Bank Of America Stadium
FOX
It's a rematch of the 2005-06 NFC Championship game, drama quotient much lessened. Not sure who's starting at QB for the Panthers -- either relative newbie Matt Moore, or Wilford Brimley.
Commentary here and at our Panthers blog, Cat Scratch Reader, which incidentally is my favorite blog title in this whole SBN ecosystem. Let's see who's really Double Live Gonzo, and who will suffer a Death By Misadventure. Wango Tango. Wango Tango, indeed.
(Apologies to all those born after 1975. I don't feel we got to ch-ch-ch-change.)

Fixed.
Good thing that wasn't already taken...
<-- Peeling myself off couch and heading to bed.
Not taken period, it looks like
heading up to charlotte right now...
i sure hope our guys come out with their foot on the gas rather than with their foot on cruise control.
not wearing my Hasselbeck today
This game probably means nothing, I highly doubt we catch Green bay, but I would still like a W. 10 wins just feels so much better than 9.
I really should just sleep in for this game
Field Gulls
Christian Fauria
Wow.
Hell if the Panther's farted in Gray's general direction he'd move out of the way...
yay
Great stuff, really.
Terrill
Well shit.
holy crap
I thought Kasay was still money.
dotcom
So even though Mo go more carries last week
Is this trying to make Shaun feel better, or has Mike really not learned?
Hmmm.

thanks for showing a replay Fox
frabjous day
This was like any week leading up to a game involving the Panthers, except without Sean Salisbury doing some obligatory Jake Delhomme ballwashing.
Sheesh, this is an icky start.
Haha

Another eff-you.

I love when Alexander splits wide...
asldfkjasdlkfjasdlkf
They can't stop the short passing game, why help them?
stutz was a goon
but hey...
That's just as good as the reason Bill Bavasi picked up Ramon Santiago a couple years ago: "he can pick it up and throw it."
This is inspired...
plaque
Of course, the likelihood of good Plackemeier punts in the next quarter against the prevailing wind is probably not good.
Is he that dumb?
Foster fumbles
Classic fox
ten seconds left on the clock, and that WILL BE the last play of the first quarter.
Because that fact is what people were wondering about.
This game is putting me in a surly mood.
dammit
nice tackle by Russell
It's not that I don't want them to run with Shaun
FLAG
what was the penalty??
I don't know if you can fault Babs on that last on
3rd and 19
These Carolina fans
And no, pbp idiot, they're booing 'cause they thought that was late hit. Because they are dumb. like you.

One thing Fox
Seriously, have some pride in your job and learn something about (a) football and (b) the teams you are paid to cover.

First Half Cap
On the plus side, the Hawks have shutdown the Panthers rushing attack and Moore is some semblance of pass rush away from immolation. Whatever the offense does, the defense should be able to cave in on this rice paper thin offense. So, short of disaster it would be very hard for the Hawks to lose this. Unfortunately, the offense looks primed to provide that disaster.
The offense has jumped into the way-back machine, forgotten every lesson of the last 5 weeks and decided to do their best to make this a matchup. I have given Holmgren a hard time, but I never expected this. Frankly, it's an embarrassment. One, I thin--eh, hope, will be corrected during the half. Holmgren is better than this. Post decline Holmgren is better than this. Take the field to start the half, run the ball with Morris to the left. Give your D some sort of edge and watch them throw Moore and the Panthers' O into the thresher.
The Hawks still have an outside shot of getting a bye. Hook the coaching staff to an IV of Geritol and let's get this shit done. Sea-HAWKS!!
that was a little ticky-tacky on the PI
wow
that was the worst play call I've ever seen
WHAT THE FUCK

Then why the hell does he keep playing S.A.?

Going for it is fine, but I feel like the last 5 times somebody has tried to run on 4th and short, it's about a total of -10 yards.

John Kasay makes a 55 yarder
Maybe a huge play from Christian Fauria?

The part of me that buys into
thinks that that field goal might be what we needed to wake up.

two-minute warning
Seattle has all three of their timeouts remaining.
Any guess as to how Mike Holmgren will mangle the clock management here?

Hey, meaningless points.
How do you recover an onside kick and keep running it?
Who cares?
haha
God I hate Matt Moore
maybe the 4th seed would be better
well hey
Third seed or bust.
I had an inkling before that it might be a trap game, but it doesn't matter now.
well yet again we prove that we can't play
by man on soap box on Dec 16, 2007 12:49 PM PST reply actions
oh well, it happens
deception
Now it's more like a 9-5 football team, except with all the feel and heartache of a 7-7 football team. It makes for good copy, I guess.
lots of blame to go around
Still, it's not like the offense got clicking soon enough.
Sickening. You'd like to minimize the number of these games over the course of the year, but between this loss, the Arizona loss, and the New Orleans loss...
I can almost deal with the Pittsburgh loss just because it was hilariously bad and they didn't show up against a high-calibre team. They just didn't have it, and there was no way it was going to be in the cards. The above three losses I mentioned, those all hurt, and they're all games that should have been won.
