Introductory Post from The Joker
Hey guys, I've finally decided to jump into the sbnation blog world and support our Seattle Seahawks. Been a fan since 1996 when I went to four games in the kingdome. We've got a nice community here, I like what I see, and I hope to try and contribute good things in the future. I already make a lot of videos on my youtube channel regarding sports (I think I have over 600 now), so we'll see how much I end up writing, but I think this could be fun.
Some random thoughts through the first five games...
I'd like to see Deon Butler get more action, I think this is a passing oriented team in terms of talent. I feel very comfortable with our top four receivers being on the field on key plays and I'm teetering on the edge of comfortable with Obomanu. I'd really enjoy seeing a lot of 4 WR sets, but my concern is Gregg Knapp has always been a run first playcaller, will likely continue to be, and may continue to not utilize our receiver-slanted talent on offense. Not gonna lie, don't like what I've seen on Knapp so far.
Could someone who tracks such things or knows such things figure out which players in coverage were to blame for the five touchdown passes our team has given up so far this year? I like to know these things but few people keep track of it.
Finally, I just want to say I'm really grateful for having an offensive line of backups that can hold up in NFL action, even if it's just against the terrible Jacksonville pass rush. There are other teams out there that lose one OL starter and turn into matadors, we've thrown a lot of people out there and I don't recall getting particularly mad at any of them.

I think I've seen some of your videos, you do a very good job.
I do disagree about Knapp though, I think his play-calling has been solid and he’s done a good job adjusting to all the injuries.
I totally wish I had done an introductory post, now
maybe I could just slip one in without anyone noticing that I’d ever said anything previously.
Five touchdown passes in five games isn't a lot
One per game, sixteen a year. I doubt anybody tracks it, but you could look through game highlights on nfl.com and try and see who was in coverage. But TD’s aren’t the whole story. I know one was Redding when he slipped on the goalline. Shouldn’t be too hard to find the other four.
I also disagree about Knapp’s offense. I think he’s been a pretty good, if not unpredictable, playcaller. He’s shown a willingness to pass quite often on first down and early in games. He just never abandons the run, whether it’s working or not. He’s much more open to trying new things, in many ways I think he’s been better then Holmgren was.
F.O. charts every play.
They track it, I’m sure. I don’t know if that specific of info is readily available, however.
Early prospect watch: RB C.J. Spiller, OT Ciron Black, DT Gerald McCoy, S Eric Berry, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Ras-I Dowling 6'2, 200, RB Jonathan Dwyer, Sam Bradford*.
In addition to the Redding TD that BB mentioned
Curry was in zone and the closest to Knox on his touchdown, I don’t think it’s fair to put that on his coverage though. Grant screened out someone on the Hester touchdown I think. Fisher was sucking in the vicinity of the Collie touchdown.
Those are just off the top of my head, if you go back through John’s break downs you’ll find the names you’re looking for.
Hey joker.
Welcome to Field Gulls. About time you popped up here.

His comments will have far more substance than mine.

I thought I would hate the Knapp hiring
but so far I’ve liked what I’ve seen.
And as of right now, the Seahawks have thrown 196 times (57.6%) and ran 144 times (43.4 percent). Although it’s probably a little more skewed due to trying to play catchup in a few games.
Anyways, welcome to Field Gulls :)
Welcome good sir!
Yes the running game has not been spectacular and yes one would like to see us pass more frequently. But we can’t all be the January ‘09 Cardinals.
From what I’ve seen of John Morgan’s play analysis and other stuff, Knapp is making good use of the talent he has to work with. Plus it’s the way he does things – running is essential to the offensive strategies and tactics he uses to win a football game. I also think that the gap in production between run and pass in Seattle will close rather quickly (in a positive way) from the bye on out.
And all the land was in ruin, and burnination had forsaken the countryside.
The fanpost page editor adds a ton of unnecessary white space breaks.
And you need to clean them up before you post. And sometimes I’ll clean it up and hit post and they will still be there. So I have to go back and edit.
NEEDS MORE FREEDOM!

I'm not sure you always get a preview, either
