Can denver's defense

stand up to even the cheifs offense?

2/3 of the world is covered by water. The rest is covered by Marcus Trufant.

Holy crap, Cardinals fumble on back to back plays, and the Jets escape and get the ball at their own 43.

Warner fumbled on a sack and James fell on it at the NYJ 32, so they lost 23 yards already.

Then Boldin fumbles on the next play.

Best bye week ever..

Think about it.

We’re behind the 49ers and Cardinals, who everyone is hopping on in terms of bandwagon stuff and whatnot, and they are both losing.

on espn NFC blog:

With JT O Sullivan and the 49er’s off to a good start, is a 10-win season and division title in reach [for 49ers] ?
In a word,
No.

by paul2 on Sep 28, 2008 11:35 AM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Let's see, they're probably going to lose to the Saints so that is 2 losses.

They have the NFC East and Bills so that’s at a minimum 4 losses…..

So I agree with Paul2.

If you hop over to Niners Nation one user just went on a profanity laced rant on how the 49ers aren't blitzing.

That being said, the 49ers are better than Arizona to me and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a two horse race between us and them by week 6.

Based on defense.

The Lions offense isn’t painfully bad and they couldn’t move the ball at all.

O’Sullivan, as much as he gets sacked 30 times a game, hasn’t been a turnover machine like Warner has since opening day.
Really, neither defense is painfully good, but after these last few weeks of football, I’ve concluded that Arizona’s secondary is hideous. Until today (and it is the Saints) I can’t recall many long passes the 49ers have given up.

The Cards also still have to me, a mediocre running game. Edgerrin James, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, is another Shaun Alexander, and that is he is so useless in the open field. He’s nothing more than a short yardage, goal line situation back now. Frank Gore is a much better back, dangerous in the open field, and he has a second gear still, James is past his prime.

Kurt Warner is wreckless, I mean he’s wreckless with the football when under pressure. Heck, even when it’s a 3 man rush he throws a horrible interception.

Lastly, special teams the 49ers are better IMHO.

It should be mentioned that the Cards were without Adrian Wilson

That’s a pretty big shift. Losing Eric Green would be bad for their secondary though.

This Cadillac comercial...

I wonder about the casting:

Green Bay has arguably the most unimaginative playbook in the league

Screen to Grant, off-tackle with Grant, stop it with GRANT!

That almost tops T.J. Duckett ...

making me look like an absolute dumbass last week, as he tore it up immediately after I went off on a tangent against him.

The problem isn't the one comment...

it’s a history of posting diarrhea that strangles conversation.

yesss

thank you for that. i think you might have scared him away.

by Woodinville_12thMan on Sep 28, 2008 2:09 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It's a complicated offense.

I figure they’re giving Brohm all the time he needs and no expectations. Worked for Rodgers.

by John Morgan on Sep 28, 2008 12:47 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yes... but Flynn's a rookie too, right?

I’m just surprised the 7th rounder beat out the 2nd rounder.

by djafrot on Sep 28, 2008 1:03 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What I read...

he had the better camp and preseason.

by John Morgan on Sep 28, 2008 1:06 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Why not re-sign Craig Nall?

Nall, who’s currently a free-agent, should have a grasp of the Packers’ playbook after playing there for years.

Apparently, Ted Thompson sees a lot of potential in both Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn. That’s the only answer.

by AK1984 on Sep 28, 2008 1:12 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nall ...

returned to Green Bay at the end of last season.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=3692

While Nall’s experience under Mike McCarthy is next to nil, it’s still better than nothing.

by AK1984 on Sep 28, 2008 1:22 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nevertheless...

This…

Apparently, Ted Thompson sees a lot of potential in both Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn. That’s the only answer.

ignores the possible dozens of explanations why Green Bay didn’t sign Nall.

No more fantasy GMing. It’s irksome and ignorant. This is not a message board.

by John Morgan on Sep 28, 2008 1:33 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

This is a matter of ...

evaluating what might go down if Aaron Rodgers is out for an extended period of time.

Yet, that notwithstanding, you’re correct that Ted Thompson didn’t retain Craig Nall for whatever reason — no matter any conjecture on my part — and that’s that.

At any rate, it’ll be interesting to soon learn about the severity of Rodgers’ injury.

Jets sure are coughing up that lead.

Who do they think they are, the Seahawks?

by michaelfox99 on Sep 28, 2008 12:46 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Then again...

Clements sucks against the double move.

by John Morgan on Sep 28, 2008 12:49 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice!

I see the Cards and Niners are sucking.

by redwolf75 on Sep 28, 2008 12:57 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow, what if Rodgers is out for 2 weeks or more?

No him or Al Harris when the seahawks play GB at home. That is most definitely a winnable game.

by redwolf75 on Sep 28, 2008 1:07 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow, Jets, Wow.

Never seen a team go for two when having over fifty points.

by djafrot on Sep 28, 2008 1:18 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Eric Mangini ...

did that to make it a three touchdown game.

That’s still excessive stuff, though, in spite of it being a high-scoring game.

Cowboys could lose soon

not much time left…against a div. rival no less.. sweet bye.

by paul2 on Sep 28, 2008 4:19 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Being in L.A.,

this is the first season where I’m actually happy the national media has a Cowboys obsession. Watching that NFC East every week is really fun, especially since it’s got me pumped (and scared) to see what the Hawks do against these guys.

by sammy on Sep 28, 2008 4:30 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It's some strong football and fun to watch.

I really like Zorn and Campbell, so the Racists are easy to root for. The Eagles have my guys DeSean Jackson and Trevor Laws. Mostly, though, I hate the Boys and Giants. Always good to see them lose.

I’m not scared. I hope Seattle makes a statement this coming Sunday.

by John Morgan on Sep 28, 2008 4:41 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Was just watching the FOX postgame show...

…and they were talking about the Cards blowing it on the East Coast again.

I was thinking: we know the Seahawks aren’t good going east, but is ANY pacific time zone team good going east? Are there stats for this?

by djafrot on Sep 28, 2008 4:53 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think so...

let me look into that tomorrow.

Oh and for anyone who hasn't seen this, you can

watch Sunday Night Football Eagles v. Bears on nfl.com.

Good to have you back John

How was camping?

I’d like to be the first in line to say I was very wrong about DeSean Jackson.

Eagle's 'D'

I don’t understand them. They look utterly dominant at times, yet still manage to give up way too many points. 4 takeaways, 4 sacks, and still lose to the freakin’ Kyle Orton-led Bears! That must be frustrating for Eagles fans.

Of course, it would help to have arguably your best player on offense.

by Misfit74 on Sep 28, 2008 9:51 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Reminds me a lot of

a defense that had an 8 sack day a little while back and still lost to an O’Sullivan led 49’ers. The Eagles are a force to be reckoned with.

by sammy on Sep 29, 2008 12:47 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Their offense failed them

If life gives you lemons, keep the receipt

Another entertaining week for football

The Bills gave me a scare, since they were my survival pick, but they pulled it off. Um, the Chiefs? Over the Broncos? Damn.
