Gruden Down!
According to Pro Football Talk, Jon Gruden has been fired.
Man that sucks, 3 weeks goes by, all the good jobs are taken, then you get your walking papers.
The GM is also gone, so they are looking for a totally new direction, though I never thought they were in that much trouble. If I remember right Derrick Brooks got hurt, then they fell of at the end of the season.
So where do you think he lands?
KC? St Louis? Hawks QB coach?
A place to bury strangers.

Kind of insane
Holmgren (voluntary), Dungy (voluntary), Shanahan and Gruden all out of their coaching jobs in the span of about a month. That’s pretty crazy. Its a damn shame we have Mora, I’d love to have Chucky here.

Holy crap, I wouldn't.
He’d use Hasselbeck for this season, get rid of him, and proceed to do his Gruden-esque think of cycling through old QBs.

Thats not a very accurate history of Gruden
’04 – replaced 36 year old Brad Johnson with 29 year old Griese
’05 – Replaced 30 year old Griese with 25 year old Simms
’06 – 26 year old Simms and 29 year old Rattay get hurt, plays 23 year old rookie Gradkowski for 11 games.
’07 – Signs 37 year old Garcia after extremely successful year with Philly. Garcia has been good in Tampa.

That's not a very good eye for talent.
Stay away, Chucky. You only won the Super Bowl because your were using Tony Dungy’s team.

Basically, he changes QBs more than I change my underwear.
Don’t forget how he benched Garcia early this season for no reason, and was heavily pursuing Favre in the offseason. I think he’s crazy and is best just handling Xs and Os. He inherited Dungy’s brainchild and hasn’t done shit since.

By that same logic...
If he doesn’t get credit for what he did in Tampa than he has to get credit for what he built in Oakland; either way, he was in the Super Bowl that year.

He does get credit for Oakland but
He wasn’t fully handling the reins or else he likely would have shipped off Gannon early.

Wow. He'll get a job before too long, I'm sure.

Wow
just heard this on the Mort report on the way home. I really wonder what the plan is in Tampa. Unless they feel like they have an in on Shanahan or Cowher, why would they dump Gruden now? I wonder if they fell out over the assistant coaches somehow.

Wow
I wonder how the Gruden years will be seen in retrospect. He got them a super bowl and the team was successful while he was there, but they already had his super bowl team in place when he got there, they had to give up two firsts and two seconds to get him (jesus Al Davis sucks) and now he’s been fired.

Asking a general question:
Is there any coach you would give up two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders to get? I don’t think I would do it.

This worries me from a 'Hawk perspective.
TR, Ruston Webster, and a few other guys in our FO came up in that organization and have strong ties. Would any of them now be interested in going home?
The last thing I want heading into the draft is for another organization to possibly be raiding our FO.
