Josh Wilson Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week
Per Farnsworth, beating out Jason Jones, Ed Reed, Leon Hall, and Jason Taylor. Wilson's performance against the Jets was a great bright spot in a tough season peppered with legit concerns about Seattle's secondary.
"I see you, Maryland!"

A closer look at the finalists (from the NFL's media site):

So,
Josh Wilson is the biggest defensive surprise this year for us, and Carlson is the biggest offensive surprise for us. Good 2nd round picks by Ruskell. Who are our MVPs I wonder… Mebane and … Carlson? or Big Walt?

Wilson is awesome, but her performance in that game
was not all positive. I remember him giving up a good amount of yardage, but that be be at least somewhat due to the fact the Jets were picking on him (and in the process, wisely leaving Trufant alone).

Geez, Josh had a great game, but that line on Jason Jones looks amazing…

About time Wilson connected on a CB blitz.
Heh. He’s an excellent complement to Trufant but I wish he was just a tad taller.

Have Trufant/Jennings ever even blitzed this season? I can't recall one
instance (although I recall many Babs/Russell/Grant blitzes).

Well,
Jennings is so frail that he could come off unblocked, hit a QB blindside at full-speed, and still not be able to bring him down. Well, not really, but like John’s pointed out before, Jennings offers nearly nothing outside his coverage abilities. They used to blitz Trufant his first couple seasons, but it became evident there was little to gain from risking an excellent CB for a really hit-or-miss play.
But I’m referring to how Wilson is comfortable jumping routes when he can, which is great when QBs look at Trufant and fling it at someone else in a hurry, resulting in turnovers which we’ve sorely lacked this season.

I think Wilson has the most to gain from safety help
He makes a lot of plays, but he really shouldn’t be left on an island.

My favorite part
is Trufant’s mini-dance in the background.

This is front page material!!!
Thanks a bunch. Not sure how he beat out Jones but I’m really happy for Wilson.

Maryland also does speed.
As was seen in the Josh Wilson-Vernon Davis race to the endzone.

As soon as they make a Josh Wilson jersey with the hard numbers instead of the painted ons, I'm getting it.
He’s quickly becoming my favorite player on defense.
