Field Gulls Podcast: Seahawks @ Bills Game Preview

I played it a little loose in the preseason, but today we step it up. The Field Gulls podcast will be info packed as we discuss scenarios, matchups and what to watch for to get a feel for this team's potential. Podcast starts at 1 PST. Call-ins are always welcome.

Can you feel it? Less than 24 hours. My life is in turmoil and all I can think is Seahawks, Seahawks, Seahawks. Must be the mono-mania. Let's show our championship stripes. Let's slaughter Buffalo.

For some reason it didn't like my intro music and I don't come in for like ten seconds. I mean, The Walkmen might be overblown, but The Rat is a hell of a song.

Is there any chance

we can get one of those countdown clocks that Buffalo Rumblings has?

Oh hell yes

I’m a little worried about Locklear being out, and I don’t trust Spencer/Vallos at all. Regardless, I can’t wait for tomorrow. Nor can I wait for the podcast.

If you still accept questions from here

How concerned are you (if at all), about Seattle’s special teams against Terrence McGee, arguably the top kick and punt returner in the AFC.

Give me the home, where Buffalo roams, and watch Jones get a hundred yard game.

by SSreporters on Sep 6, 2008 1:02 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Good question.

Mcgee, only returns kicks, averaged 24 yards a return last year, on kicks but this surprisingly lead to the 5th worst last year in the NFL. With an average of 20.7 team wide, I think if the Bills are expecting to have McGee be their number 1 corner, they may want to look at a young receiver or McKelvin as their kick returner. We were decent at 22.1.

Roscoe Parrish, is their punt returner/#4 receiver. This is who I think should be handling the returning duties for the team. While it would be great to have McGee do it all, I think over the length of a season Parrish should be their guy. Small, but quick. This lead to them having the best punt return average in the NFL, 15.4. I think this will be a real test for the Special Teams. Wilson and Hobbs I believe are the gunners, and this will be a time for them to shine. Minimizing Parrish will be a good step towards a win.

Sorry John if you were gonna cover this or not.

John Who?

Nice answer.

And when Seattle is returning, I actually want to see more and more of Burleson. Does he make mistakes? Sure. But Justin Forsett made this team and is also returning punts right? Sure.

Burleson was the man last season, especially with that run back against Cleveland.

Burleson was the man at returns when we had

Branch, Engram, Hackett (j/k), and a healthy Obamanu.

I don’t want Burleson anywhere near the return game.

Feel free.

Not something I talked about, and thanks for answering.

Why hasn't anyone talked about Hardy 6'7" vs Josh Wilson 5'9"...yikes!

If they put Hardy in the slot, Wilson will be covering him, and I’m thinking it’s automatic TD time in the RedZone with that matchup. Your thoughts?

Hardy is a hyped version of Jordan Kent.

With a tad bit more football experience. He has a basketball body. He is not Antonio Gates.

Holy crap, Huskies lose on a bogus call. But....

Fire Willingham.

Seriously...

I feel sorry for Jake Locker in this kind of offense.

by aerozeppelin on Sep 6, 2008 3:24 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Me too

But the offense is too Locker centered.

Bah, I’m sick of this, UW should just give up already.

Ummmm

Locker may be the reason they scored, but he also missed three wide open receivers in the last three minutes. It was a BS call, but games should never ever come down to one play. Don’t leave games in the officials hands.

The dude needs a new Defensive Coordinator

Whomever the Helen Keller he has doing it now and his whole tenure should be gone.

They called Excessive celebration when Locker ran it in with :02 left.

So they had to do a 18 yd FG instead of a normal PAT, and the PAT was blocked.

JM, I have to say one more time

that I really appreciate your work on this site. I consider us as Hawks fans to be extremely lucky to have people like you, Jeff, and the USSM guys covering our teams. Seriously. Awesome work.
