Around SBN: Do Not Hire Rod Marinelli as Seahawks Defensive Coordinator Bar-right-arrows

Mora officially Hawks head coach in '09

According to Jay Glazer, at least!

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7764658/Sources:-'Hawks-tab-Mora-as-next-head-coach

So there we go. Mora in '09. I bet Ty Willingham feels a bit better now. What's the over/under on number of shots of Mora standing on the sidelines next season, as the announcers talk about his future job?

Update: You can watch the press conference here. It should be a meaty mix of "thank yous" and football platitudes. I'll run a quick recap afterwards.

On a related note, with Mora officially hired, keep an eye on the Lane Kiffin situation in Oakland. Kiffin isn't likely to accept a position as lowly as quarterbacks coach, but Greg Knapp, Mora's offensive coordinator in Atlanta, might.

great news
this will probably help with the coaching stability John was talking about.

The coaches should be on the same page, knowing that no matter what Mora is the guy in 2009.  Not that it's a surprise, but it's nice to see it be official.

Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

Good news.
Given that this was a foregone conclusion, it's nice to eliminate doubt. People looking for an offense first draft might not want to hold their breath. Then again, a number of boards have Kenny Phillips falling to Seattle in the first, so...

Replace Russell with Phillips. Babs with Josh Wilson, and Green with Marcus Tubbs...

Are you ready for some smashmouth football?

Full story later this morning.

Rookie contracts are cheaper
If they draft Phillips I imagine it will be Trufant that is replaced...

just saying...

Walter Jones, you were the greatest, most dominant player I've ever seen at any position. It's been an honor to be your fan.
