Seneca and throws inside the hashmarks or WR going into the middle
Well my buddy made a quick observation of Seneca and how he has not thrown into the middle of the field. From the time he entered the game in San Fran until the 2nd Q of the bears game I counted 41 throws and only 3 to the middle of the field or to a WR moving towards the hash marks. One was when the front end of the pocket opened up and he hit Burly coming of his route.
I don't have time to watch the rest but just an interesting tidbit maybe you want to look more deeply into John.
A place to bury strangers.

I did not bring it up as related to size but
I don’t remember ever seeing this last year or thinking this at any point last year. Did he not throw many balls over the middle last year? Is it the play calling? A lot of the plays I can’t see to much coming across the middle in the tv view.

"Seneca is short" is my preemptive, flippant response
only to kill that response before someone else does. I don’t know if that is his problem, but he does have trouble stepping into the pocket and your post reinforces my fear that he is not seeing sizable parts of the field. One would think a shorter quarterback would struggle both stepping into the pocket and taking advantage of passing lanes towards the middle of the field. Maybe that is part of problem, but I don’t know. Seattle’s interior line is pretty tall.

I think there's a lot of truth to the "flippant response"
He’s got guys 3-4 inches taller than him wearing big hats right in front of him. The only way he’s going to see around them is if he gets out of the pocket.

So is Drew Brees...
And he sure sucks.

I am so glad you told me that was sarcasm
I was so close to flaming you.

I cheered the TV
when I found out they signed Brees. I take full credit for my own prescience.

You'd think teams would stack the box with really tall guys
And throw a couple of cornerbacks on either sideline. It’d probably work.

I'm beginning to wonder
If he is a better WR than QB at this point. Obviously we wouldn’t make that change considering the likelihood that Matt will get hurt again at some point. The team is also reluctant to put in Teel. But shit, couldn’t you trade Branch for a LT and sign Garcia to play backup?

Branch doesn't have more than 3rd WR value
There’s no way that we’re going to get better than a 3rd-string LT for him at this point (unless he starts tearing it up suddenly).

Which makes me even more annoyed when I continually hear Ray Roberts defend Seneca
and continually remind everyone that Jeff Garcia wouldn’t do a good job here because he doesn’t know the offense. If anything, Garcia’s entire career shows he only produces in a WCO.

Throwing over the middle is hard.
Especially if you’re short.
Things are much more compicated in there… linebackers, safeties, the occasional dropping lineman. It’s not like the outsides where really you can tell if it’s man or zone with one look and react accordingly, or going deep where there’s either a safety or there isn’t (not that Seneca could hit a B-1 bomber parked in the endzone).
