Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Does Trent Edwards' limited arm strength squander Lee Evans?

First of all, I don't think Edwards' arm strength is "limited". We're not talking about Brett Favre here, but we're very clearly not talking about Chad Pennington, either. Edwards can make the vast majority of NFL throws, and what he lacks in a cannon arm he makes up for with a very quick release. He's green and needs experience, but his arm isn't a concern for me at all.

That said, Evans' role certainly changes with Edwards in the lineup as opposed to J.P. Losman. If I had to pick one player to compare Evans' playing style to - and by no means am I comparing him to the player in terms of impact - I'd pick Indianapolis' Marvin Harrison. Peyton Manning's favorite target has made his mark making catches all over the field (he was an outstanding deep threat early), and he's ensured longevity for his career by playing smart and running the best routes of any receiver in the league. Evans is developing along those lines. He's been used in a far different manner this pre-season alone than previous offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild ever used him; he's primed to make a big impact, especially if he's playing with one quarterback for the majority of the season. (If the line can keep said quarterback off the turf, at least.) -Brian Galliford, Buffalo Rumblings

compliments on the layout

of the quotes- the oversized quote and indenting is very cool… my only nitpick is where is the end-quote :). But seriously awesome savvy here, not to mention grabbing news about the opponent for next game.

Brian is great

This whole SB nation set-up is nice. It is cool to see Chickadee over at rumblings keeping our guys honest. Good luck with the season. I’ve always considered Seattle one of my top 2 or 3 favorite teams, and it would be nice for the town to win a Superbowl to numb the loss of the sonics. But I sure am not rooting for them THIS Sunday…
