Game Thread: Seahawks @ Dolphins
Seattle Seahawks at Miami Dolphins, Nov 9, 2008 10:00 AM PST
At some point today, Darryl Tapp will come free towards the quarterback after a perfect inside move on Vernon Carey.
At some point today, John Carlson will run a route carved by Michelangelo.
At some point today, Brandon Mebane will obliterate a single block and force Ronnie Brown wide.
And not even losing can take that away.

Inactives
QB Matt Hasselbeck
K Brandon Coutu
LB David Hawthorne
OG Mansfield Wrotto
DT Red Bryant
TE Will Heller
DE Patrick Kerney
I wonder if when Floyd Womack is eventually injured the team will give Wrotto some looks.

Tapp
If you were to weigh Tapp getting his starting job back, what would it be between Tapp’s actual play or Jackson’s play declining.

I like it personally
Your offense is on the field when the crowd is still coming back from halftime, so it’s quieter. Plus I like knowing that we have the ball coming out of the half.
Of course, you have to have your D not suck it up in the first half…

I no longer think this team is underplaying it’s talent level due to injuries, coaching, etc. They just suck.

by BrettJMiller on Nov 9, 2008 10:40 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I thought last year's team played way above it's head
mostly because of brilliant play from Hasselbeck. The talent level around Hass was/is decent-to-pretty good, but take him out of the equation and, well, yeah. I do think there is a high talent level on defense, that the unit is playing horribly and that Marshall should have been replaced some time ago.
by lemonverbena on Nov 9, 2008 10:44 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
But you said "I no longer think this team is underplaying it's talent level due to injuries, coaching etc."
You just conceded that losing Hass hurt the team. So what is it? Do they all suck or do injuries play in?
by BrianL on Nov 9, 2008 10:46 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Injuries have reduced them from at least a decent team to a bad one.
And if you look unit to unit, of course there’s talent there. But on a whole, I think our talent level has been overrated. The O-line is bad, the D is undersized, Jones is not the long-term answer as a starter, etc etc.
I’ll concede that it’s too sweeping a statement to say “they suck” but I’m just really frustrated. It’s sad to watch my beloved Hawks unravel, beginning with the Hutch fuckup.

I know there is a bit of sarcasm there
But seriously – Matt always does it with his legs if he has to on 3rd down.

Yeah, it was all sarcasm.
But you’re right, for a guy with his speed, he is WAY TOO hesitant to scramble. If the lane is open, use it, god give him speed, no reason to not use it.

is it just me
or does this game suddenly look kind of winnable?

Woah woah woah
Let’s not get optimistic here. There’s no room in this thread for optimism!

I just started watching...
but if our offense continues to do nothing, then I don’t think so. But yes, it’s always winnable.

No, optimism is just always rewarded by god shitting on you.
As a Seattle fan, I know to never say “We’re gonna win” because every time I do it, a friend does it, or a random fan in the crowd does it, we either lose in horribly embarrassing fashion or the other team almost overcomes a huge defecit. The sports gods hate cockiness. Ask the Patriots and their fans.

Good God, will someone please catch a ball?
by djafrot on Nov 9, 2008 11:12 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
He does not throw a catchable ball.
His spiral is always lose, and he puts it behind most receivers.
