Raider's stupidity, Seahawks fortune?
I may as well target this mostly towards John, but: The Raiders will release (or already have?) DeAngelo Hall, are looking to cut Javon Walker and there are faint whiffs that Tommy Kelly might be laying his neck in the guillotine as well. The Hawks are depleted badly at Wideout, have been suffering in the defensive backfield, and are thinning on the D-Line as well.
What value, in any, would there be in trying out Javon Walker, a guy who had unbelievable talent and put up great numbers in Green Bay? Is DeAngelo Hall worth taking a flier on? He can't command huge money, though he likely won't be a bargain either. He's still extremely young and at one point had a reputation as a good corner, deserved or not.
Lastly, the benching of Michael Huff. Al Davis, being the gremlin that he is, has somehow forced Huff to the bench. Could he be acquired for something like a 3rd or 4th rounder? He would immediately step in and be an improvement over White Hustle.

Walker is probably not a Ruskell guy. No on Hall, he's young but that's just more money committed against next season. Huff, we'll see.
That team, what a mess. The problem is Seattle isn’t an attractive location for a free agent, sucking and all, and the team faces a cap crunch after this season. The team can’t trade for Huff and I don’t think he’ll be cut. Getting talent for free is always attractive, but Walker and Huff are the real attractive options and I don’t see Seattle signing/having a chance to sign either.

Mora drafted Hall, no?
And Hall played his best for Mora, so I’d think there’d be an attraction there.
Plus, I read that Hall’s blaming his suckiness this year on playing the Raiders’ man-to-man scheme… if he came here he could play zone.
I’m not one of those guys who thinks our secondary is that bad, but still I think acquiring Hall (if he comes cheap) isn’t a bad move.

Nor do I.
Actually, Tim Ruskell was the assistant GM when the Falcons drafted Hall. I just don’t think Seattle should commit more salary to cornerback, assuming A) They’re not going to contend this year B) They face a potential salary crunch next season C) He’d be a dime or nickelback and D) Their top three corners are 27 or younger.

would Ruskell be willing...
to part ways with Jennings… pick up Hall for cheap this year.
Charles Woodson comes to mind on this one. Not often you get this type of opportunity.
It is what it is...

Which franchise is doing worse?
Detroit Lions or Oakland Raiders

Raiders.
At least Detroit no longer has Matt Millen. They have a future ahead of them.
The Raiders with Davis do not, until he’s gone.

Raiders.
The Lions have promise in Calvin Johnson, Gosder Cherilus, Kevin Smith and Ernie Sims.
The Raiders have McFadden, Zach Miller, Asomugha, and at times Thomas Howard.
The Lions do not have Al Davis, Millen anymore, a hugely bloated contract for a crappy QB, Robbery Gallery, Tommy Kelly, etc.
Best part of the Raiders is that they have Tui, Greyson Gunheim, and the best kicker in Madden history Janikowski.

Still
I’m pretty sure he was benched by Marinelli a few weeks ago. I always thought that O-lineman had one of the shorter (not short by any means though) time periods to adapt to the NFL game (see Joe Thomas, Jake Long, Sam Baker).
Detroit’s O-line is pathetic…if Cherilus can’t get off the bench and get playing time on that line, he’s not very good.

Fair enough. But some players take awhile after getting to the NFL
to adjust.
