High Point/Low Point Of 2007 Seahawks Season?

We are just a measly 1 month away from seeing how Owen Schmitt and Leonard Weaver and TJ Duckett will run over people with ease (as well as moving the ball forwards when it's a running play).

I want to know from you, the highest point of last season for you, and the lowest point. It can be a game, a play, an injury, etc.

SSR's Highest Point: Have to say the Wild-Card game against the Redskins, when Marcus Trufant had the pick 6 to seal the game. Other candidates included the 42-21 thumping of Arizona to seal the NFC West, and the Lofa Tatupu interception festival in Philly.

Lowest Point: I'm so tempted to pick the game when Alexander fumbled away the chances of winning in Arizona, or the shutout against the Steelers, or even the follow-up performance against the Saints at home. However, the fact that the Seahawks couldn't pick up a 4th and short twice against one of the worst rushing defenses in the Cleveland Browns did it for me. That, and the fact that they blew a 21-9 lead.

Your turn.

A place to bury strangers.

low point?

what about the steelers game? the offense was an absolute travesty.

by aerozeppelin on Jul 4, 2008 9:52 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

n/s

high point: the division clincher against the Cardinals.

low point: the saints game, worst game I’d seen from the hawks since the Bills game in 04.

by MFAN on Jul 5, 2008 2:17 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Agreed.

The Saints game was the low point for me as well.

lowest point: Saints game

I was living in New Olreans at the time and I invited all my friends over to watch my team kick their ass. As it turns out they just ate my guacamole and laughed at me.

Highest point: I think the first five minutes of the Packers game were heaven. I refuse to acknowledge the remaining 55.

by acecoop on Jul 6, 2008 7:08 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Yep

Highest Point: Beginning of the Packers game.

Lowest Point: The rest of the Packers game.

I expected the Packers to beat the Seahawks, which is the only reason it's not my lowest point.

Another reason

Why I picked the Browns game is that, to me, it felt like 2004 all over again. A chance to beat a quality opponent and prove yourselves contenders, and then find a way to blow a 21-6 lead.

High point/Low point...

High point had to be the Redskins playoff game… Yay!

Low point… Alexander/Beck fumble during Cardinals exchange… foreshadowing of stupid SA for the entire season.

Oh God

I had forgotten about that. I think the foreshadowing aspect definitely puts this in the top five for the season.

Assessing the key points in the 2007 seasons:

I will go with the NO loss as the real low point. This is the loss that made it impossible to think the hawks were worthy of getting back to the superbowl. It brought us to a pedestrian 3-3 and was a home loss against an inferior team. Definitely the low point. This was our only home loss of the season so it takes the cake over the PIT or ARI losses which were both road games against teams much better than NO last year.

For the high point, I would definitely say right after the first two scores in the divisional round against the packers. I mean a 14-0 cushion means victory what percentage of the time? 90% ? I remember explaining to my wife how the dolphins would be favored to win the game if they stepped in for the hawks at that moment (assuming they prepared I guess).

I am not gonna call the rest of that game the low point because it doesn’t make you sulk and get depressed like the NO loss. Season Over. You go and read Mel Kiper and start revving up for next year.

The GB loss certainly made me depressed.

I locked myself in the basement and cussed and threw things while listening to 80’s hardcore for several hours after that game.

High point: Gotta go with Tru’s pick-six in the Wild Card game

Low point: The last 55 minutes or so of the playoff game in Green Bay

by DKSB on Jul 11, 2008 9:30 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I gotta agree with everyone about GB...

That wasn’t just death, that wasn’t just torturous death, that was slow, torturous, and truly improbable death. That snow—it was like a curse.

by John Morgan on Jul 11, 2008 9:42 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The second it started snowing I knew the game was over.

The low point for me was the fumbled hand off. I blew a gasket after that. Screaming shouting and punching.

High point was either the Trufant pick six or the last minute of the Bengals game.

by Robert on Jul 13, 2008 10:49 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I had the opposite reaction.

When I saw the snow, I figured the tempo of the game would slow to a crawl, and I was glad that we had taken a good lead early on as I thought it would be a low-scoring game after that.

SF

I think one of my favorite moments of the season was that play where Rocky Bernard separated Alex Smith’s shoulder. I feel bad taking pleasure from the injury of another human, but when that play happened, I just sort of knew that the defense was going to be really good. Like a premonition – “These guys are here to kick ass and take names, and nothing will stop them.” Plus, I hate Alex Smith.

Worst moment was definitely the Browns 4th-and-1s. I don’t feel as bad about GB, because they really were a better team than us. But we should have stomped the Browns, and we blew it because we couldn’t move the ball forward 1 yard.

by UW Alex on Jul 13, 2008 3:35 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I'm entirely unconvinced GB was a better team than us.

Well.....

They had a running game.

They’re better.

They were better

They weren’t better than us with 14 free points handed over by Ryan Grant, but if we’d played a 7 game series, I’m not seeing us take 4 out of 7.

GB had a complete team and our offense was realistically about league average at that point. Hasselbeck to Engram only gets you so far. After the Grant fumbles, it was a fair game, but straight up, GB was far from the most embarrassing loss of the season.

by UW Alex on Jul 15, 2008 9:06 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lessee...

High point: when we realized that we weren’t losing anything after Strong retired.
Low point: when the refs cheated us out of a victory in GB. >:(

GB @ home = better

I think GB and the Hawks were pretty evenly matched last year. I would give the slight edge to GB because Seattle’s run game was the weakest unit on either side. In the divisonal playoff game last year, I think GB was the favorite because they were at home. In the hypothetical 7 game series, whoever has homefield advantage wins most of the games. Its tough to win road playoff games; especially in the snow, and especially without a run game.

The Seahawks were very beatable last year because of the lack of a run game, teams that really planned smart against us had our number. GB had the better season and earned homefield advantage.
