Greg Johns from the PI is reporting the Seahawks have signed Mike Gibson off the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad. More depth is good I guess. This guy have any upside, or is he just a stopgap at this point?

Overview

A former JUCO All-American at Solano College, Gibson emerged as Cal’s starting left tackle midway through the 2006 season and was an Honorable Mention conference honoree there in only a season and a half of work. While Gibson lacks the balance and foot quickness to remain outside in the NFL, his toughness and physical run blocking make him an ideal fit inside at guard.

High School

An all-league, all-metro and second-team all-state selection … Participant in the East-West Shrine Game … Team won a pair of conference titles during his playing days … League’s lineman of the year as a senior.

Analysis

Positives: Stout, strong frame. … Powerful hands, upper, and lower. … Good initial quickness off the snap. … Generates good explosiveness with a strong initial hand punch and hip roll. … Effective drive blocker who plays with physicality and nastiness. … Tough. … Played through a torn labrum in 2006. … Impressed with his quick transition to guard while at the East-West Shrine Game after playing the past two seasons at left tackle. … Hard worker who will do all the extras to be successful in the NFL.

Negatives: Lacks the foot quickness to play in space at tackle. … Struggles to mirror defenders as a pass blocker and when adjusting to secondary level targets in the running game. … Marginal balance overall and lacks the quickness to recover if beaten initially. … Short arms (32").

Thanks for the info

but please do not copy and paste information from another site. Someone worked hard to write that and they do have the right to ‘own’ it so to speak.
