Trade deadline is two days away

Any guys we would bother trading right now? I’d consider trading Seneca but that would be during the offseason. Can’t think of anyone else in particular.

Niners maybe? If they weren't in the division.

Although we have traded a WR to them before.

by MFAN on Oct 19, 2009 5:37 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, but do they expect much from him? He's missed a lot of time already.

Branch seems like a decent fit for them and I can’t really think of anyone else.

by MFAN on Oct 19, 2009 5:40 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Depends how they use him

but he should be as effective as Branch.

AFC West

I want to see both these teams play like crap.

I became an addicted Seahawk fan back in the early 80s. I grew up with the Seahawks in the AFC West. Someone else please tell me they understand the AFC West hatred and loathing. I need affirmation that I’m not alone here.

Yeah, I thought John Elway was the devil. Vance Johnson made me cringe. I even hate to admit that I had tons of respect for Howie Long, Marcus Allen, and Tim Brown.

My favorite all time AFC West moment is a toss up. The Largent revenge hit on Harden or maybe the first playoff win against Denver.

Who’s with me?!?!? Is it still cool if I root against the AFC West teams at all moments?

I think this broadcasting Jon Gruden scares me more than coach Jon Gruden

I just have that feeling he will strangle Tirico and Jaws to death.

Odds?

On a Gruden vs Jaws battle royale? My gut says Gruden is all talk and would fold if actually hit. At least Jaws was an NFL QB and actually took a hit or a thousand.

Angels win game 3 over the Yankees in 13

Call me sick...

But I want the Yankees to win about six world series in a row with a disgustingly overinflated payroll. Perhaps then and only then will the other owners realize the structure of their game is terribly flawed and in need of drastic repair.

Or when he had about 100 against the Bears defense?

Those other games didn’t matter since we were either so far ahead we didn’t need him and put in Forsett or Edge, or we were so far behind running was out of the equation.

Depends on the class

The best case scenario is get a HOF and that is usually going to come from the top ten.

But those are scarce and uncertain.

Most of the players at most positions within the top 60 or so drafted will start a comparable amount of time. That doesn’t tell us how good each is. If I wanted Seattle to draft a safety or a linebacker, I would want them to be cheap and from the 30-60 range. If it’s a quarterback or an end or a DT…etc.

And the elevator fell before going up about two feet. It was a newer elevator so the safety cord caught and we got to listen to Muzak followed by an electronic voice telling us to “Remain calm, 911 has been contacted.” every 30 seconds.

by John Morgan on Oct 19, 2009 7:29 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

You're actually better off with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Antibacterial soaps don’t kill virii and only help produce superbugs.

by abender20 on Oct 19, 2009 7:30 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Is that so?

I thought the idea was not to kill the bacteria and viruses but to reduce them and allow your natural defenses to ward them off.

by John Morgan on Oct 19, 2009 7:32 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The ones you "reduce" would be the ones with resistance

Reduce by removing oils from your hand

not through an antibiotic agent. Wash off as one washes off anything.

by John Morgan on Oct 19, 2009 7:34 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh

regular hand soap does that. Antibacterial soap is supposed to do that plus kill all the germs, but it doesn’t do a great job of the part and ends up in the sewer system at low concentrations.

Okay I'm going back to John's article

http://www.fieldgulls.com/2009/9/12/1027570/the-ten-seasons-of-the-2009

It’s a mixture of everything John has mentioned.

The Broncos make a surprise playoff run.

While Matt Hasselbeck is healthy today, any number of things could end that in a flash. He misses most of the season. Seneca Wallace regresses. The line is further thinned by injuries and caves. The running game exhibits its star power. One or more wide receivers is injured.

The special teams is miserable. – 3-13

The defense smothers weaker teams, but can’t win close games. The defense is good, but exposed against stronger offenses. Turnovers are infrequent, bunching in big wins, but disappearing against better opponents. The run defense is able, but not dominating. The pass defense is mediocre and suffers spurts of complete ineffectiveness. Marcus Trufant never fully recovers, and Seattle is forced into a zones-only scheme that allows big yards and long drives. Sacks are interspersed with long conversions. – 6-10

Matt Hasselbeck is effective, but sometimes injured. He starts most of the season and has some good games. The line is weak, but only occasionally dismantled. It buys Hasselbeck time, but blows assignments and allows ugly and untimely sacks. The running game is mediocre, but relied on to a fault. Edgerrin James, Julius Jones and Justin Forsett amass big total yards, but poor yards per attempt. The wide receivers are deep and strong and match well against most opponents. -7-9

The defense smothers weaker teams, and occasionally stars. It mixes dominant, high turnover games with sloppy, high yardage and points allowed games. It looks good against good teams and good against bad teams, but is liable to collapse against good or bad alike. The secondary is disorganized and touchdowns appear out of successful looking defensive stands. The pass rush is sporadic and significantly better at home. The run defense is very good, but too often it forces good passing teams to abandon the run and prey on the Seahawks secondary. Marcus Trufant returns but isn’t a difference maker. – 7-9

In other words, it’s a mixture of everything from 3-13 to 7-9 for us along with a surprise playoff run from the Broncos.
