Bills Hire GM
The Bills have promoted their college scouting director, Buddy Nix, to general manager. Nix, 70, is the former Chargers assistant general manager.
Cross one off the prospective GM list. This also keeps other higher-profile candidates alive. I'll be following other teams' hires a lot more closely this year. This means guys like Cowher could still be available. I can't say Nix was on my radar, and I'm not sad to see him get hired by a team not named the Seahawks.

Is Cowher after a coach/GM gig?
And are the Seahawks really willing to give anyone that kind of power in the organization?
And doesn't he want to stay on the East Coast anyway, regardless of any desire one may possess to have him here?

I have no idea.
I used Cowher as an example. To clarify, I meant hi-profile candidates in general but the pool of even non hi-profile candidates is also unaffected by this move. I really see no negative consequence to the Bills hiring this guy and it leaves one more candidate available and one less team in need of a similar position that we are looking for in Seattle.
This.
Who knows?
But I would say that with Paul Allen around, that is a potential possibility. He did it to lure Holmgren to the Seahawks.

Cross out "potential". Sentence became redundant.

Those are the only people willing to live in upstate NY these days.
That region has a serious drain of young people. It’s one of the oldest areas in the nation because of the out-migration of young people. The stereotype is Jerry Seinfeld’s parents moving to Florida, but the reality is more like college grads getting the hell out of the cold.

ancient owner Ralph Wilson
The oldest owner in the NFL has hired a 70-year old GM. Same owner what brought old Marv Levy out of retirement to “revive” the team a few years ago. Ralph Wilson is 91 and doesn’t like to overpay young whipper-snappers, which seems to be anyone under 60 in his book.
And I’m from upstate NY, I agree that its a place young people should get out of.
Still, ya gotta love a football team that knows how to play in the snow!
