Da Bears at da Dirty Birds Game Thread
Football helps me appreciate something bigger than myself. I've never been able to root for a team other than the Seattle Seahawks. I've tried. During the playoffs, on bye weeks and when the season gos to shit. But I can't. At best I've been able to root against teams: division rivals, mostly, but almost any team that could reflect well on Seattle. So maybe after all, this is still selfish.
The family that took me in, the Chants, are Midwest natives and Bears to the bone. Without further specification, the Chants are family. So tonight I am going to muster my best to root for the Bears. I figure everyone else can pull for Matt Ryan and his fresh, still not overexposed face. Atlanta seems very vogue. I'll root for that media created monster, Jay Cutler, and da Bears.

We should want the Bears to do well. If the Bears totally suck (say 6-10) then the Broncos get a top 15 pick since they got the Bears’ 1st rounder from the Cutler trade.

To answer your second question, I have no idea.
10 weeks of med school does not a practicing sports orthopaedist make.
"Enjoy" is a relative term.
The process is beyond grueling and takes a heavy toll on the psyche. The light at the end of the tunnel is magnetic, though.
I can see that.
I have friends at Drexel and Tulane as well, and they often say the same thing. I’m the black sheep of my group of friends. I took my MCATs, applied, got secondaries and one interview, and decided I didn’t want to be a doctor, and went to nursing school instead.
Our QB in HS tore his lifting weights.
Took him about 7 months w/ surgery, his scar looked like a vagina. Lofa will probably quicker with all the resources and superior shape he is in.
I hear freak
And I think Megatron, or better yet Andre the Giant. Andre is fast, but unlike other big receivers he’s thick too. Like a TE.
Fall on the ball. Why pick that up, Briggs?

October 11th, 2009: The day Justin Forsett became loved by Seahawks fans forever.
True, and it's also a matter of stemming bleeding at the source.
If you don’t have a pocket or time to throw, you can’t burn coverage. If you don’t have running lanes, you can’t beat the second level.

Not down on Ruskell, but
if the Seahawks cleaned house and brought in an ultra-modern offensive mind, I could deal.
West Coast Offense
Which isn’t modern.
October 11th, 2009: The day Justin Forsett became loved by Seahawks fans forever.
I hear people say that about Sean Peyton.
But I always felt like he didn’t do anything that innovative, he simply used his Personnel well.
Seattle's defense was not that bad today
Football is fluid. If the offense cannot drive, the defense usually crumbles.
John, do you loathe Bruce DeHaven?
October 11th, 2009: The day Justin Forsett became loved by Seahawks fans forever.
You're using it wrong!
It’s supposed to be sipped in the sun damn it, SIPPED IN THE SUN! Do you see how shitty it is outside? Do yourself a favor and buy some Dead Guy.
Eh. They probably fit go there too.
Where’s the direction?
I don't see the Hawks being on the list of shite.
And not because I’m a raging homer, but because the franchise is in a weird transition/rebuilding mode. This is to say they have a direction they are heading and are gaining ground, those other teams are just drifting.
A few elite teams (Colts, Saints, Giants even with the loss)
Then a bunch of mediocre-to-dreadful teams.
October 11th, 2009: The day Justin Forsett became loved by Seahawks fans forever.
Green Bay is not elite
October 11th, 2009: The day Justin Forsett became loved by Seahawks fans forever.
I think the team was just in too deep of a hole.
14-0 before the offense even took the field, I don’t think Knapp was able to get anything established, plus the injuries.
The Varsity in Atlanta is a cultural experience like no other.
They know they’re an icon and they quirk like it. It’s like In n Out in Atlanta (but not a chain), only way greasier.
I saw him on that
OT round table thing NFL.com has. God he was a beast. Was there a better left side than Walt and Hutch?
Part anyway.
He has given Seattle a defense to build off. Unfortunately, that is not how you win in the NFL.
I know the feeling well. I tried to adopt the Bears or Cubs or Bulls or something in my undergrad stint here.
Couldn’t do it. Even with the Sonics gone, watching the Bulls is still watching someone else’s team. A fat someone else.
I still feel a little guilty about being a Blazers fan
because I rooted for Kemp and Payton and Detlef to beat the Bulls and remember Kemp getting high to block Jordan. I was like: DAMN!
But I also rooted for Clyde and Big Slav and remember hating Baby Face (wife and I’s name for Zach) who I thought produced the emptiest rebound stats of all time. I swear I never saw a fucker shamelessly drop D and play the rebound like Randolph. I nearly jumped out of my skin when we traded him.
Realized I was a Blazers fan and started watching and…
I envy you. I tried to pick up the Blazers and it didn't take.
I love Brandon Roy and have watched him since his high school days. Love Bayless, loved Spanish Chocolate, love Aldridge. They still aren’t Mine.
I tried to become a Blazers fan, I realy did
but I just couldn’t get over how the NBA treated the fans in Seattle. I was so bitter I couldn’t become a Blazers fan and anytime I’d watch any basketball game I’d get a bit upset.
I've also adopted the Blazers.
I’ll never support Seattle basketball again. I loved the old Sonics passionately and you all know the story.
My hatred of them (the Blazers) subsided after UW’s Roy went there. And, why not root for them now? I live 15 minutes from where they play and all their games are on local TV. Now, if we could just trade Oden for Durant…

yeah because he's fat.
Get it? He filled up my whole screen. Because he’s fat.
I would think short would be a good for a guard.
An interior of fantastic Dwarfs could command Emmitt Smith sized holes.
On that note, why is tall good for tackles?
Leverage is king, and tall doesn’t usually beget good leverage.
Cutler's arm and the tight spirals he throws are fun to watch.
Even if the ball goes to no place in particular.
