Holy smokes
For as worked up as we’ve all gotten over the defense, 25th for the offense? Twenty-eighth for the passing game?
Ouchie.

look on the bright side!
NYG looks pretty freaking amazing. Our opponent next week is not toting one of the best DVOAs ever.

In football, a Mike Hampton/Carlos Silva cannot happen.
Thank god for unguaranteed contracts.

The strength of schedule ratings are disappointing too
20th most difficult schedule through week 5, but the 8th toughest from here on.
29th ranked pass defense. Seems about right. More interesting is the complete reversal of last year’s secondary rankings.
Seattle was what, 6th best in the NFL versus the opposing team’s #1 receiver in 2007? This year, they’re 29th. They’re ‘better’ against everybody else (26th and 27th for 2nd and ’others’). This is concerning, and while it might be SSS theater, it really does seem to indicate something fairly systemic.

I really, really hope so
Because if it’s not, I’m going to have to make it a point to get more drunk before kickoff as the season progresses.
