John Morgan appreciation thread

My dad and I are lifelong Hawk fans and were talking about how awesome this site is.  Not many NFL fans get to view blogs with this amount of quality analysis.  Your knowledge of the game and the depth of insight standout against the average media junk we read. So thanks John for all the hard work and hours you freely put in so I have something to look forward to after work (okay, during work, who am I kidding) each day.

A place to bury strangers.

Man

I wish someone would jack ME off like John…. :(

Why? Because the Seahawks rock my socks.

For some reason I read "Joe Morgan" appreciation thread.

My first reaction to that was “you’ve got to be shitting me.”

In all seriousness...

John is an awesome guy. No football blog comes even close to John’s meticulous analysis of players and games.

Kudos to you, John, and keep up the good work!

Amen.

John’s amazing. The smartest football analysis and best writing in the biz, plus Simpsons references galore.

Agreed

I have been wondering….this guy’s not even an insider!! If only you had the press credentials to be in on practices. you would mop frank houghes off of the lockeroom floor!!

Here's to Field Gulls, and John.

It’s funny, actually… I got turned onto this site from discovering Lookout Landing towards the end of the 2007 M’s season. That site made me realize there is a lot more to sports analysis than ESPN/SI type outlets. That, in turn, led me to FG which led me to Football Outsiders/Pro Football Prospectus, which in turn has made me a much better fan. So thanks to John, Matthew (because I know he reads this site), and everyone out there who puts the work into intelligent sports analysis. Seriously – the effort you put in is well appreciated by the intelligent fan. Don’t ever leave us.

Never again will I say that a team needs to establish the run, or that recovering fumbles is a skill. I heart this site and those like it — although they seem to be few and far between.

Yep, the site is great

I’d already been reading Football Outsiders/PFP when I stumbled across Field Gulls and I was glad to find a Seahawks site that had a similar philosophy but applied it directly to this team.

Seattle fans in general are blessed with the blogs for their teams (even if the general atmosphere around those teams suuucks, Seahawks excepted).

Thanks, John

I stumbled upon Field Gulls last year while searching for a Seahawks site that would hopefully increase my knowledge of the game and make me a smarter fan. I feel like I won the lottery.

I’m still learning and I often have to read posts (like the fabulous “Football Explained” posts) multiple times, but John has increased my understanding and passion for the game tenfold.

Thanks for all the hard work, and I’m looking forward to reading all the analysis during the upcoming season.

Thanks everyone.

I just write what I want to read. I’m glad others enjoy it too.

I'm very protective of John

Mainly because if he were to leave then thats means I would be in charge and the falloff would be worse then when Hughes took over for Sando at seahawk insider :)

Don’t ever leave John. I can’t handle the pressure and don’t need to become a alcoholic this early in my life.
