With the 52nd overall pick in the first ever Seahawks All-Time Fantasy Draft, the Skid Row Sliders select...
Deon Grant, Tennessee

Deon Grant is not Pro Bowl bound. He doesn’t hurt guys like Roy Williams. He form tackles, and does so pretty well. Grant gets his picks, but has never run one back for a score. He’s not "dynamic" in the open field. But what Grant is is one of the best free safeties in the NFL. He does play an excellent center field, combing good quickness with exceptional anticipation and awareness. He does make smart gambles, grabbing picks when a miss wouldn’t hurt. And Grant does play pretty fine strong safety for a free safety. In my eyes, this pick is a real steal. Grant has already proven to be a top cover safety, started with the Hawks in his prime, and has a very good chance of staying very productive for 5 of the 6 seasons he’s under contract. The Sliders will move him to safety to accommodate its manager’s personal opinion about his strengths and weaknesses. I think that counts as pretty good value for the bottom of the 12th. |

Yep, great pick
I figured someone would pick him and switch him over to the position that fits him the best. When all is said and done, he could easily be a top 2-3 safety in Seahawks history.

Shouldn't this come with an asterisk
He better be not just good but great as Russell is not a quality safety. Yes, he doesn’t make glaring mistakes due to his smarts, but, due to his lack of athletic talent he does not make many plays and only starts because of 1) his FA signing and 2) the number 2s are just a notch above number 3s. Safety is the most glaring negative on the Hawks D. They were the beneficiaries of not seeing many quality QBs last year. Rather, they were able to take advantage of a bunch of stiffs: McCown, Leinart, Dilfer (twice), Grossman, Frerotte, Feeley, Moore, Smith, Redman and Collins. Feeley and Dilfer will never again play in the NFL and a number of others shouldn’t be allowed to play again in the NFL as they are all consistently the lowest rated QBs in the league.

No
because on John’s team, he won’t be playing next to Russell. I don’t know whom John will pick for SS (Ken Hamlin?), but it won’t be Russell.
BTW, why haven’t you been banned yet?
