Steelers at Browns - Game Thread
I see two exciting possibilities for this meat-sock of a suckfest:
1. Steelers lose.
2. Browns fail so completely they back a dump truck full of money to Mike Holmgren's house.

If Holmgren comes to Cleveland he can reunite with Porkchop (#77)
I’m glad he’s gone. Way too inconsistent.

Why did they schedule this in the first place way back in April?
Who thought Cleveland would be any good? They got TWO home primetime games this year.
ME! BANE!
Must everyone remind us the yellow line is not official, but it is accurate.
I want to hear “our yellow line is wildly wrong, but it’s official.”
Well then
Quinn actually looks pretty calm. The middle kid looks like he’s having an identity crisis.
Pittsburgh's offensive line
Decides to double team two guys and leave King Kong untouched.
ME! BANE!
I think Jim Johnson and Dick Lebeau use(d) the same basic principle
the blitz can come from anywhere on any down. Is that really so radical?
I'm noticing Bradley has blitzed more the last few weeks.
Hope he brings the heat with Schaub hurting. One Mebane/Tapp sandwich away from Rex Grossman.
ME! BANE!
Good thinking.
Let him play Niners will think he’s good and then Smith sucks in 2010. Reed is incredible.
SEA!
I see holding in games
I didn’t notice Kerney being held more than normal, but I was concentrating on Josh Wilson.
Smith released the ball quickly.
Curry (or was it Hawthorne) came in on one play and smashed him after he made the throw.
ME! BANE!
What annoys me is when I'm at the game...
…and Seahawks fans cheer for a Steelers loss even if it’s against an top NFC opponent. I know we’re not battling for a playoff bye right now…but if we were they would still route against the Stillers.
I'm curious
where did you pick up writing with so many ellipses? Not criticizing, just notice the trend among FG members and wonder its origin and significance.
I notice people will put an ellipsis where no punctuation is needed
I think the modern definition of an ellipsis is a pause for thinking rather than omitted words.
Sometimes I use it as if
My voice (or thought) was trailing off.
Like “Brian Russell is good because he wasn’t cut. The coaches must see something in the tape that means he doesn’t suck, and……”
ME! BANE!
This is one of my biggest pet peeves of the internet
It annoys me to no end for some reason.

I don't think so.
My BF is a Steelers fan and he seems to have gear going way back that says Stillers.
Could be wrong.
That's Best Friend not Boy Friend. Just to clarify.
Not sure about the ellipses. Just a way to divide thoughts in stead of broken sentences.
Now I’m avoiding it because I’m self conscious now ;(
I will root against them no matter what.
Only in the last Super Bowl was I ambivalent. I just didn’t watch. My reasons to root aganst the Steelers are not limited to the debacle in XL. I had loathe them because they are a bandwagon team, and I have to see their ugly paraphernalia every time I turn around. I loathe them because Roffles is lauded as being much better than he actually is, that he still was the Qb who won two super bowls even though he was completely inept in one and mediocre on the other. Because Hine Woad is a dirty player who’s smile makes me want to murder. I loathe the grossly overrated Santonio Holmes, who is the Steelers’ version of Deion Branch. Super Bowl MVP one moment, invisible the next. And we can’t forget their secondary, probably the dirtiest set of defensive backs in the league. Because “Stillers” is stupid.
So yeah, I will root against them, no matter what.

I think Reggie Bush has slowed
does anyone agree? I haven’t seen him doing anything like that long reception in the 2006 Championship game in a couple years.
Can we say Mario Williams was the right pick over Bush now?
I don’t know…I haven’t followed Williams.
He's a bust considering how high he was drafted
But I’d think if he were in the Dolphins offense he would succeed more than even Ronnie Brown.
ME! BANE!
He's only 24
and though it’s impossible to measure, I do think he impacts plays he is not directly involved in.
Because the dude is freakishly athletic
And while he doesn’t have USC moments as often as he used to the opposition knows he is still a threat in the open field.
ME! BANE!
Highest paid decoy in sports.
The Saints score a lot, usually while he’s filling gatorade cups for the fellas.
He's a lot bigger than he was in college
I have to wonder if the bulk is a part of his problem.
[DELETED ZOMG NO POLITICS]
I'm actually curious who Holmgren would hire on his coaching staff.
Zorn for OC? Bring back Frtiz Shermer as the DC?
SEA!
Not that DeHaven should get credit
but I was thinking today that our punting/kicking/long snapping has been damn good this year. Everything else sucks.
I think Dehaven does the small stuff well
and lacks creativity to the point of being bewildered by it.
I guess I'll ask, but how creative can you really get on special teams?
Outside of a fake punt or field goal.
SEA!
It's probably more ration to credit DeHaven
but it looked Knapp designed. It looked like the trick plays Seattle have run since Knapp became Seattle’s coordinator.
I can see that.
It is an offensive play, so that could be Knapp. I’m sure every team has a fake punt somewhere in their playbook, so without a coach coming out and saying who designed it, who knows.
It was awesome, though.
SEA!
It's fun seeing the Browns outplay the Steelers
and yet it lowers the likelihood of a dump truck full of money being back to Holmy’s abode.
Ed Reed will still be playing
long after Lebeau keels over.

Is it me or has Porkchop had no one to block for at least 5 plays tonight?
In other words he’s running around looking for someone to block downfield and getting nothing.
ME! BANE!
I don't get that. I thought the ball had to cross the goal line in bounds? Seemed like the ball was out.
My internal critic hated it
also, I dislike: my reflection, pictures of myself, the telephone and the sound of my own voice.
I think everyone hates the sound of their own voice. So I wouldn't worry about that, your voice is okay.

Not to be pompous
but scouring tape is long, often boring work. I figure they watch the game, maybe, and jot a few notes between Zimas.
I think they figure if they don't notice the player on D, they played well.
Which is odd thinking.
I heard Mitch specifically say this about Russell. “I don’t know that we talk about him? I think we’re happy with his play?”
Almost like saying a player is amazing because of all the tackles they have.
When they have all those tackles because they weren’t covering or blew their assignment.
Also a die-hard Hawks fan.
by Hopefulmsfan on Dec 10, 2009 6:56 PM PST up reply actions
I don't expect them to review tape and making calculated conclusions.
It just seems like they only see the plays that further confirms their opinion of a player and don’t do any sort of follow-up before deifying or condemning that player on the air. I understand that’s what most fans do but they’re getting paid for this so I expect a better product.

Anyone owned a Rottweiler?
Wife and I are thinking about adopting a dog (seeing as we don’t want children yet) and I’ve always wanted a Rott-mix.
I'm a dog man but I have no Rott experience.
I think as long as the dog was socialized properly and you commit to a little obedience all dogs are great.
I'm of that belief for the most part
though some breeds do seem more territorial or more hostile towards small animals.
This is true.
I had a corgi and he only let people he knew pet him or hug him. He also hated dogs that were bigger then him.
SEA!
It all depends on how they are socialized and what they are
exposed to as puppies. A lot of dogs are never exposed to much outside their own yard or house and end up getting nasty.
