AQA Podcast
This is the thread to post questions you'd like addressed during the podcast. It gives me insight into what people are thinking and time to create an informed response. Whatever the interest, I'm continuing the podcast because though it's rough now I think it has potential. I'm considering before next season finding a cohost. Some banter would be nice.

Packers
Hey John,
These are pretty basic questions that you would likely address w/o the post but just in case:
At first glance it looks like we have an advantage in the running game but could have our secondary get torched, advantage Packers? Also, the Packers move their WRs around, who has the best chance of staying close to Jennings?
Looking forward to the podcast, keep up the excellent coverage.

Secondary
OK, so you’ve made the argument that the performance in the secondary has more to do with scheme than talent. How do the Seahawks go about adjusting the scheme to take advantage of the talent they have? And, going forward, is John Marshall the right guy, or is there another guy out there who specializes in a scheme that would better take advantage of the guys that are here?

Cornerbacks and Coaches
John-
Two matters that I’d like to hear your opinion on:
First, Kelly Jennings versus Josh Wilson at right cornerback. Jennings is getting burned for major yardage — would Josh Wilson be considered an upgrade at this point, or can we expect Jennings to show short-term improvement?
Second, I’d like to hear your take on Steve Kelley’s 10/8 article in the Seattle Times about how it was a mistake to let Jim Zorn depart in favor of handing the head coach position to Jim Mora. And, WR injuries aside, are Hasselbeck’s struggles attributable to Zorn’s absence?
The podcasts are a great addition to Field Gulls — keep up the superb work.

Two questions
You said the Seahawk D was more suited for a fire zone 4-3 but is playing more of a tampa 2. Can you elaborate some on what a fire zone defense is and how it differs from a tampa 2 from a line play perspective?
What the hell happened to Kelly Jennings? I loved the guy last year, he showed very good coverage skills and it seemed like as the season progressed he was finding ways to compensate for his size. Is this a kind of sophomore slump that he’s going through in his second year starting? Is it common for corners to do that? Is he being picked on more after Trufants pro bowl year? What’s going on???

To elaborate on the Jennings thing
There was a report out a few weeks ago that he was playing with a broken rib (suffered week 2 against San Francisco). Is there any reason this might be slowing him down on coverage?

With Hass still nursing his injured knee, do you think we'll see more running plays
on Sunday especially since the Packers have one of the best corners in football in Al Harris who absolutely kills us every time? Or should we expect the usual amount of passing plays despite Hasslebeck’s injury? What is Green Bays defense like? Just looking over this week’s DVOA numbers, it sounds like they’re good (12th) but I’m not sure exactly how good they are. Specifically, how good is their run defense vs. their pass defense?

Al Harris is hurt.
You may gain some yards on the ground, but eventually Lofa will end up biting you in the ass.

Ah. Didn't know.
Thanks.

Line issues, coaching "transition"
John,
Great work on the podcasts, I hope you keep it up. I really enjoy listening to them before kickoff, and your enthusiasm for the Hawks and for football in general really comes through. A few broader questions, which you have partially addressed already (and should feel free to ignore if you so choose):
1) Defensive line. You’ve discussed SEA’s lack of a DT that demands two blockers, and alluded to Red Bryant’s potential in that role. Could you discuss some of the changes you’d suggest to the Hawks’ D-line to address their conspicuous failure last week?
2) Offensive line. I didn’t realize that Mike Wahle was already known to struggle in the pass rush, but (as you point out) he was certainly exposed last week. Would a Willis/Locklear RG/RT pairing on the right side of the line help at all? Are there any other OL changes you’d suggest?
3) Another coaching question. There’s been lots of (justifiable) concern over the total failure of the secondary last week, particularly given that Mora will be head coach next year. Do you think last week’s total breakdown teaches us anything new about Mora?
Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

coaching in-game decisions...
Two first half coaching decisions that leave me curious if Holmgren threw in the towel or was just being incompetent.
First— the Giants had already scored on their first 4 possessions, with our D showing no capability to stop them. We had a 4th and 1 on our own 38 and the walrus makes the decision to punt. This seems so very wrong to me. First, we hadn’t stopped them yet, seems like a perfect time for the offense to “support” to the D by fighting and battling and picking up the slack instead of creating even more slack! Second, the running game was working and Julius Jones had been doing a good job getting tough yards, seems probably we could have gotten it with him. Third, why the hell do we have tj duckett on the roster if not for those situations? Finally, assuming we can mount a long solid drive, we put ourselves back in a position of being competitive in the game instead of rolling over.
I was also extremely disappointed to see Holmgren kick a field goal prior to half with 7 or 8 seconds left. The game struck me as being such that it was almost out of reach already. I still don’t think we had stopped them yet, AND we had to kick off to start the 2nd half. Go for it, man! Take a chance at getting yourself back into a game…
Also, despite Hass’ intelligence, what do you think of his decision to call a TO at the line of scrimmage in the red zone inside a minute left at half, instead of taking a 5 yard penalty. That loss of time out may have been the difference in going for 7 one more time or settling for 3. Just seems a giant cluster $*#%. Was it indicative of a single game’s isolated issues with decision-making and game management, or do you see it as a greater issue with both the Walrus and Hass. Finally, is it something that will change under Mora in the future, or is it just the standard “by the book” b.s. that is so prevalent across football circles?
You really think I'll become a bronco fan if I live in Denver long enough? Why, when it is so much fun watching your team suck and mine rock!!!

So if our defense isn't as good as we thought it was or hoped it was then what now?
If life gives you lemons, keep the receipt
