"If Hitler invaded Hell, I would make at least a favorable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons." --Winston Churchill
Super Bowl XL put the aluminum taste of treachery in the Seahawks mouths. It was not that the Seahawks lost, it was that the game felt unwinnable.
Tonight's game is unlosable. Should the Broncos win, the Steelers fall behind the Bengals. Screw the Steelers. Should the Steelers win, the Seahawks improve their draft position. Either Seattle wins or Pittsburgh loses.

100% with you
The past is the past.
The demise of the Broncos in '09 is our future. Pray hard.

I will forever hate the Steelers.
But draft position is the only result that will directly effect the Seahawks.

A good, fun game...that ends in a tie.
I don’t really care the outcome, but probably think know have more to gain by Denver losing. Indicators of a second-half of the season collapse, such as a thrashing by PIT would be welcomed.
Maybe the refs will hand it to the Steelers on a silver platter and call into question the refs being paid off, forcing the PIT organization to forfeit a string of draft picks. :)

My favourite Quote is this one
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.

I was hoping for a post on Field Gulls about this game
and I was not disappointed at all, sums it up perfectly. We need the draft pick improvement but I still hope for catastrophic injuries to Ben and Troy tonight.

I never wish injuries upon a player
But I wouldn’t mind seeing big Ben on a stretcher and a Broncos loss.

I meant to say Hines as well
But normally I agree with you.

Ok well, maybe I will wish injury to Stealers players, just not career ending.

I think I found a happy middle ground
Weird career ending injuries that have no future negative effects on their daily life?
by Hancock.Brett on Nov 9, 2009 2:05 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
A career-ending injury would result in future salary gains.
Thus, it would have a negative effect on their future daily life.
How about the middle ground of a season-ending injury? A nice tear in the pectoralis major would be suitable.

Not going to have a lot of sympathy for an already rich man
who has no physical limitations outside playing football.
Therefor I go with career ending, but not physically permanently debilitating.
Sue me.
I didn’t hope for him to die or be paralyzed when the motorcycle thing happened, but I would be okay with him being out of football for good.

I would cheer for either of these teams against Minnesota in the Superbowl
I’m cheering for the Steelers tonight because of the draft pick. And I have them in my confidence pool. And two of the three Steelers I dislike the most: Joey Porter, Hines Ward, Bill Cowher; are gone. But I won’t enjoy pulling for the Steelers. Also, I’ve disliked the Broncos since Elways and the ‘Hawks AFC West days. So it’s easy to cheer against them, even against the Steelers, and their first round pick in 2010 is icing on the cake.
Anyway, when push comes to shove this year, the team I hate the most is the Minnesota Vikings. I will hate them as long a Steve Hutchinson has another chance for a ring. I hate what Brett Favre has become (or maybe always was): a me-first prima-donna and media whore. I hate that they’re running away with their division and Favre may not have to play a playoff game in the cold. I hate that they’ve had great luck with their ‘bad character’ guys: Jared Allen, Percy Harvin, Brett Favre; are model teammates. And they’ve had unbelievable injury luck.
I’d take a Steelers/Broncos AFC Championship game and an (ick) Cards/Niners NFC championship game if it meant the Vikings were sent packing.
Am I wrong to feel the way I do?

No
my Stealers hatred just runs deeper. I wasn’t a Seahawks fan when we were in the AFC West so my spite for the Broncos started when we got their draft pick. If for some ungodly reason it was the Vikings and the Stealers in the Superbowl I would stay far away from a TV on that day.

Not a total win-win
If I remember correctly, 2010 draft will be the first where making the playoffs will determine order rather than a strict win/loss matrix.
Thus, Denver could go 9-7, Win the west, make the championship game, and give us the 29th pick.
Go Broncos!
It is what it is...

Then why "go Broncos?!?"
Don’t we hope they completely melt down, SD catches them, and they get playoff eliminated in week 16 again??

A tie.
It is a the best of both worlds for the Hawks but with no positives for Broncos or Steelers .
