Seattle Seahawks 81% of Winning
Brian Burke calculates Seattle to be heavy favorites at home against the Detroit Lions. Seattle hosts the younger bust brother, Field Gulls favorite Matthew Stafford. Stafford turned 21 about three months before the draft. Using PFR's research on quarterback peak, that projects Stafford at 12.4% of capacity -- far away the lowest projection of any listed age. Stafford has played poorly this season and that shouldn't end in Qwest. He will be facing an attacking defense, a roaring crowd and in all likelihood, an early deficit. There's no gimmes in the NFL, but hosting a struggling 21 year old quarterback at home is pretty close. These are the games to get amped for, because even the pessimists are likely to overestimate the Seahawks after Sunday's coming beatdown.

Wow John, if we lose it's your fault! :P

A few less mistakes vs. the Bears and we'd be undefeated at home
with SENECA AT THE HELM.
The Lions are progressing, but they need a near-miracle to win at Qwest.

Andron's advanced betting odds predict:
Seahawks: 30 point favorite
O/U: 30

I'll take the under, actually.
Sure, we obliterated the Jaguars with more than 30 points, but we didn’t obliterate the Rams by more than 30. So based on that sound logical reasoning, we have a 50/50 chance to obliterate the Lions by 30 points. It’s a good sporting bet!
Fans are typically idiots.

This, much like before the Jags game, has me excited.
Excited knowing we have a real chance to win, perhaps convincingly.
Early prospect watch: RB C.J. Spiller, OT Ciron Black, DT Gerald McCoy, S Eric Berry, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Ras-I Dowling 6'2, 200, RB Jonathan Dwyer, Sam Bradford*.

Double Calvin Johnson?
Looks like he’s playing after a full practice today. That guy, along w/ Stafford’s arm is a deadly battery. I hope we cover him correctly – the entire game, and put the heat on Stafford. Major heat. We know the fans will bring it. So must our front seven.

Correction:
Calvin was ‘limited’ in practice Thursday.
Thursday limited practice for Detroit:
RB Jerome Felton (ankle), DE Jason Hunter (ankle), WR Calvin Johnson (knee), RB Kevin Smith (shoulder), QB Matthew Stafford (knee), DE Dewayne White (elbow)

I'd suggest that the reason to get there early is so you can tailgate and get very drunk.

I was there for the Bears preseason game
when Forsett went off, and it was a blast. I was hoarse for 3 days. I can’t imagine what’s going to happen during a regular season game.

Yeah, I had one beer at the season opener and it was more than enough
I finished it in the first half and had no desire to drive back to Portland 3 hours later.

12.4% has a lot of significant figures
and also refers to potential peak production over an arbitrary replacement value (not total peak production).
I feel a lot more confident saying that Stafford will play poorly based on the ideas that (1) he’s young and (2) playing away at a noisy stadium on (3) a crappy team missing his WR1 against (4) a defense that desperately needs a win and chews up marginal teams.

I’ve got him on my fantasy team, but don’t expect him to play or do much.

they should lose a head coach as well.

Does Trufant or Lucas cover Calvin Johnson>

After last week's performance, great question
Wouldn’t be shocked if he’s doubled on obvious passing downs.

Does Tru or Lucas cover Johnson?
Judging by recent play in our secondary, I doubt it.

Wel, primary cover. I'm assuming they
also have a deep safety in every case to help.

This would be a nice (3 days after) birthday gift
To see the Lions lose 55-0 as the Seahawks sack Stafford 15 times.
There will be no time for Calvin Johnson to catch the ball. Stafford will be busy running for his life.

Who's playing worse, Stafford or Sanchez?
by LantermanC on Nov 5, 2009 4:36 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
Nevermind, DVOA has them right next to each other.
Sanchez 29th ranked at -20.4%
Stafford 32nd ranked at -24.5%
6 years $78 million compared to 5 years $50 million though.

the Lions are the Lions.

by LantermanC on Nov 5, 2009 4:43 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
What about that comparison between
Tim Hightower, JJ Arrington and Edge? DVOA can only allow you to compare within your own team then?

Detroit signed Jason David
As Demarcus Faggins (what a name) was put on IR.
I hope David starts. Hasselbeck can tear him up.

Something tells me these guys didn’t get picked on much, though.
