Around SBN: Do Not Hire Rod Marinelli as Seahawks Defensive Coordinator Bar-right-arrows

Who are we going to take?

Now that Lock has Re-signed, and with the signing of Wahle, I'd have to assume we aren't going offensive line in round 1.

What does that leave?

DE
S
TE
RB

I've seen Calais Campbell mentioned alot from people, I'd have to assume at this point It's going to be best player available and hopefully at one of those positions, and not TE.

RB
I'd like to see a running back, that position seems to be the best way to get immediate help out of the draft and we don't have anybody that can really carry the load. Even if Morris and Weaver get more carries it still isn't going to be the caliber of ground game we need to go deep in the playoffs. Also WR should be mentioned since our depth there is very suspect with injuries and Hackett's status up in the air. I would rather see this problem resolved by signing another backup QB and moving Seneca to wideout where he belongs but that does not seem likely to happen ever

Don't rule out
offensive line completely. It's less likely now, but if the bap at #25 is an OT, I think it would be difficult to justify not taking him.

Don't forget
That you take the best talent available.

We could end up with a LB

Well
I have to believe with this being Holmgren's last year, he's going to want to draft a player or two who he feels can contribute immediately. I'm not positive if that's really how it's going to be, but I think he would rather have his career end on a higher note, as would anyone else in his position.
Let's go.

Take the best player available (within reason)
If it is an area where we have strength than we can create mismatches, and if it is a need position than we are filling a hole.  I am hoping the best player available is a running back, that Menanhal or Stewart is there when our time comes. I have not researched this and could be totally wrong, but another thing to think about is that Tim Ruskell is better at drafting defensive players than offensive. The bust rate for recievers is high so I would like to look away from them early, and hope to get lucky in rounds 3 and up.

Scheme Change?
I also think that DL is a concern. Maybe not a first round concern but I think the future of that Seattle defense is going to revolve around Lofa. DT or DE we should look for size. We need to keep the blockers off of him so he can make plays for us. Marcus Tubbs would have been good for this if he didn't have the durability issues.

Is Mora going to install a different offensive scheme?  That may be important to consider for wideouts.

Perhaps.
Both Solari and Lazor are Air Coryell guys.

Walter Jones, you were the greatest, most dominant player I've ever seen at any position. It's been an honor to be your fan.
