Few receivers as great as Joey Galloway have worked with a lowlier collection of quarterbacks: Scattershot Rick Mirer, Decrepit Warren Moon, Gino-Torretta Gino Torretta…the Dallas years: Frosty Quincy Carter, Ryan Leaf, Sucktastic Chad Hutchinson…the Tampa years: Noodle-armed Brian Griese, Splenetic Chris Simms, Bench Me Bruce Gradkowski—it could be argued that when Peter-Pan Jeff Garcia signed in 2007, Galloway was gifted the best quarterback of his career. Ouch. When we talk about Galloway as a 10,000 yard receiver, the first receiver in history to post 1,000 yard seasons at 34, 35 and 36, we must acknowledge he did so in spite of the Muppet chorus huckin' the ball somewhere near him. If we can one day figure out a way to separate a receiver’s performance from his quarterback’s, we may finally begin to see Galloway as what he truly is: a Hall of Fame receiver. |

...and my next pick is in!
You are absolutely right about Galloway being a borderline hall of famer, but I am STILL pretty sore with him over how he helped wreck the 1999 season… But we did get two #1s for him from Dallas, didn’t we? :)
I remember selling his jersey at a yard sale for a buck after that.. to what I assume was a big Ohio State fan.. ha ha

I love Galloway, glad to see him still going strong with the Bucs.
FYI though: Galloway set his season high in TDs in 1997 while playing with the “decrepit” Warren Moon. Galloway’s speed and Moon’s ability to throw the long ball made them a good pair. I remember them hooking up three times in that shootout with the Raiders.
