Around SBN: SB Nation interviews Jerome Bettis

Who replaces Logan Payne?

Do they reactivate Jordan Kent? Is he ready to carry the load? Or do they look for another slappy FA reciever and continue to avoid the fact that K-Rob is waiting for a phone call?

Seneca Wallace is out for a month as well, so with all the contingency plans falling apart too, what do they do?

A lot of people are calling for Courtney Taylors head, but you can't afford to cut him now. The 'Hawks made several moves last week and with the new injuries, they are stuck right back where they were a week ago. Any fresh suggestions?

A place to bury strangers.

Taylor is safe, as he should be.

I don’t know what the NFL rules are, but they might resign Sammie Parker.

Perhaps they’ll take a look at some other FA wideouts, or perhaps they’ll depart with a high draft pick in a trade.

I really hope

that they don’t do something stupid, like trading a high draft pick for someone. We need young talent on our roster, not another Deion Branch escapade.

Wallace isn't out for the season or anything

We’ll have him play next week, Holmgren said he hadn’t planned on even using mcmullen this week anyway.

I was the poor bastard that had Tom Brady on my Field Gulls fantasy football team.

Shit.

Did Holmgren make a deal with Satain or something?

by aerozeppelin on Sep 15, 2008 4:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Not that big of a deal.

Wallace is a novelty more than a legitimate WR.

awww damn

Last I heard was just a tweak

my bad

Frye showed enough in preseason.

Honestly though, if Matt goes down for an extended period of time we’re fucked.

Not if Frye is passing to Kent we aren't

There's part of me that's somewhat skeptical about a Koren return

and part of me that’s rather happy it’s happening, because deep down I like second chance stories.

Thing is...

There is no other alternative that has the potential to work out even close to as well. We signed a WR none of us had ever heard of and Samie Parker after workouts with several WRs. Parker got cut before the week even ended because a practice squad undrafted rookie was better.

Koren is our best chance, and we are his best chance at getting back into the league. It’s a no-lose situation for us and a last chance for him most likely. Think he’ll be motivated?

I think so.

by cashless on Sep 15, 2008 9:38 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm skeptical for the same reason I was skeptical about Billy McMullen and Samie Parker.

Nothing against Koren, it’s just he hasn’t worked out with the team or played in a little while (not to McMullen’s extent, though).

by BrianL on Sep 15, 2008 9:42 PM PDT up reply actions

True

But McMullen did spend TC and preseason with the Redskins so he was in playing shape. Hopfully Koren is in good enough shape to play as at least the 3rd WR…would be kind of lucky if his conditioning is good enough to play much of or all of the game.

But I think that his knowledge of THIS offense, with THIS QB, is what I am hoping comes through along with his good athletic ability.

by cashless on Sep 15, 2008 9:56 PM PDT up reply actions

It's been said Koren's been working out at a gym

on a regular basis with a trainer. Hopefully he’s in game shape.

The man is in excellent shape.

I'm hoping that's the case.

Just saying, I have some reservations. I’m hopeful that things will work out, though.
