The kicker was the last to come onto the field. I'm not sure he knew he was coming on to kick!

The holder had waved him on at the last moment.

Not a smart play Suh. Whistle went and he more or less landed a blow to the head of the QB Florence.

UConn scores with :38 to go up 24-21 against Rutgers.

Unbelievable finish.

Who heard of a kicker declaring early. Their prime extends well into their 30s so it makes sense for them to finish their education.

As for comments on Tebow earlier, I’m not so sure he’s unique as much as the power version of Vince Young. Young’s faster but a little less powerful.

That deep middle has become so important with the growth of the tight end and slot game

I would draft a safety type and play him at MLB. Invest in a double NT and pass rushing outside linebackers.

by John Morgan on Oct 31, 2009 3:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Yep.

I was thinking that.

I had this discussion with Brian Burke. The passing game should not be innately more valuable than the run game, but it is in the modern game. I assume that is because modern defenses are built off decades old ideas. Defenses prioritize stopping the run. They shouldn’t.

by John Morgan on Oct 31, 2009 3:35 PM PDT up reply actions

So many offenses are built off the run game

Seattle’s offense in fact. I wasn’t surprised a great run defense killed us. Just like I wouldn’t be surprised, if Seattle is a great run defense, the Seahawks beating Dallas.

We must dominate on first down and put Dallas into unfavorable down and distance

Bottling up the first down runs and Jasen Whitten in order to create obvious passing downs is an absolute necessity.

We keep them in passing downs and I love our chances in this game.

Smother the run

I think putting them into unfavorable down and distance is about killing the run. Best run O in football by DVOA and it’s not close. Put them in bad down and distance by destroying their backs, and Romo will panic throw.

It's my favorite genre.

My absolute favorite is Pete Philly and Perquisite, a Dutch duo (it’s all in English) who are fantastic. Two albums. One is a concept album (Mind.State) where each song perfectly captures a state of mind, like Paranoid, both in music and lyric.

You will want to listen to the rest of that album. It's a fantastic concept album.

Mystery Repeats is also a phenomenal album. Great lyrics, great flow, great music. Perquisite (the DJ) plays cello and incorporates that into their stuff.

Yeah

I love that slinky cello* strum during the first verse.

*I think.

Shit

you’ve hooked me. That’s fantastic.

And holy shit—they broke up?

by John Morgan on Oct 31, 2009 6:48 PM PDT up reply actions

Broke up? Not that I know of.

Tebow is a missionary for Christ, I’m a missionary for Pete Philly and Perquisite. There can’t be more than a thousand people that know who they are in the States, and I’m betting I’m the cause of at least 100 of those.

This is a recent and sad revelation.

I’m still mad. They have played 4 shows in the US. Two were in 2006 before I knew who they were, and two were at SXSW in Austin last year on the same weekend I flew to Chicago to interview for school. I would have gone to that concert otherwise.

Two things:

The guy in the video is plucking a cello, when it’s clear that a bow is touching a string somewhere (could be a violin). Why not show that guy as well?

Also, he’s no Will Smith.

Pretty cool.

I dig some De la Soul

and even Greg Patillo’s bad ass flutework with Eric Stephenson’s cello badassness

It's Great to be a Florida Gator!

They forgot El-ahrairah, for what use had they for tricks and cunning, living in the enemy's warren and paying his price?

De La is pretty classic.

While I’m preaching, let’s finish strong.

Other less popular hiphop I love and am willing to hang out here:
Cool Calm Pete

Doujah Raze

Murs, but you’ve probably have heard of Murs. Blackalicious (highest of recommendations).

Murs is great. Blackalicious is awesome.

I absolutely love MF DOOM. His beats are just amazing.

it's not just bad, it's terrible...so terrible it's hilarious

That was meant as a joke.

The only rap I can take anymore are Dead Prez and Sage Francis. Though old Public Enemy is still pretty sweet.

The stuff that makes radio play is embarrassing to the rest of the genre.

There is still a lot of good hip hop out there, but you have to look for it. It’s a shame that Common Market have day jobs while Unk and Souljah Boy chuckle their grillz off.

I'll have to give it a few spins

His flow is a little busy to me. I can’t get a strong feeling on music until I listen to it a few times.

Wow Brent. First he says Oklahoma played LSU in the 2007 BCS Championship Game

Then had Bradord back to pass when it was actually Barkley. WTF?
