Cards Blog "Who would you take from the Seattle Seahawks?"
Interesting article/discussion over at the Cards SBnation blog.
Aaron Curry - This has to be one of the easiest picks, as Curry's only in his rookie season and has played very well so far. He will develop into a leader on the defense, and has a wide enough skill set to blitz, stop the run, or drop in coverage. Should one of our aging linebackers(Okeafor, Berry, Haggens) leave or retire, Curry would be a great replacement.
A place to bury strangers.

This is fanshot worthy, no?

To clarify
If you have a link, quote, or picture and not much else, it should be a fanshot. If you’ve got a longer article written, you should use a fanpost.

Not to undercut
but I hate the fanshot-fanpost split. I understand why people do not write fanshots, they are buried. Sometimes I think we should boycott fanshots and just write everything as a fanpost—it’s too ambiguous.

I always assumed "fanshot" meant picture exclusively since "shot" means picture

I don't know why it even matters, honestly.
Most people, myself included, forget to even check the fanshots. That’s why they usually have only a couple comments or whatever. I don’t think it really matters or reduces the quality of the blog. If there’s 5-10 fanposts a week, it’s not going to cause a problem if some of them are short like this…

Agreed
I think fanshots are nice idea that just are not real practical. I have no problem with everything being a fanpost.

I'd say thats a pretty complete list they have
Tapp would probably be an upgrade for them since their linebackers don’t generate much pass rush. You gotta take Trufant too if you’re the Cardinals. To me he kind of surpasses any need arguments, he’s really good and any team would take him I’d think.

Fearless Frog sighting, lol. I guess he still lurks. : )
A few names I’d add to their list for sure:
Trufant (surprised they missed a well rounded, 2 time pro-bowl CB in his prime)
Tapp (easy to see why they would miss this one, but Tapp would be an upgrade)
Sims (they could really use an above average interior lineman)
Hawthorne (cheap for the next 1.5 years and a potential star)
Debatable upgrades:
Hill (as good if not better than any of their current LB, contract is an issue though)
Wilson (continues to improve and looks like a possible star in the making with a pro-bowl possibly in his future)
Lawrence Jackson (could be a minor star in the making)

Trufant went to the Pro Bowl once.
Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

I liked this topic too
It’s a good topic for discussion.
For the Cards I’d probably take Curry, they have a big need at inside and outside linebacker. I guess Curry would play OLB in a 3-4?
For the Niners I’m not sure who I’d take. They need a pass rusher too but I guess when I think about it I’d be hesitant to add such a huge contract for a guy who hasn’t played the position. Maybe Trufant? Corner is sort of a need but I think Trufant is pretty expensive too I think. I’m not sold on Darryl Tapp like most of you guys are and I don’t think guys like Lo-Jack, Mebane, or Hawthorne are great scheme fits, at least to the point where they are big upgrades. It’d be nice if you guys had an impact offensive player, Fitzgerald would be an easy choice as the player to take from the Cardinals (although Adrian Wilson would be really nice). I guess… Curry?

It's not just limited to defense
I’d assume the 9ers would be interested in several guys on the Hawk offense.
You know you want Hasselbeck.

I know it's not limited to defense
Notice how I mentioned Fitzgerald.
I don’t really see who’d be nearly as good as Curry on the Hawks offense. Hass is obviously an upgrade, but he’s old, injury-prone, and expensive. Why would a team that’s a longshot to make the playoffs this year want him?
Carlson is good, but the Niners have VD already.
Housh is good, but is also old and expensive and isn’t quite at the level of performance where I’d want him too badly.
Other than that, who would they take? Locker or Sims? I don’t know, those guys aren’t premier players, I think Curry or Trufant would be a bigger help but honestly there’s nobody on the Hawks that’s a slamdunk fit.

If you just get one then Curry would be the obvious pick
by Nate Dogg on Nov 14, 2009 1:15 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Wasn't that the point?
I thought the point was to pick just one player out of the whole team.

I'm afraid Jake Locker
hasn’t made it to the pros just yet. You must have run with a rumor, silly kid!

Why are we discussing who the Cardinals would take from us?
Les talk about who we would take from the Cardinals based on need.
Beanie Wells: Really been impressive.
Larry Fitzgerald: Not a need, but come on.
DRC: Imagine Trufant, DRC and Josh Wilson.
Adrian Wilson: Moves Grant over to FS.
I’d say Dockett, but I don’t know if him and Mebane would work well together.
by SPENCEMAN on Nov 14, 2009 2:44 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
Mebane played pretty well as a run stopping DT, so I'd takr Dockett in an instant and play him at the 3-tech.
DRC would be nice, there’s the corner to cover the tallest receivers.

You have to take Fitz don't you?

Beanie Wells?
LOL. The other three I agree with.

They forgot El-ahrairah, for what use had they for tricks and cunning, living in the enemy's warren and paying his price?

Well if it's from each team:
Salary is a key and age are key issues for me.
Arizona: Adrian Wilson or Beanie Wells, can’t decide.
San Francisco: Michael Crabtree.
Saint Louis Rams: Otogwe I guess. Not really into Steven Jackson since he has a big contract and a lot of wear and tear.
by LantermanC on Nov 14, 2009 6:34 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
From each NFC west team.
Cardinals: I’d take DRC. Fitz is obvious, but we’re good at WR.
49ers: I still really like Joe Staley, I’m not sure how he’s been so far, but he’s never protected a good QB so he could be getting some unfair slack.
Rams: Umm…..Yeah, probably Atogwe. I’d also be interested in Incognito if he’d calm down a bit.

Staley is decent, nothing special yet though
It’d be hard to pass up Willis if I were a Hawks fan. You guys have a million good LB’s but Willis is better than all of them, young, and cheap. I guess it’s not a good fit though since that’s supposed to be the strength of your team, so I guess you could argue Crabtree.
by Brendan Scolari on Nov 14, 2009 10:07 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I'd take Willis and Crabtree for sure, but since those are already positions of strength for the Hawks I don't think it would really help.

It'd probably be best for you guys to take WIllis and trade him
I’m sure you could get a lot for him right now.

Willis is a monster
but he won’t be cheap for long..

I'd also be willing to give Leinart a chance.

Actually, yeah.
I’d be A-OK with having him and Teel compete to take over from Matt/learn under his tutelage.

My take:
I am only going to include guys that would be starters. Of course the Cards would want to take Mebane for their DT rotation, but does he start?
That said, I think Curry, Trufant, Carlson are the only guys that are sure to start for the cards this year. That is, if Trufant had been healthy. Maybe Tapp plays OLB…
On the flip side of things. What cards would you plug into our starting lineup in a second: Fitzgerald, Boldin, Breaston, Dockett, Wilson, Rolle, Wells, Warner, Robinson, Campbell, their entire O-line…
This exercise has really convinced me that we are not as good as the cards right now. They are better at almost every position. Earlier we weren’t healthy, but even healthy we just can’t stack up.
by michaelfox99 on Nov 17, 2009 8:00 AM PST reply actions 0 recs
I disagree on the OLine.
I don’t think theirs is all that good, it has proven an inability to move the ball on the ground and not particularly good pass protection either. I think the key is their has been healthy, but judging by the matchup, I’d say ours honestly has more potential.
Fitz yes. Boldin yes. Breaston? Over who?
Defensive guys are all about the system and support around them, and mostly interchangeable. A Mebane/Dockett 1-2 punch up front would be damn nice to have thought.
Not sold on any perimeter guys but Wilson, but right now I’d take Rodgers-Cromartie as well given our CB struggles, but not Rolle.
Bird Law in this country isn't governed by reason.

If I could take 1 guy from each team,
I’d take Fitzgerald from the Cards. WR is not a need, but he’s the biggest Impact player in the division.
I’d take Jason Smith from the Rams. We knew he was unpolished when he was drafted, but by all accounts he’s a great scheme fit, and it fills a huge need.
I’d take Patrick Willis from the 49ers. The last thing we need is another LB, but like Scolari said, he’s cheap (and my other 2 picks are expensive) and we could then trade or release Hill. If you had a chance to get 1 of the best players in the NFL at a position, you do it regardless of needs. I’m tempted to say Gore though, but he seems like he’s hurt to often, and having Smith at LT would free us to draft a RB in the first round next year.

I'm with you on Fitz and Willis.
Neither is a position of need, but both are studs and would boost the game. I’d take S-Jax from the Rams, though….the guy is simply incredible, and we could use the RB help.
