Pigskin Podcast
I did a spot on the Pigskin Podcast talking about the Seahawks and the NFC West. I'm not real radio savvy, but, y'know, I think it came out alright.

good interview…I was wondering why you didn’t mention Tripplett when you were talking about Bryant? Did it slip your mind or do you think its not that significang in comparison to drafting Bryant? I was really pumped when the hawks signed him, and hope he makes the squad, though Holmgren’s comments on that haven’t been that encouraging. If he did, where do you see him in the DT rotation? Anyway, good summery of the Hawks offseason.
Tripplett has an indentifiable name and is a home town kid, but..
other than some ability in the short zone, I don’t see him bringing much that Craig Terrill doesn’t. Bryant and Tripplett are entirely different types of players. Bryant is a big body, two gap tackle, with a lot of quickness and athleticism for the position. He’s young and has a lot of upside. Tripplett is a seasoned, single gap tackle, who would slot somewhere behind Bernard, Terrill and even occasionally Lawrence Jackson. I don’t see him as much more than injury insurance.
I can't help thinking
that the last time the Hawks drafted a DT named Bryant, it worked out pretty well . . .

Injury insurance is exactly what we need at the DT position, John.. We lost Howard Green, Chuck Darby and Ellis Wyms – and we only picked up Red Bryant at the position (not including udfa’s).. There is definitely a spot on this team for Larry Tripplett.. You could argue that Cooper and Wyms are of the same mold, and I’d buy it, so we can cancel that out.. So we lost Darby and Green, and we gained Bryant and Tripplett.. I understand that we wouldn’t necessarily be replacing Howard Green (two gap) with Larry Tripplett (single) from a technique standpoint, but from a roster standpoint we essentially are..
I think Tripplett can be just as effective as Terrill in our system. He certainly was in Indy.. It was only when he went to Buffalo and was asked to clog the middle that he didn’t live up to expectations.. I guess we’ll have to wait until the pads are on..
