Tyler Schmitt Out For The Season

Wunderkind long snapper, Tyler Schmitt, is lost for the season with a back injury. A small, but meaningful blow to a Seahawks special teams unit that could be great and could be grating.

In other news, Seattle played it cute getting down to 75. Smartly retaining good talent in Will Herring and William Robinson by placing Herring on the reserve list and Robinson on IR. Robinson has potential, if he can fill out. That left only Joel Filani and Omare Lowe to be outright cut.

Sooo

So the last few weeks have been…

  • Tubbs cut
  • Engram hurt
  • Locklear sprained knee
  • Schmitt hurt
  • Lofa Hurt

Life kinda blows this week.

Tubbs cut really doesn't bother me

But yeah, life blows.

Give me the home, where Buffalo roams, and watch Jones get a hundred yard game.

Special teams has been awful

I really hope that doesn’t mean Boone Klutz is back.

Give me the home, where Buffalo roams, and watch Jones get a hundred yard game.

I hope it doesn't

Did we release Jeff Robinson or something?

That's what I remember

Give me the home, where Buffalo roams, and watch Jones get a hundred yard game.

So who is LS now?

Take a seat, well somewhere...nevermind

by Chris Hansen on Aug 26, 2008 3:42 PM PDT   0 recs

Just when you thought we wouldn't be running a recycled Falcon LS out there...

We go with Tim Lindsey.

That got me thinking, and I know this is common knowledge of the trend, but I had to check into this a little.

An unofficial and partial history of Falcon long-snappers:
Mike Schneck – 10/2/07 to current
Boone Stutz – 2006 to 10/2/07
Tim Lindsey – 5/16/07 to 6/12/07
Ryan West – 5/1/07 to 5-9-07
Gavin Tarquinio – 3/1/06 to 3/5/07
Derek Rackley -2000 to 8/21/06
Jeff Robinson – drafted in 1993 as a DE out of Idaho

So… now that Tim Lindsey is the snapper, if he goes down, I fully expect to see a Ryan West or Gavin Tarquinio sighting in Seattle.

Holmgren mentioned that Schmitt's career might be done

He seems to think the back might be a chronic thing.

I can understand why

the circumstances are certainly suggestive.

Walter Jones, you were the greatest, most dominant player I've ever seen at any position. It's been an honor to be your fan.
