Lofa Tatupu On Crutches

That's the word out of Seahawks Insider.

I didn't see the injury and have no insight into the severity. The team will conduct an MRI tomorrow. It's not hard to expect the worst, but we shall see.

Did anyone

see Lofa limp off the field in any preseason games or practices?

by CKremer on Aug 25, 2008 9:03 PM PDT   0 recs

It happened in tonight's game.

Though they didn’t show him limping off the field.

This is my fault

I said today I’m glad we have Hawthorne because we have a good backup MLB

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hawthorne time

by MFAN on Aug 25, 2008 9:56 PM PDT   0 recs

This is somehow the Mariners fault.

Not that the M’s battled injuries this year, they just battled suck and bad luck. Either way, the negative product the M’s have created is oozing into Qwest field.

by AtomicGarden on Aug 26, 2008 6:20 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes, but

the Beltre injury wasn’t a big deal, and the Batista and (especially) Silva injuries qualified as good

luck.

by The Ancient Mariner on Aug 27, 2008 8:12 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

You might consider that the reason Silva and Batista have been as bad as they have

is because they’ve been hurt. And you cannot say how Beltre’s injury has affected him.

by Matthew on Aug 27, 2008 9:38 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

No, I mightn't

considering that it isn’t true. They’ve been as bad as they have because they can’t get batters out by themselves, and they have a poor defense behind them (though it’s been better since Reed’s been in the mix). Some of it’s bad luck, but the fact is, they’re pretty luck-dependent for good results.

More information on Lofa's injury courtesy of the NFC West blog at ESPN.

Early indications seem to be that it’s not a high ankle sprain, but rather a knee injury. Clare Farnsworth over at the PI seems to think that it’s a bruise (much like what O’Neill reported earlier)

by BrianL on Aug 26, 2008 8:18 AM PDT   0 recs

The more I think about it

The more I really think we could be looking at a 6-10 season. The injury bug always hits us, and if I’m Holmgren, none of the starters play Friday.

Give me the home, where Buffalo roams, and watch Jones get a hundred yard game.

Wow. I'm usually the most negative person here, but 6-10 doesn't seem at all likely.

I know there's no floor, but come on.

This is a team that has pretty good depth. If ’Beck’s back injury is something more severe, I’d be worried about the season, but frankly him not playing the last two games seems more precautionary than anything else.

Losing Lofa for a period of time would suck, but I don’t think it’s a complete season-breaker.

Lurking like a morlock

Between my recent move to Durham, NC and being in Eastern Washington for the better part of a week and a half I haven’t had a ton of time to sit around online in August. It hasn’t helped that I find the M’s completely unwatchable at this point. I have to admit that after a year of sports disappointments taking some time off has actually been something of a welcome break.

BREAKING NEWS

Lofa is done for the season with a high ankle sprain as well as a partially torn ACL. Jose Miguel Romero said it needed immediate surgery after looking at the MRI.

Bad news strikes for the Seattle Seahawks, as Pro Bowl linebacker Lofa Tatupu is now done for the season after a partial ACL tear as well has a high ankle sprain. The high ankle sprain was noticed in the lockerroom in their game against San Diego on Monday, but doctors say the MRI revealed something more troubling

Absolutely sucks, why can’t we have good luck for once? This means Hill and Peterson have to step up their game, or we’ll be giving up 100 yard games routinely.

I’m ill, and school starts in less than a week, but otherwise I’m great. It’s a shame I never ran into you while you were back here.

The cut to 75 are out

They got rid of the gimpies, mostly. And DBs who give up game losing catches.
Looks like Tim’s honeymoon didn’t get interrupted for nothing.
