Hyperventilate Much?
Is anyone else besides me starting to get somewhat tired with sports talk radio and some of the hyperventilating going on about this season? I have to listen to Mitch in the Freaking Morning's promo where he's saying that we're entering a rebuilding stretch, in another show there's multiple people coming to excoriate Tim Ruskell. Another states that our #1 priority in the offseason is getting a defensive tackle.
Look, I appreciate we can all be disappointed about how this season has gone. I think there comes a point however when we just forget about the past few years in our disappointment. Why can't we appreciate simple solutions?
1. Injuries. At some point one has to admit injuries play a role. If Arizona lost both Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin how many games do you think they would win? What if they lost Kurt Warner for five games, Fitzgerald for 10, Boldin for 7, one of their starting offensive lineman for 3, one of their starting offensive linemen for the season? How many games would they win? Did anyone notice how the Dallas Cowboys looked without Tony Romo?
2. Poor safety play. Remember 2006 and the Michael Boulware debacle? Same corners that year as well. Can we at least remember that we are asking our corners, whether they are in zone or man coverage that they are compensating for having zero safety help in most circumstances?
3. Coaching. Unimaginative play calling, especially defensively, is killing us. We had another of those ill-advised 7 man blitzes in Sunday's game on an important 3rd and long.
So yes, there are players who are underachieving, and yes, there are holes to fill. But I am sure hoping that I don't have to spend the next year listening to pundit after pundit write off the Seahawks. It's getting old. Are they the Mariners? No! You want to know why they'll be competitive next year? How about the freaking schedule!
Next year we'll play AZ twice, SF twice, STL twice, Minnesota, Chicago, Green Bay, Detroit, Indy, Tennessee, Houston, Jacksonville, and some crappy filler teams.
So breath into a paper bag people. The Seahawks world isn't coming to an end.
A place to bury strangers.

This is why you shouldn't EVER listen to Mitch in the goddamn Morning.
Unfortunately, football is a “what have you done for me lately” kind of sport. It isn’t like baseball where you only have to wait a day for the next game.
When your games are a week apart it can be difficult for a lot of people to stay grounded in reality and look at the bigger picture.

I agree with you on everything, very well put
Except saying that those opponents are weak next year. AZx2, Minny, Chicago, GB, Indy, Tennessee? Brutal man.

Still easier than this year...
Any year you don’t have to play the entire NFC East is an easier year. The NFC North is decidedly weaker. The AFC South is stronger than the AFC East, but not by as much as one would think (in my own opinion, I’m sure).

Would also like to mention...
That chances are next year that Minnesota may still have Gus Frerotte as their quarterback, Chicago still with Orton/Grossman, and Detroit still an unbelievable mess. I’ll take my chances against that.

The only person really worth listening to on KJR is Dave Grosby.
I still can’t believe they gave his show to Ian fucking Furness. I still listen though so I can get sports news while in the car without having to dangerously be checking LL on my phone.

How much worse could we get?
We certainly got blown out of more than a few games. With all things considered, I think we did just about as bad as could be expected from a team in our situation. No worse, no better.

Cowboys were expected to be the best team in football
They lost to the F’in Rams without Romo….
After X amount of injuries no team will survive, we hit X by week 2 and continued until that number was X+impossible.
We got blown out once, lost bad a once or twice additional. Seriously, we have found strengths and weaknesses that were never exposed due to our health and super easy schedules in the past years.
This season could be the best thing that ever happened to the Hawks, just depends how we respond next year.
Maybe you saw nothing, but many others including myself saw a lot of promissing things for the future on both sides of the ball. No team in football could survive what happened to us this year, and so yeah, all things considered I think as a team we improved significantly……it just hasn’t shown up yet, when the D is on the Field 80percent of the time we will get stomped. But with health QB and recieving corps in additional to a much improved run game, will would be right back in the competition no questions asked.

THANK YOU!
I have been waiting for people to have this attitude more. It almost seems like people have completely forgotten the past four seasons during this one. This was all very well put.
