Who is inactive vs the Bills?

I bring this up specifically because it has me wondering who will return punts.

Star-divide

Wilson has been tabbed the KR but the PR job is still up in the air.  Holmgren said, “When we line them up, you’ll see whose catching it.”  It has been said that Burleson will not return punts because he is being depended on to start.  So that leaves Wilson, Seneca, and Forsett.  Forsett is the most obvious candidate because he did the brunt of returning duties in the pre-season.  But having him PR would require keeping 6 active RBs.

Going through the roster Branch, Engram, and Locklear are 3 of the 8, but beyond that it gets harder.  Unlikely we keep both kickers active, so there's 1 more, and also its hard to see Atkins and Babin being active.  That still leaves 3 spots.  I seem to remember hearing some rule about the 3rd string QB not counting against the active roster because he can only come in and play QB, not other positions.  This was the reason Seneca couldn't be put at 3rd string QB and play situational WR, but I'm not sure on that one.

The more I look at it, the more it seems like we only take 5 active RB's and Forsett is the one who gets the axe.

A place to bury strangers.

Amazing what 6 seconds of research can do...

To answer my own question, Charlie Frye is designated “emergency quarterback.” So he is technically inactive, but can play if both other QB’s are injured. With the 3 injured players, a kicker, and Frye inactive, that still leaves 3 spots.

My best guess is, Forsett, Babin/Atkins, and Putzier. Those seem to me the spots that offer the least value, even though Carlson’s preseason play was less than stellar and I would like to have the veteran savvy of Putz.

It just doesn’t seem like we can deactivate anyone off the O-line or any other defensive players. We are short on LB’s as it is, and all of our current LB’s offer lots of ST potential. With the Bernard/Babs suspensions we can’t sit any DTs or DBs. I’m in a dilly of a pickle here.

I should be on my fifth weenie smoothie by now! You know how many I've had? Zero...

I say deactivate Laury in favor of Forsett

Between Hawthorne and D.D. I’d say we’d be okay, I wanna see Forsett PR

Why? Because the Seahawks rock my socks.

Atkins has been hurting so he will probably sit

Babin will now contribute on ST so I don’t know if he will be deactivated or not. But with Babs and Rocky out I guess he would have to be unless they went after a TE or WR

You may gain some yards on the ground, but eventually Lofa will end up biting you in the ass.

I gotta think if Atkins sits with an injury, then Babin plays to keep a 4 man rotation at DE plus ST play.

Based on all this I gotta go with; Locklear, Branch, Engram, Frye, Coutu, Atkins, Forsett, and Hawthorne as inactive.

i agree with all except

for hobbs. minus babineaux, i think that we need all of our d-backs. i say throw in schmitt, he’s not of crucial importance as duckett can also play full back.

Without Wrotto

That leaves 2 players (Porkchop and Vallos) backing up all 5 O-line spots. I’m not sure if that’s normal or if we usually have more backups. That just seems paper thin on the line.

Really looks like it could be Seneca...!

Holmgren would be chewing on his own liver if he had a rookie in his first game—especially one that ’s put it on the carpet in the preseason—fielding punts. Presumably Wallace would be in near-auto fair catch mode.
