Football Analysis With My 3-Year-Old

PrintThis blew my mind. My wife told me this last night:
As I was riding the bus home from Qwest last night, my wife Kate and our 3-year-old daughter Lucie are watching the beginning of the Dallas-Green Bay game. The camera takes a shot of Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Lucie sees it, and according to my wife, this is what she said:
Lucie: "Oooh, that's the new guy."
Kate: "What? Who?"
Lucie: "Him. That's the new guy. And everybody was nervous about him. But it's okay now."
I have not discussed the Rodgers-Favre brushup with Lucie at all because -- well, it just didn't come up, you know?
Oh God. A Packers fan. In my own home. I've tried as a father. I've really tried. I don't know what to do.

It appears you have two options
1. Sell her to a country where she won’t have access to American football so she can’t devilishly worship her Packers
or
2. Plead with the government to make 30th trimester abortions legal under the grounds that some kids aren’t able to root for the correct football teams and it takes parents a long time to understand that part of their child’s personality. The government of course understands and makes it legal.
Was that too terribly offensive? Hopefully it’s just mildly offensive.

Actually, she never was a Pack fan. Turns out she just really, really paid attention to the pre-game show.
Makes sense – Bob Costas was hosting, and she really pays attention to kids her size.

On an unrelated note
My three-year old thinks Manny Ramirez is a girl. He had a point and I didn’t bother to argue with him.
On a somewhat related but still pretty unrelated note:
I just found out that Manny Ramirezes two children are both named Manny Ramirez. Wtf??
