Yes! Go Philly!

The demise of the Broncos in '09 is our future. Pray hard.

Lose, Denver.

Make me happy today.

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

2010 Seahawks Opponents

Home: NFC West, Kansas City, San Diego, Atlanta, Carolina, Giants/Dallas (whichever one finishes 3rd. Likely the Giants).

Away
: NFC West, Oakland, Denver, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Chicago.

Loving that Oakland trip.

With teams around the NFL adopting the 3-4

I hope Seattle has a powerful, athletic center it can match against opposing nose tackles.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 1:46 PM PST reply actions

I'd take Wilfork over Ratliff

3-4 with an ability to shift to a 4-3 sounds nice.

Defense played well in the first half. Didn’t show up though in the 2nd.

It is what it is...

by kidder95 on Dec 27, 2009 1:49 PM PST up reply actions

Figured:

what the hell’s the point in trying to keep the other team from scoring when Hass is just going to hand them field position back anyway?

He just told me we have the worst defense in the NFL

And that’s the main reason we suck.

Naturally.

The reasonable, reasoned conclusion.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 1:48 PM PST up reply actions

Yuck.

You know I actually think Fearless is a pretty knowledgeable fan, he just takes everything to the extreme.

by MFAN on Dec 27, 2009 1:52 PM PST up reply actions

His sig: Holmgren would've drafted Crabtree

Only if Crabtree is a fullback would Hasselbeck throw to him.

He was a major advocate for bringing Holmgren back because he built a Super Bowl offense that Ruskell ruined.

8 interceptions in two games

I hate it the way our defense keeps throwing all those interceptions

When Philly is right they can beat you so many different ways

if they’re hot in the playoffs I don’t think anyone can beat them. But… they’re up and down.

Dallas

They’re my NFC Super Bowl pick.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 1:50 PM PST up reply actions

Do you think so?

I haven’t looked at DVOA #s, but Dallas seems unable to run consistently enough to protect a lead.

Except they don't like Choice

The line is solid. I think the backs are meh.

by dcrockett17 on Dec 27, 2009 1:55 PM PST up reply actions

Barber is aging like about anyone would expect

and Jones is a bit overhyped, but Choice is very, very good back and could be 1200+ rushing 1500+ total yardage feature back on another team.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 1:56 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah

Weeee like Choice. I liked him at Tech, and I’ve read you go on and on.

But Phillips, Garret, et al. don’t seem to be as enamored.

Crazy

Seattle should trade for him.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 1:58 PM PST up reply actions

Choice and McCoy

The reminders of over valuing Lawrence Jackson continue.

Carlson at 28 and Choice at 49 would have been nice.

I’ll stop with the effing wish fest now.

Still not ready to give up on Lo Jack

I thought he was the next Phillip Daniels when we drafted him.

He needs some more consistent, tough love coaching, but the brain and muscle are starting to turn into a football player.

McCoy

over Unger. Ok, enough from me on this.

by kidder95 on Dec 27, 2009 2:00 PM PST up reply actions

Their refusal to acknowledge what they have in Choice

(and what they don’t in Barber) is what makes me poo poo Dallas’ playoff chances.

the only real question is whether he can stay healthy long term

if he’s healthy he’s so uber quick in an out of cuts you can’t stay with him.

I think he can

He’s very adept at avoid hits.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 2:05 PM PST up reply actions

The guy I think of...

when I see Jackson is Eric Metcalf (who I LOVED as a kid).

I don’t think he gets hit. The only issue is that a knee injury that robs him of just a quarter-step off his quickness makes him a very different player.

A posession receiver Diva...

Lloyd is a kind of Highlander. He can only be killed by other possession receiver Divas (e.g., Housh, Ochocinco)

I've watched Lloyd since he played at Illinois

superior hands. He’s never had any speed. He never even had the quicks of a guy like Randel El.

He once had elite speed

but no more. He’s always been a fantastic route runner, even when he had good speed. But he’s no speed receiver any more.

but guy can’t afford to lose an ounce of burst.

If he had fallen to the late first

I think he would have been worth signing. 12 is kind of crazy high though.

Was never as enamored with him as some...

He didn’t catch the ball much at UGa, but has shown an ability to catch it a bit since coming to Denver.

the numbers are there

but funny — not my recollection of him at all, save a couple of screens for scores in big games. In Richt’s offense that year they seemed to rarely throw to the backs, but obviously they did.

He's pretty agile and sure handed and redirects well

I think Richt envisions “Pro Style” meaning, pro style circa 1986.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 2:26 PM PST up reply actions

He had a checkdown

about 2 yards downfield. Not sure why he didn’t take it.

by somethingwitty on Dec 27, 2009 2:22 PM PST up reply actions

They must have thought Philly was done throwing to Celek today.

by somethingwitty on Dec 27, 2009 2:23 PM PST reply actions

Must have missed most of those

For what it’s worth the one sack we actually had that wasn’t negated by a penalty was split between LoJack and Tapp.

I couldn’t imagine a run game existing with this pass attack. Teams are stacking 11 in the box.

I'd put that one at the bottom of the list of Ruskell's sins

you’re going to lose guys that can help you. Seattle needed to see what it had in Owen Schmitt, and didn’t need to overpay for a guy that’s not a difference maker in Knapp’s offense.

No need to get carried away here

I think they’re still pretty good. They still got that left side and DJAX is money in the red zone.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 2:45 PM PST up reply actions

That's not true

Schmitt should still develop. He’s young and inexperienced. It wasn’t Weaver or Schmitt, it Weaver or Griffith.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 2:44 PM PST up reply actions

Scmitt had better improve his blitz pickups and blocking as a whole

Because his other skill set sucks compared to Weaver/Griffith. With the FB now Hasselbeck’s first read, Weaver would have rocked.

It is what it is...

by kidder95 on Dec 27, 2009 2:45 PM PST up reply actions

I credited Ruskell at the time

but I am starting to wonder if he just got lucky. He certainly didn’t show the same vision in drafting and retaining Coutu.

by John Morgan on Dec 27, 2009 2:46 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, Coutu

Once Mare proved he still had his leg by booting so many kickoffs into the endzone, it should’ve been pretty obvious. And it’s not like kickers don’t kick until they’re 50. I don’t know why he thought Coutu would be so great. He never recovered from his college injury.
