I'm personally hoping for at least 100 yards and 2 TDs today.
Enough of the Cardinals. This ends today.

On an unrelated note...
What sites are used to find the old combine numbers that are spit out on occasion? I’ve been trying to find old numbers and having very little luck.

NFLDRAFTSCOUT
one word, put in prospect name and nfldraftscout and you should find something.

They offer a premium service for $25 a year, but also offer free information

Well
I was just curious if John pays, cause I’ve used the site before and usually don’t get a whole lot of numbers.
by cashless on Jan 10, 2009 2:23 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I don't
You have to circumvent their protection by searching through Google.
I can find most of the numbers I need there. Other stuff just takes more searching.

McCoy
What are the chances we’d draft Gerald McCoy with 1.04? Do you think he can become Haynesworth – the draftee version? I don’t know if he plays the ‘other’ DT spot next to ’Bane or not. Is the the disruptor we need?

There’s a very good chance he doesn’t declare.

I'd put him at left guard, but give him line calling duties.
Of course, from there he could play anywhere we needed. Hopefully, the line is picked apart by vultures again.

Gotta look at Moore's 2007 season
last year he was AWESOME on a pretty mediocre defense. This season, lots of nagging injuries (bruised heel, bruised ribs) robbed him of some speed—the kind of stuff you can play through, but you’re just not healthy. He didn’t embarrass himself this season, but wasn’t a difference-maker.

With all the talk about running back being an overrated position and teams being able to find a good back anywhere
I hope people see Johnson and know that great running backs do exist and a talent like Johnson’s can transform an offense.
by John Morgan on Jan 10, 2009 2:15 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
Who else falls into that category?
Westbrook, Peterson, Brown?
by Nate Dogg on Jan 10, 2009 2:22 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Steven Jackson
not that he can overcome total suckiness from the rest of the offense. Portis when he was healthy and running in Zorn’s WC—not that that’ll ever happen again. I think a talented back could do that for Arizona…
I think the problem isn’t that backs are completely fungible, only that coaches fail to realize how short the window is for good backs. I would add one every 3-5 years and ship them out as soon as they slowed down.

When I was budgetting my beer I had two tactics
High Gravity and something my roommate and I called the Keystone challenge: Three Keystone Ice tall boys in fifteen minutes. Hold your nose, but it’d get you drunk (just not for long)

Tried to chocolate stout last night...
Normally I shy away from beers that are sweet sounding/flavored, but that was god damned tasty. I’m assuming the Shakespeare is Stout is also impressive?

Shakespeare is new to me
So I’ll tell you what I think.

While we're on the topic of Shakespeare
The 1968 Romeo and Juliet movie tugs at my heart.

can you guys be the pre-game? I want to puch the jokers on every channel.
I can’t help but just ‘mute’ them and wonder how anyone watches that stuff.

John you want to film a pregame show sometime?
You may gain some yards on the ground, but eventually Lofa will end up biting you in the ass.

I'm just hoping for a lot of offense

by John Morgan on Jan 10, 2009 5:37 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
He's overrated
Big receivers that catch everything thrown to then no matter what the coverage is are a dime a dozen.
Just look the Hawks’ roster, we have tons of them.

3 things that i hope i'm not late with
Crabtree to declare
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=3821753
Dan Quinn from the Jets is our new Dline coach

Joe Barry, Dcoordinator for the lions last year is the new LB coach

Not late
That’s a house cleaning.
by John Morgan on Jan 10, 2009 5:39 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
John, I try to follow your thoughts, but where do you stand on Crabtree?
I realize everyone is optimistic during the offseason, but if we don’t trade down I really want Crabtree. Am I crazy? (I realize a lot of people want him and I’m not unique, I just wonder what you think)
by GarethLewin on Jan 10, 2009 5:41 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
If Crabtree could aproach the impact of Larry Fitzgerald, I would be ecstatic
by dlinsley on Jan 10, 2009 5:42 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I was just thinking that.
A really, really star caliber WR completely changes your offense. They’re just flinging the ball up to him, and there’s not much Carolina can do.
A guy like that would make Matt an all-star.
by djafrot on Jan 10, 2009 5:44 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Warner to Fitz
reminds me of Brady to Moss last year. Like you said, throw it to him and the defense can’t do anything to stop it.
Just I think Brady→Moss was used more.
by GarethLewin on Jan 10, 2009 5:45 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Warner and Brady have deep passes Hasselbeck just doesn't have.
by John Morgan on Jan 10, 2009 5:46 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
He can still throw if he needs to
With Joe J (as someone else said) he did well. And take the penalty against Steve Smith right now. A big receiver forces stuff like that too.
by GarethLewin on Jan 10, 2009 5:52 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I'm just thinking that with a our new OC that prefers sets with less receivers
Crabtree + Carlson + Hass(not the receiver) healthy throwing less and getting hit less = a good passing game to complement our obviously new emphasis on running.
by GarethLewin on Jan 10, 2009 5:44 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I haven't seen enough to know a lot. Obviously, I've seen him be awesome, but I want see everything before I say much.
I really haven’t transitioned into prospect scouting, but I do think Seattle should pick someone safe at 4 and Crabtree seems pretty safe.

Joe Barry, Marinelli's crappy son in law?
by Nate Dogg on Jan 10, 2009 5:40 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, not sure about that.
But, y’know, linebackers coach.
And lest anyone miss this, this team is going Tampa 2 in a big way.
by John Morgan on Jan 10, 2009 5:44 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I've been thinking of that
Doesn’t that spell doom for our favorite gritty veteran?
by GarethLewin on Jan 10, 2009 5:47 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
very little resume on him beyond 0-16 suckage
And tampa 2 for sure. Thats likely adios to Hill and hello to a Suggs and a Suh type lineman.
It’s frustrating to see them go a different direction with the defense when the offense is starting to crumble.
by Nate Dogg on Jan 10, 2009 5:47 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
It is, but I think Ruskell was biding his time waiting for Holmgren to retire
I think he’s in full rebuilding mode.
by John Morgan on Jan 10, 2009 5:48 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Seattle has to go Crabtree or Bradford with that first pick
by Nate Dogg on Jan 10, 2009 5:41 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Bradford? Please, God no.
He reminds me of Danny Wuerffel
by Dukeshire on Jan 10, 2009 5:44 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Their games remind me of one another,
nothing more. The way they move in the pocket, arm strength, I see similarities. Granted it’s been 10 years or so, but I’m not optimistic about him as a franchise QB.
