Da Bears at da Dirty Birds Game Thread
Football helps me appreciate something bigger than myself. I've never been able to root for a team other than the Seattle Seahawks. I've tried. During the playoffs, on bye weeks and when the season gos to shit. But I can't. At best I've been able to root against teams: division rivals, mostly, but almost any team that could reflect well on Seattle. So maybe after all, this is still selfish.
The family that took me in, the Chants, are Midwest natives and Bears to the bone. Without further specification, the Chants are family. So tonight I am going to muster my best to root for the Bears. I figure everyone else can pull for Matt Ryan and his fresh, still not overexposed face. Atlanta seems very vogue. I'll root for that media created monster, Jay Cutler, and da Bears.

I know the feeling well. I tried to adopt the Bears or Cubs or Bulls or something in my undergrad stint here.
Couldn’t do it. Even with the Sonics gone, watching the Bulls is still watching someone else’s team. A fat someone else.

I still feel a little guilty about being a Blazers fan
because I rooted for Kemp and Payton and Detlef to beat the Bulls and remember Kemp getting high to block Jordan. I was like: DAMN!
But I also rooted for Clyde and Big Slav and remember hating Baby Face (wife and I’s name for Zach) who I thought produced the emptiest rebound stats of all time. I swear I never saw a fucker shamelessly drop D and play the rebound like Randolph. I nearly jumped out of my skin when we traded him.

I tried to become a Blazers fan, I realy did
but I just couldn’t get over how the NBA treated the fans in Seattle. I was so bitter I couldn’t become a Blazers fan and anytime I’d watch any basketball game I’d get a bit upset.
by BrianL on Oct 18, 2009 6:59 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I've also adopted the Blazers.
I’ll never support Seattle basketball again. I loved the old Sonics passionately and you all know the story.
My hatred of them (the Blazers) subsided after UW’s Roy went there. And, why not root for them now? I live 15 minutes from where they play and all their games are on local TV. Now, if we could just trade Oden for Durant…

I remember the day I watched Seattle play St. Louis
When Seattle was still in the AFC. Seattle lost, but Matt played his ass off, and I knew we were going to be good for a long time to come. I am looking for that feeling again.

I do luv Delhomme
I was at the TB game the year Carolina went to the SB. Dude had a knack for floating a pass to Smith and having a Miracle happen.
Delhomme has lost all his supporters here. And sadly, he may take Fox, a damn fine coach, with him.
