Paul Allen Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Not the greatest of sources, but there you go. I hope this is misinformed. CONFIRMATION LINK
Allen beat Hodgkin's Lymphoma back in 1983 with the help of chemo and a marrow transplant. Here's hoping he can do it again. I'm not well versed in the differences but I do know that Hodgkin's is one of the most curable forms of cancer. Non-Hodgkin's is a little worse as far as I can tell, but still beatable. Hopefully it was detected early.
A place to bury strangers.

Tough when you beat something once and it comes back years later.
Here’s get well wishes for Paul.
I actually bought a Betancourt t-shirt.

People with his resources dont really have so much to fear from lymphoid tumors unless its late in the game
and it’s metastacised. He’ll almost certainly be fine.

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
Has roughly a 50% survival rate….unrelated to one’s earnings. There are many different types, that behave completely differently (High grade vs low grade = aggressive vs slow) .
Metastasis is a concept that is not relevant in lymphomas of this type, they are almost all considered generalized and local NHL is unusual. His previous exposure to chemo (and a marrow transplant) only complicates things. This is a very serious diagnosis. Mr. Allen is arguably the most important seahawk of all time, and we might very well not be posting here if not for him. Get well .

Allen's resources buy his way into treatments that are not yet widely available.
One such treatment involves complete repopulation of the entire hematopoetic system from self-HSCs which eradicates essentially every dividing cell in the blood/lymph and replaces them with a freshly differentiated set. This treatment has been used in research hospitals and ~75% of patients with the most aggressive forms of NHL have no recurrence and no significant after effects. That’s just the most aggressive form.
Its a serious disease, but there have been some major, major advances in the field. There’s no such thing as a cure for cancer, but there are more and more treatments for it.
