What is T.J. Houshmandzadeh upset about exactly?
I realize ESPN has a tendency to spin stories in order to create controversy and such, and that may be the case here with the headline of this article, but he still said some stuff and I don't get it.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4566937
"I just got to get these coaches to realize, throw me the ball," Houshmandzadeh said Friday, another variation on a public request he's had for weeks.
"Maybe I've said it too much," he said. "I just got to show them now."
I would like to see him a tiny bit more involved, sure, but the guy has 27 catches on the season, even though he spent 2 and a half games playing with a backup at quarterback. Granted some of those catches came in garbage time against Indy, but that's still very solid. And it's not like he inspired confidence with his costly fumble against Chicago. If you factor in the Seneca Wallace element, Housh is probably on pace for a 100 catch, 1200 yard season. Did he really have to say something?
I still like the guy, like the signing of him, and think he brings a lot to this team, but I really wish he hadn't opened his mouth in this situation. If nothing else, understand that you've played half the season with a backup QB.
I dunno, what do you guys think? Am I making too much of this?

The guy was taking extra reps with the scout squad today
From TNT:
Asked why he was taking extra reps with the scout squad this week, Houshmandzadeh found a new way to ask for the ball, joking that he had a better chance of getting the ball thrown to him during squad squad reps.
“I’m just trying to get the ball, man,” Housh said. "So I think I can get the ball a little more on scout team.
“I’m trying to earn my money one way or the other, man. If they don’t want to make me earn it on Sunday, I’ll earn it during the week.”
Joking aside, pressed further on the scout squad reps, Housh talked about not liking what he saw when he watched tapes from earlier weeks of him running routes, and wanted to improve on that this week.
“I looked at the film, and my thought was if I was watching myself and I had to cover me, watching the film I would probably be like, “Yeah, I can cover this guy,” Housh said. “And I didn’t like the way I looked, so I actually feel pretty good now. I haven’t felt like this probably since the opening of training camp.”
I’m not necessarily excited with all of Housh’s talking, but I appreciate his competitive spirit, his strong work ethic and his high expectations.

The title of that article was VERY misleading.
Whoever wrote that article for the AP completely mischaracterized what Housh was saying.
Merely stirring the pot.

stirring the pot indeed
Everything that has been involving Housh so far this year had been greatly blown out of proportion by the media…
Watch the videos of some of these interviews and actually look at Housh while he talk and the faces he’s making, the tone in his voice, etc. He’s not being a TO cry baby or causing shit, that’s all the media putting a spin on things

One important thing to remember...
in Cincy, no defenses were double covering Housh when 85 was on the field. Here in Seattle we don’t have an Ochocinco (though Burleson is surely stepping up) so opposing defenses can key in on Housh. This, coupled with the new offense, probably partly explains Burleson’s surge in receptions and yards. But only partly.

Ocho Cinco was a nonfactor last season due to Ryan Fitzpatrick's weak arm and Housh still produced.

Right now? Housh is probalby upset over the morons in the media.
Or anybody who takes his jokes seriously.
Jokes, he was joking. Do people in the media get jokes? Sometimes I wonder. What a joke.

Incredibly misleading title of article.
But then again, did you expect anything of substance from ESPN?

I think some people are missing the fact that this is not an ESPN article, but is from the associated press.
If it was from ESPN, it’d be written by Sando who would not be dumb enough to misconstrue Housh’s words as such.

No, it's not ESPN's article, but they titled the link on the main page "Housh angry he doesn't get the ball more"
Putting the word ‘angry’ in the title was misleading and gave the article a bad spin for people who clicked to read it.

As much as Ruskell and Co. needed a wide receiver
I don’t think they’d pick up Housh if they thought his competitive spirit was gonna turn into him giving them a lot of crap about being underused or anything. Housh definitely seems to have the most attitude and probly biggest mouth on the team but it’s not like he’s on the extreme end of the spectrum. I think his behavior is fine and healthy for the most part.
And yeah: Pot stirring.

What was it that Housh said during the game last week?
He said something hilarious to the announcers, but I forget.

TJs just jawing because that's his personality
And the media is running with it trying to fabricate controversy within the Seahawks because we have such boring nice guy players. On Cincinatti TJ was overlooked because Ocho was such a big personality. Now TJ is the biggest personality on the Seahawks so it gives the press something to talk about when covering Seattle.
Much ado about nothing.

Sooooooo true sure i like having a team that Doesnt talk mess and show what it can do on the field
but it gives announcers stuff to talk about as long as our team doesn’t turn into the bengals of 2-3 years ago i could careless

I do not understand what you are trying to communicate.
by John Morgan on Oct 18, 2009 12:14 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
He’s saying:
" I agree, I too like having a team that rather than just talk smack, shows what it can do on the field,
but this (“TJ upset”) gives the announcers (“journalists”) something to talk about. Oh well, as long as our team does not turn into the Bengals of 2-3 years ago I couldn’t care less."
PS: a request to Americans from the English language; please stop using “I could care less” and “irregardless”. Both are incredibly stupid terms that actually stem from the perfectly valid “I couldn’t care less” and “regardless”.

Yes, the former term annoys me to no end.
Yes, you could care less. The latter is used because people think it makes them sound smart, when the opposite is true.

I think the way it's written is interesting.... a mini "Da Vinci Code" if you will.
The way this is structured, it actually reads:
Title: Very True. I like having a team that does not talk trash OR show what it can do on the field.
Body: As long as the Seahawks don’t become the Bengals of 2-3 years back, the announcers will have something to talk about.
I could be reckless.
