time. You can tell he devised the first series, the Hawks run it a bunch, mix up the touches, pick their spots throwing. Since then it's been bad decisions leading to bad down and distance leading to a bunch of stalled drives.
Adjusting expectations for the season is important to enjoying it. The best case scenario for the Hawks is a historical blowout at the hands of the Patriots in the Super Bowl. That would take a couple miracles and three Josh Brown sightings.
The Hawks need a whole new coaching staff--they'll get it. Providence be with you Tim Ruskell.
Yeah, we're not from Ford.
I'm pretty sure that guy really is going to get shot in Prison Break. What suspense!
how much time is left?
Cowboys-Vikings is a good game... though Dallas just tied it on a Barber run. Peterson hasn't been spectacular, though.
thanks
Tapp is going off.
Defense looks awesome. Great pressure.
Hass will have an easier time with Pollard, Branch and Hackett back after the bye. Maybe Alexander will get a PT demotion. Theres enough time for the powers that be to come to their senses regarding their former MVP.
from what I heard on Mitch
Fumble recovery in the red zone and we can't get a TD? lame
what the hell was that Shaun??
dammit I hate the cowboys
Man, I thought I beat the Alexander thing into...
Just one series, nothing but Morris and Weaver. Run the ball. Try it. Please.
First, first down since the second quarter.
Honestly, if Alexander finishes with less than...
As long as the shit eatting grin doesnt come out, which i know it will, i will be alright.
Haha - SEG I like it.
What? a run that gained yards?
Is there anything past done?

and nice commercial Shaun.
Why do we call that shit?
Holmgren calls the plays

Somewhere, I'd like to think Holmgren is thinking.
Why, since then, have we looked like a bunch of parasites, living off our defense?

Bears about to beat the Eagles
wow
But this Alexander bashing is ridiculous. Alexander is obviously struggling, but if you guys can remember last year when Morris DID HAVE A FULL STARTING GIG, he didn't exactly impress. I mean, is everyone just totally forgetting this? Sure he's faster and quicker, but he didn't exactly prove himself when he had the shot.
And don't let the 10 fewer carries things fool you, i think most of us remember Chester Taylor in Baltimore. You know, the guy who had over 6 yards a carry when he received the occasional carry, got a big contract, and now he's 2nd string to Adrian Peterson?
Yea.
Alexander has been a very big success in Seattle sports, watching him run today, he showed better quickness than in previous games, but it's obvious he's struggling, we all already know that. Let Morris and Weaver get more carries, sure that's a good idea for a running game that isn't running at all. But i don't think it's fair to say say that Morris with 15-20 carries a game is going to be any better than he was last year when he had that shot.
Are you delirious?
Morris showed that when he gets starter carriers he can be a effective back (20+)
by Scruffy Lefty on Oct 21, 2007 4:31 PM PDT up reply actions
Its weird
He looked better didn't he? But it was nice to see Morris more early
ok ok..
600 yards, 3.8 yards per carry and no touchdowns. That's with the absence of Alexander.
I know it's easy to get impatient, and with Alexander not producing, it's easy to look to the next option, but 'realistically', it's not just a given that he's the ONLY problem in the running game.
Morris had 9 carries for 20 yards minus his 1 big 21 yard gain.
Alexander had 30-plus yards taken away on holding penalties.
It's easy to tweak the stats the way you want, but Alexander isn't the only problem in the run game.
Alexander only got that big run
I'm not going to say he didn't look better because I think he did. But he is now starting to become a problem. Disagreeing with the coach doesn't do anyone good especially with Holmgren being a nice guy that would be willing to listen to Alexanders displeasure. Honestly I think they should of just ran the ball 3 times with alexander in the red zone on that last drive because I wanted to see if alexander really had anything left. But you can't make a vocal statement on the sideline.
by Scruffy Lefty on Oct 21, 2007 4:36 PM PDT up reply actions
ok
all i'm trying to say is this, with that plus another 10 yard carry he had later in the game he'd be at the 75-80 yard range. Still not good in my opinion.
but if you're going to look at his stats that way, look at Morris' that way as well.
again 9 carries 2 yards= 2.2 ypc. that's what Morris had minus the 1 carry for 21.
If you want a consistent run game, for every 10 carries if 1 is going to net 20 yards and the other 9 net another 20, i don't think that's going to solve the problem.
well if you use that math
I gotta run but we can all agree on one thing. We have a problem running the ball
by Scruffy Lefty on Oct 21, 2007 4:53 PM PDT up reply actions
Morris was much better than you think last year.
Week 6 @STL W 30-28 23car 74yd 3.2avg
Week 9 OAK W 16-0 30car 138yd 4.6avg
Week 10 STL W 24-22 21car 124yd 5.9avg
When he gets the chance, he is a better option than Alexander, especially this season. The plays Morris gets carries on do not have the same variables as the plays Alexander gets.
You have to be out of your mind to think Alexander is getting the job done.
Fair enough
And i would be out of my mind, but don't read my posts with an opposing mindset. I'm not trying to say Shaun is fine, good, or even mediocre. But what i am trying to say is that Morris didn't exactly prove to me that he is the answer in the run game. I'm admitting he can be a productive and positive addition to the run game, but 3 games of 20-plus carries against 3 teams who struggled last year does not prove to me he is the obvious answer.
Am i delerious?
Chester Taylor is running with Briant Mckinnie and HUTCH on the left side. And i mean, i guess you're right, they were obviously comfortable enough with Taylor as their starter. That's why they used a top 10 pick on another back when they had OBVIOUS need areas besides RB. Pleaaase.
Morris is a nice change of pace back, and has starter potential, but the facts don't lie, he has never, even with starter carries proven he is an elite back.
Again, starter carries last year:
600 yards, 3.8 ypc and 0 td's. At least Shaun put points on the board.
Its cause you take the best player available
And no one ever said Morris is a elite back. But he is the back that is going to consistently get us in more managable situations on 2nd and 3rd down.
Really? Did you watch a game last year? Or read anything we have said about how we want the team to use Morris?
Seattle consitently threw the ball in the red zone or used Strong because they didn't believe Morris is a good goal line back. WE have never stated that Alexander shouldn't get the goal line carries.
by Scruffy Lefty on Oct 21, 2007 4:44 PM PDT up reply actions
of course i watched a game
I'm not sure why i'm getting the response from people as if this is an argument, i never said anyone on here said Shaun should not get goal line carries, nor did i say he was doing well. My point is that i feel like our line, plus some more consistency in our passing game could really benefit ANY back in our system.
As far as the Vikings, congrats on the best tandem in football. My point was simply that they had other needs.
I think my amazment by the vikings comment
But hey we should be happy. I mean the hawks spanked the Rams with almost no offense.
