Sunday Early Gamethread
No Seahawks this week. Instead, we have the privilege of watching Favre and Big Ben challenge the limits of pocket protection.

He’ll try and get the Pats 42 points on defense before halftime.
He’s already given them 7.

It's absolutely retarded that cable only has two games at 10 and two games at 1.
I want to watch Peyton Manning instead of watching the Bucs get blown out.
Excuse me, make that one.

Does anyone else think it's odd,
that the NFL sends 2 teams to play in another country and doesn’t bother to air it nationally? Did they not know the Bucs were going to be awful?

Yes, and I'm glad. A better game.
It’s just weird that this international facade is still being played by the NFL. If it’s not good enough to air in American homes what makes them think the Brits want it? Whatever.

Something like Pats/Colts would make it interesting for Brits, but they'd never take a game that good away from an American stadium.

I love the city, I dislike the fans.
I’d like to be able to pull for the Cubbies/Bears/Bulls, but it just doesn’t happen. Chicago sports fans are as obnoxious as NY fans, just fatter and substitute some ignorance for arrogance.
Phoeni is lousy with people from Chicago
maybe there’s an element of self selection that results in a high percentage of douchetards, but it doesn’t leave a good impression of Chicagoans.
And, yes, I’ve been to Chicago a couple of times. Some of its interesting but a lot of it is boring and flat.

Chicago is flat. It ruins my hunger for cycling.
The suburbs are all genuinely boring, but downtown Chicago (including Near North, Streeterville), and the areas just north of those like Bucktown, Lincoln Park, Belmont, and Wrigleyville are all genuinely cool.
The suburbs aren't all bad (lots of interesting immigrant commuties in places)
but there’s a lot of suck there and there’s probably more suburbia than city in Chicago.
"Its not that I can't read and write, its just that I don't like to read and write."

If a person is from "Chicago"
they’re usually from a town called (Forest/Lake/Park/etc) (Park/Glen/Meadows/etc) from like an hour away from the city proper.
"Its not that I can't read and write, its just that I don't like to read and write."
-Charlie
That's true of any big city though.
Lots of people say they are from LA, but reside in Arcadia or Diamond Bar or Oxnard.
I was in Arcadia and some other LA suburbs this summer
It’s true- all suburbs look exactly the same.
I'd add that all suburbs look alike based on the region.
Midwest suburbs look like other Midwest suburbs, SoCal suburbs look like other SoCal suburbs
Not connected to big cities.
Gary is on it’s own at the south end of Lake Michigan, and Kenosha is in no-man’s land between Milwaukee and Chicago.
I see
my understanding of Chicago geography is informed by gold-lined, hogfat splattered tales of childhood debauchery.
Kenosha is kind of cute in an aww shucks Wisconsin way.
Friendly and small. Gary is essentially a giant refinery and a bunch of industrial filth.
California suburbs
Are usually characterized by extremely wide streets and a big sign in the middle of the street with the town name.
