Draft Day 2: Open Thread
Notice something about my posting times? No, I'm not the living dead or some sort of cyborg built for blogging. I just didn't get much sleep last night. My crazy neighbor decided to have a psychotic freak-out before being arrested beneath my bedroom window a few minutes ago. Ah, Rosemere, do you ever disappoint?
Here's a round-up of links of interest for this too early morning: Mike Tanier is a decent analyst if you can stomach the jokes. Here's his and Michael David Smith's, from the FO crew, take on rounds 1-3. I don't agree with everything they say, but a point argued intelligently is always worth something.
The Jackson trade still seems to be on, pending a physical.
Festivities begin again in half an hour. I may be here, I may be asleep, I may be outside telling myself to shut-up, repeatedly clearing my throat and yelling non sequitur profanities. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
[Update: Oakland drafts Michael Bush with the first pick of the fourth round. I think almost any team in the NFL would have made that move. That's a terrible offense, so don't expect any eye-popping numbers right away, but Bush is a special talent.]
Update [2007-4-29 14:2:45 by Shrug]: The Darrell Jackson trade to the 49ers is now official. Seattle gets San Francisco's 4th round pick.

So the 4th round pick we get
Well if we get Boss that'd be ok because Boss would help the team more than DJack, unless we plan on using 5wr sets a lot

the D-Jack trade is offical
I'm warming up to this deal a bit, im still not a big fan, but it's clear Ruskell didn't want Jackson on this team, so if he feels a 4th rounder is good value then I will take his word for it.

About the TEs or Herring
Kind of like a fantasy draft, where 2 years ago, I was in a league where everyone forgot about Beltran, and I got him in the 4th round. Sure he should've gone in the 2nd or 1st, but I waited until the spot that he was probably going to be taken, just a bit before.

by LantermanC on Apr 29, 2007 12:44 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Ok, I'm back.
At this point, I think Seattle will be looking guard next year, too.
Courtney Taylor is a west coast specialist. Not much upside, basically practice squad depth.
Will Herring is an intriguing athlete. I'm not sure exactly where he fits in on the roster, but he might be, as everyone seems to suspect, being drafted to work in passing situations. You know the MO: undersized, quick, good character guy.

Dang, Patrick got picked
by Coach Owens on Apr 29, 2007 1:28 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
So I'll be back when we make our next pick.
Monday, I'll run down Seattle's draft. Ruskell has once again found value late in the draft, but our offensive line really worries me. Ruskell can't really think that Gray is the solution at right guard.
Tuesday, I'll recap our division rivals. The Niners look like the big winners. I wasn't convinced they'd be contenders next year entering the off-season, but, boy, they've sure improved.

He's a beast, Great character, lifts a lot, can dunk, is decently athletic, he'd be AWESOME. He's tough as nails, very physical, and is a relentless rebounder, which I think will translate well on the football field.

Also, maybe we just don't need a tight end as much in Holmgren's new system.
I mean, a guy can evolve right? And you know More will be helping with the offensive coordinating, too.
