I'm personally hoping for at least 100 yards and 2 TDs today.
Enough of the Cardinals. This ends today.
On an unrelated note...
What sites are used to find the old combine numbers that are spit out on occasion? I’ve been trying to find old numbers and having very little luck.

McCoy
What are the chances we’d draft Gerald McCoy with 1.04? Do you think he can become Haynesworth – the draftee version? I don’t know if he plays the ‘other’ DT spot next to ’Bane or not. Is the the disruptor we need?
McCoy looks good
There’s a very good chance he doesn’t declare.

There are many things in life that baffle me,
but I find few more dumbfounding than how Shannon Sharpe has a job in “broadcasting”.
Perfect, now Pacman Jones is on. He and Shannon should discuss events in the Middle East or what kind of cereal they like
Its the same reason Charles Barkley is on the air

Unger's versatility would be so helpful!
by tohereknowswhen on Jan 10, 2009 2:00 PM PST up reply actions
I'd put him at left guard, but give him line calling duties.
Of course, from there he could play anywhere we needed. Hopefully, the line is picked apart by vultures again.
I doubt Ruskell picks Robinson, so Unger becomes my next choice.
Having an insurance plan for Locklear if he stumbles next year would be nice.

Gotta look at Moore's 2007 season
last year he was AWESOME on a pretty mediocre defense. This season, lots of nagging injuries (bruised heel, bruised ribs) robbed him of some speed—the kind of stuff you can play through, but you’re just not healthy. He didn’t embarrass himself this season, but wasn’t a difference-maker.
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
Johnson is the shit.
I watched tape on him around draft time and, obviously, the speed was special but he’s really tough too.
Collins arm isn't as "live" as it was when he came in the league
but it used to be pretty damn good, thus even after decline, it’s pretty good.

With all the talk about running back being an overrated position and teams being able to find a good back anywhere
I hope people see Johnson and know that great running backs do exist and a talent like Johnson’s can transform an offense.
Steven Jackson
not that he can overcome total suckiness from the rest of the offense. Portis when he was healthy and running in Zorn’s WC—not that that’ll ever happen again. I think a talented back could do that for Arizona…
I think the problem isn’t that backs are completely fungible, only that coaches fail to realize how short the window is for good backs. I would add one every 3-5 years and ship them out as soon as they slowed down.
You can see this happening to Tomlinson
hes finished

But the Ravens should really try to let Flacco throw the ball, especially on first down. I know their negative yards per rush on first down is awesome and all, but seriously.

He's overrated
Big receivers that catch everything thrown to then no matter what the coverage is are a dime a dozen.
Just look the Hawks’ roster, we have tons of them.
3 things that i hope i'm not late with
Crabtree to declare
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=3821753
Dan Quinn from the Jets is our new Dline coach
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawks/2008613918_webhawk10.html
Joe Barry, Dcoordinator for the lions last year is the new LB coach
John, I try to follow your thoughts, but where do you stand on Crabtree?
I realize everyone is optimistic during the offseason, but if we don’t trade down I really want Crabtree. Am I crazy? (I realize a lot of people want him and I’m not unique, I just wonder what you think)
I was just thinking that.
A really, really star caliber WR completely changes your offense. They’re just flinging the ball up to him, and there’s not much Carolina can do.
A guy like that would make Matt an all-star.
Warner to Fitz
reminds me of Brady to Moss last year. Like you said, throw it to him and the defense can’t do anything to stop it.
Just I think Brady→Moss was used more.
He can still throw if he needs to
With Joe J (as someone else said) he did well. And take the penalty against Steve Smith right now. A big receiver forces stuff like that too.
I'm just thinking that with a our new OC that prefers sets with less receivers
Crabtree + Carlson + Hass(not the receiver) healthy throwing less and getting hit less = a good passing game to complement our obviously new emphasis on running.
I haven't seen enough to know a lot. Obviously, I've seen him be awesome, but I want see everything before I say much.
I really haven’t transitioned into prospect scouting, but I do think Seattle should pick someone safe at 4 and Crabtree seems pretty safe.

Tim Ruskell believes in change
Yeah, not sure about that.
But, y’know, linebackers coach.
And lest anyone miss this, this team is going Tampa 2 in a big way.
very little resume on him beyond 0-16 suckage
And tampa 2 for sure. Thats likely adios to Hill and hello to a Suggs and a Suh type lineman.
It’s frustrating to see them go a different direction with the defense when the offense is starting to crumble.
It is, but I think Ruskell was biding his time waiting for Holmgren to retire
I think he’s in full rebuilding mode.
Their games remind me of one another,
nothing more. The way they move in the pocket, arm strength, I see similarities. Granted it’s been 10 years or so, but I’m not optimistic about him as a franchise QB.
Imagine, just imagine for a second, the AZ cardinals in the SB.

I think, to an extent, the reason running back committees work is that teams that run back committees run more
Advanced NFL Stats did this game theory look at play selection and it found a ~2 to 1 run to pass ratio was ideal. That’s one reason I’m thrilled with Knapp. He also goes for it a lot on 4th.
Going for it on 4th is no longer good, EA put code in to bias against 4th down success..
Oh you mean in real life?
I do hope Weaver is able to touch the ball a bit this year...
He’s not worth much as a blocking back.

All the defensive guys work with Deion now
and a lot of the offensive guys are working with Irvin now.
When I watched him run hip to hip with Deion Branch before just overtaking him for the pick
I became convinced that he’s dangerous.
Yeah, I thought he was risky, but he’s worked out great.
siragusa says "carolina really hasn't established the run tonight"
immediately followed by the carolina run/pass graphic: 8 run 5 pass
DeAngelod 5-40, JStew 1 TD rushing.
I like him, but he’s sometimes making stuff up.
I can't stand Siragusa
I’ll never forget the game last year when Seattle was up 23-3 on San Francisco and he was ripping the Hawks because they should have been up by more. The guys an idiot.
Crazy scenario...
Philly beats NY and Arizona beats Carolina.
NFC Championship game in Arizona, right? With an 8-8 team?
Shoot
at this point, Arizona fans can’t be too heartbroken no matter the outcome. Carolina is ruining my night.
Arizona
with Warner and Edge are very good… can this be sustained over a period of years… who knows, but the thought right now is scary.
It is what it is...
That's bad stastical analysis
Losing teams throw more and in more desperate situations. The interceptions don’t cause the teams to lose, the situation that forces teams to throw interceptions and the inherent flaw interceptions represent cause teams to lose.
I don't think they are saying that interceptions cause you to lose
they are saying that statistically teams that throw interceptions lose. It’s a correlation not causation.
And the relevance to this game was purely that the Cats are walking down the table nicely.
Their thesis...
The official NFL gamebook says that the Ravens-Dolphins wildcard game ended Sunday at 3:56 p.m.
The Cold, Hard Football Facts say it ended at around 2:15 p.m., with 2 minutes, 30 seconds to play in the first half.
That’s when Miami quarterback Chad Pennington threw his second interception of the game – bad enough to throw picks in any playoff game, but this one made even worse by the fact that Baltimore’s Ed Reed returned it 64 yards for a touchdown.
is preposterous.
I'm not arguing.
I read a lot of football stats pages, all of them say stuff I agree with and stuff I find wrong.
All I was trying to point out was that table on the page, I’m no CHFF fanboy (Although I do enjoy reading their stuff).
Gee, you don't say.
Almost as revealing as that time Madden boldly claimed that the team with the most points at the end of four quarters would more than likely win the game. Heh.

Arizona has got to be dreaming
what with Philly playing so well. I can’t believe the Cards could host the NFC Championship Game.
Anybody remember Austin...
db coach that went to AZ… he seems to be a big loss now.
It is what it is...
You're pretty impulsive guy
You make your mind up about something new like three times a game thread.
Ryan?

Not sure what you mean
but if I am NY or PHL, I do not want to see Warner or this defense. The game planning has been superb.
I enjoy the needling… but that is what I sense from this game… AZ is hot.
It is what it is...
I have a friend like you
in the sense of changing his mind on stuff

Do tell...
where did I change my mind… do I like AZ: no. Did I want Carolina to win: Yes. Do I want the Seahawks to dominate: Yes. Am I willing to admit something true: Yes
Please explain my reversal… do tell
It is what it is...
you answered yep

sounds good.
Being Ryan isn’t a insult. He just the most impulsive person I’ve ever met.

I kind of wonder if this is part Delhomme and part Carolina's system being so simple that it gets picked apart in the playoffs.
Two good runs
Delhomme has 8 picks in their last two playoff games. Seattle completely solved their offense and it looks like Arizona has done likewise.
Just curious, but who do you think designed the gameplan that Hawks had to beat Carolina in 2005
Was it John Marshall, Ray Rhodes or someone else? It just seemed like Seattle ran a lot of different defensive schemes that we haven’t seen them do the past two seasons.
They had a linebacker press
and release to a corner with safety help over the top. No reciever is going to be productive like that.
Yeah
I believe it was Bentley that was usually pressing Smith at the line. Don’t know why more teams don’t do that, I’ve never seen Steve Smith so frustrated (except at training camp when he’s punching his own players).
Oh God, I forgot about that and Goings got knocked out.
Brad Hoover was their starter for most of the game.
I have a hard time believing that Delhomme suddenly sucks out of the blue
Really, this is about Arizona being able to keep the ball and score.
Its not out of the blue

Hm...
Would Carolina be interested in trading a crapload of draft picks for our first-rounder now?
I don't think they have a 1st rounder this season.
So I doubt that will happen, would be nice though.
it just would of been a back breaker
