Steelers at Browns - Game Thread

I see two exciting possibilities for this meat-sock of a suckfest:

1. Steelers lose.

2. Browns fail so completely they back a dump truck full of money to Mike Holmgren's house.

I think Jim Johnson and Dick Lebeau use(d) the same basic principle

the blitz can come from anywhere on any down. Is that really so radical?

I'm noticing Bradley has blitzed more the last few weeks.

Curry (or was it Hawthorne) came in on one play and smashed him after he made the throw.

XL isn't the Steelers fault

but it’s a natural rivalry and I embrace it.

by John Morgan on Dec 10, 2009 6:10 PM PST up reply actions

What annoys me is when I'm at the game...

…and Seahawks fans cheer for a Steelers loss even if it’s against an top NFC opponent. I know we’re not battling for a playoff bye right now…but if we were they would still route against the Stillers.

by BigWalt on Dec 10, 2009 6:12 PM PST up reply actions

I'm curious

where did you pick up writing with so many ellipses? Not criticizing, just notice the trend among FG members and wonder its origin and significance.

by John Morgan on Dec 10, 2009 6:19 PM PST up reply actions

I notice people will put an ellipsis where no punctuation is needed

I think the modern definition of an ellipsis is a pause for thinking rather than omitted words.

by John Morgan on Dec 10, 2009 6:22 PM PST up reply actions

Sometimes I use it as if

My voice (or thought) was trailing off.

I will root against them no matter what.

Only in the last Super Bowl was I ambivalent. I just didn’t watch. My reasons to root aganst the Steelers are not limited to the debacle in XL. I had loathe them because they are a bandwagon team, and I have to see their ugly paraphernalia every time I turn around. I loathe them because Roffles is lauded as being much better than he actually is, that he still was the Qb who won two super bowls even though he was completely inept in one and mediocre on the other. Because Hine Woad is a dirty player who’s smile makes me want to murder. I loathe the grossly overrated Santonio Holmes, who is the Steelers’ version of Deion Branch. Super Bowl MVP one moment, invisible the next. And we can’t forget their secondary, probably the dirtiest set of defensive backs in the league. Because “Stillers” is stupid.

So yeah, I will root against them, no matter what.

It is an offensive play, so that could be Knapp. I’m sure every team has a fake punt somewhere in their playbook, so without a coach coming out and saying who designed it, who knows.

Not to be pompous

but scouring tape is long, often boring work. I figure they watch the game, maybe, and jot a few notes between Zimas.

by John Morgan on Dec 10, 2009 6:52 PM PST up reply actions

I think they figure if they don't notice the player on D, they played well.

Which is odd thinking.

I heard Mitch specifically say this about Russell. “I don’t know that we talk about him? I think we’re happy with his play?”

by BigWalt on Dec 10, 2009 6:55 PM PST up reply actions

Almost like saying a player is amazing because of all the tackles they have.

by Hopefulmsfan on Dec 10, 2009 6:56 PM PST up reply actions

I don't expect them to review tape and making calculated conclusions.

It just seems like they only see the plays that further confirms their opinion of a player and don’t do any sort of follow-up before deifying or condemning that player on the air. I understand that’s what most fans do but they’re getting paid for this so I expect a better product.

Also a die-hard Hawks fan.
