Seahawks All-Time Fantasy Draft (17)

With the 17th overall pick in the first ever Seahawks All-Time Fantasy Draft, the (19)76ers select...

Sean Locklear, North Carolina State

The (19)76ers select offensive tackle Sean Locklear. Lock is one of the more solid right tackles in the NFL. The (19)76ers will ask him to make the transition to left tackle and protect number one overall pick Matt Hasselbeck’s blind side. With Walter Jones off the table, the (19)76ers were stuck with the Lock to left tackle gamble versus a host of mediocre to poor historic left tackles. Whether this gamble succeeds will have a large impact on the success of this really not very venerable franchise.

Brave pick...

I guess I shouldn’t show my cards next time.

Value vs. need?

No way that Locklear is the 17th best player in Seahawks history, but who else are you going to take at OT? Definitely drafting need over value here, but sensible.

I understand the pick, but Mudbones management is trying to adhere to a pretty strict “best player available” philosophy… We’ll see how it all plays out.

This is why Walter Jones goes 2nd overall...

The depth behind him is not exactly awesome.

Well and he's the greatest player in Seahawks history.

One of the greatest players in the history of the league. I was a little shocked he didn’t go #1.

There is that of course...

I was happy to pick him up at #2, although I definitely understand taking Hass #1 as well.

It still blows my mind that Big Walt didn’t win the “greatest Seahawk” contest over on my blog back in March…. If he’s not a first ballot hall of famer something is seriously wrong.

This was a need pick.

Is Sean Locklear the 17th best player in Seahawks history? No way. He might be the second best LT, though (although even that’s difficult to determine based upon the fact that Lock hasn’t played LT in the regular seasom). I need to keep Matt Hasselbeck healthy. So, there you have it.
