Fred Davis over RB?

I'm not extremely familiar with him, and to be honest, as a fan of some of the RB's in this class, I haven't really even looked at the TE position as a first round option lol. I have considered It, but not so much really looked into some of the possible selections.

I know OF him, and I've read some good scouting reports, but I'm hopin someone can tell me why we should take Fred Davis over someone like Stewart or Mendenhall?

1st Pick
I think the main reason people think we should take Davis over a running back in the first round is because having a good TE is this type of offense is very important. I think while we don't have a future franchise running back currently there is a sense that we could do fine with a running back by commitee consisting of Weaver, Morris, Alexander, second-third round pick. I think Stewart and Mendenhall are great players and would help us a lot too. I haven't really decided myself.

Fred Davis
Let me just say that I love Fred Davis and would love him to be a Hawk and would be happy with him as our 1st round pick.

But I am not taking Davis in the 1st if Rashard Mendenhall, Jonathan Stewart, Branden Albert, Sam Baker, Kenny Phillips or Calais Campbell is available.

That is no knock on Davis either; it has more to do with that fact that I think John Carlson, Martellus Bennett and Jermichael Finley are all going to be very very good NFL TEs. Also, with Philly franchising LJ Smith and Carolina looking at Alge Crumpler not a lot of teams are looking for TEs so Fred Davis could still be floating around in the mid-2nd and be there for the trade up.

Walter Jones, you were the greatest, most dominant player I've ever seen at any position. It's been an honor to be your fan.
