6 Hawks going to the Pro Bowl!!

Proud day for the Hawks as 6 players were announced to the Pro Bowl.

Hasselbeck
Jones (big shock)
Kerney
Peterson
Tatupu
Trufant

A great list and I think all of them deserve it.  I'm really glad Hasselbeck made it, with no running game Matt was awesome.

All 4 defensive players are starters. Oh and I hate the Mariners.

Great for all the Hawks!
Is anyone else suprised that Urlacher didnt get in? I was pretty shocked by that!

by Babar on Dec 18, 2007 2:11 PM PST   0 recs

Peterson huh?
That's a little surprising.

name and sack totals for a LB
plus 2 int

Hes had a good year even though most of it came at the beginning

V. 1.0, mutherf***er, know what I'm sayin'?

yeah, pretty much what scruffy said
In hasn't done much as of late, but he's had a good season. I think he deserves it.

The only player I would probably question is Jones.  Although if there is one player in the league who deserves to make it on reputation it's Big Walt.

Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

Tackle
Seems like tackle, because of the lack of widely known stats for the position, is based almost entirely upon reputation.  Even though it seems most knowledgeable observers say that Walt has slipped some in the last couple years, there's still a lot of people out there who've heard various TV announcers say Walt's a stud.  Which, of course, he was, and still is, but to a lesser extent.

That's great about Trufant, except that it drives up his price after this year.

Prediction: Leonard Weaver in the PB in 2009.

Sean Taylor also was voted in.

by Thingray on Dec 18, 2007 2:39 PM PST   0 recs

That's fantastic.
I'm thrilled and relieved they recognized Hasselbeck's heroism this year, but I'm stunned and shocked that we have 4 defensive starters. That's more than I expected at the beginning of the season, and I expected a lot from the defense. That's cool.

Except I'm disappointed Josh Brown was not named a reserve linebacker.

Kinda off-topic
Does anybody know what's the best way to get Hasselbeck to autograph my jersey?

My friend, who's a transplant from Bellevue to Sacramento, would love nothing more than an autographed Hasselbeck jersey.

Perhaps at the game?  But how do I go about getting the probowler to autograph for me?

Hamlin
Jesus, Ken Hamlin is gonna be in the Pro Bowl.  So, the guy who's departure, in part, made Trufant's trip to the PB possible will be playing alongside him in the PB.

Here are the six 'Hawks going to the Shitsnack Bowl, held in Hoquiam, Washington opposite the Pro Bowl.  Players are selected based upon their poor play/performance:

Coach Holmgren
Shaun Alexander
Brian Russell
Jordan Babineaux
Boone Stutz (out of retirement)
Chris Gray

Honorable mention: Stump Mitchell

Announcing crew: a poo stew of all of the announcers for the Seahawks games this year.  Tim Hasselbeck plays QB for the 'Hawks, non?

by jeager on Dec 18, 2007 4:13 PM PST   0 recs

Hamiln plays for Dallas and has 5 INT
it doesn't really surprise me even though its bullshit

Who is the alternate S for the NFC
Because Taylor passed away their going to need another S. I dunno who the best Safeties in the NFC are, but maybe Grant could end up going.

by joeshow30 on Dec 18, 2007 5:45 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Very Funny
But I'm pretty sure it would be held in Husky Stadium. :)
Coming up on FOX, it's East/West, the Shaun Alexander story.

by SSreporters on Dec 18, 2007 6:08 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Also
Nate is the alternate KR/PR guy. I don;t think he can go unless Hester cannot though.

No Engram?

A top 10 receiver in the NFL a year removed from Graves Disease?

Maybe he's an alternate?

Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

If anybody got snubbed
it's Marques Colston

more yardage AND TDs than Engram.

Not by much though
But I do agree that he got snubbed. Driver and Holt should of been replaced by Bobby and Colston

oh shut up
engram is a top 25 receiver at best.

don't make me go in to how you guys OVERRATE your receivers.

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 19, 2007 6:59 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

in fact

randy moss

torry holt
greg jennings
marques colston
larry fitzgerald
braylon edwards
reggie wayne
chad johnson
tj houshmandzadeh

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 19, 2007 7:04 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

Its not about his history
its about what he has done this year. List 4 better recivers than him this year in the NFC
V. 1.0, mutherf***er, know what I'm sayin'?

by Scruffy Lefty on Dec 19, 2007 7:20 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

easy
terrell owens
torry holt
marques colston
larry fitzgerald
donald driver

okay so maybe it wasn't so easy, but those five guys are easily better than engram.

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 19, 2007 7:26 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

Are you on crack
Driver isn't having a better year

Niether is Holt
V. 1.0, mutherf***er, know what I'm sayin'?

by Scruffy Lefty on Dec 19, 2007 10:45 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

yes he is
and your kidding yourself if you think engram should replace holt.

holt: 83 receptions, 1055 yards, 12.7 avg/rec, 75.4 yards/game, 7 TDs

driver: 78 rec, 1016 yards, 13 avg/rec, 72.6 yards per game, 2 TDs

engram: 85 receptions, 1013 yards, 11.9 avg/rec, 72.4 yards/game, 5 TDs

yeah, the TDs arent't there for driver, but the stats are better for both driver and holt in every category except receptions. holt also has played in four games not lead by his starting QB. colston should replace driver.

come on scruffy, you're smarter than that.

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 19, 2007 3:35 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Zing!
DPAR:

Bobby Engram - 27.1 (7th, 3rd in NFC)
Torry Holt - 25.8 (8th, 4th in NFC)
Donald Driver - 23.3 (11th, 6th in NFC...behind his teammate Greg Jennings)

DVOA:

Bobby Engram - 17.9% (15th, 5th in NFC)
Torry Holt - 16.9% (20th, 9th in NFC)
Donald Driver - 14.2% (22nd, 10th in NFC)

woo hoo!!
Engram rocks, suck it seattlesucks.
Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

by MFAN on Dec 19, 2007 5:34 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

no
i refuse to acknowledge that engram is having a better year than holt. see my post below.

I gave you Holt
see my post below.
Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

by MFAN on Dec 19, 2007 5:36 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

okay okay
so driver maybe isn't having a better year than engram. his teammate jennings isn't far behind though.

as for holt, he is hurt by not being lead by bulger all year. all things considered, it shows a lot about him that he's still putting up top ten numbers this year. he's still the better receiver, period. ask the other 29 sb sites here (no charger blog, leave this one and turfshow times out) who'd they'd rather have and i bet all 29 will say holt.

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 19, 2007 5:34 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

I do agree on Holt
he's played with pretty bad talent around him and a QB carousel with included Brock freakin' Berlin.

Holt deserves the pro bowl appearance.

Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

by MFAN on Dec 19, 2007 5:36 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

thank you
that's all i care about.

driver should be replaced by marques colston, engram maybe just maybe should sneak in there as an alternate.

engram was helped by playing with hasselbeck all year, who has just been awesome.

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 19, 2007 5:39 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

thats cool
I really don't have a problem with the wide outs that are going to the pro bowl, it's not like Joe Horn or Darrell Jackson got in.

I still think your underrating Engram a tad, it's not all Hasselbeck, Burleson is playing with Hasselbeck and he's been average to below average this year.  Deion Branch has been good but not great.

Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

by MFAN on Dec 19, 2007 5:43 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

But the PB is a ceremonial award...
List 5 guys better than Engram w/ a better story, too. I really think he will get in once the usual wave of "I don't want to go - I mean, I'm injured" players get sorted out.

by John Morgan on Dec 19, 2007 8:33 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

I Think
The lack of touchdowns was critical for Engram. Zero Jaguars players made it....what a joke.

by Scruffy Lefty on Dec 18, 2007 7:38 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

Why Engram didn't make it
The Hawks have 6 receivers who have caught for over 200 yards. When Hackett has been around he has been the most productive. Branch has also been productive when in there. Engram was hugely productive during the span where Hackett and Branch were both out. Burleson, Pollard, and Weaver have also consistently caught the ball. Dallas has 5 over 200 yards and GNB only 4.

While Engram was a true #1 receiver for a few games this year due to injuries he showed that he is as good as it gets at making plays. Unfortunately, the hawks prefer to spread the ball around to four or more receivers in the same game. I think this is great and there are few or no NFL teams that can handle Engram, Hackett, Branch, and Burleson all at once. Of course this puts a lot of pressure on Matt to make a lot of reads quickly, and on Weaver to pick up the LB blitz.

Engram has a great story and has played insanely well this year, but is just not in a system designed to produce 'pro bowl' receivers.

Top to bottom I would say this is arguably the best group of receivers (Engram, Hackett, Branch, and Burleson) in the league. That is, except for probably Moss, Welker, Stallworth, and Gaffney (although its close).

by michaelfox99 on Dec 19, 2007 10:34 AM PST   0 recs

are you effin' kidding me?!?!?
the best receiver corps in the league? stop kidding yourself.

by stlcardinalsfang on Dec 19, 2007 3:37 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

I'd put
Green Bay, Dallas, Arizona, possibly Cincinnati above Seattle at this point. It's a little hard to evaluate because of the Hackett injury.

If I were voting I'd pick Engram, but that's because I'm a Seahawk guy. Holt more than deserves it this year.
