I like Calais

the rest can fuck themselves.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 5:36 PM PST reply actions

I know

That’s why I like him.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 5:40 PM PST up reply actions

There you go

Myself, I find it off putting.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 5:42 PM PST up reply actions

Dinner parties I don't mind

I mean, we all do it, am I right? But it is disconcerting at brunch, I’m trying to enjoy my melon A-Dub…put the baby away!

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 5:44 PM PST up reply actions

No, I hear you.

It’s all personal preference. I chalk it up to how you’re raised. If you are forced to have it as a kid, of course you wont like it when you’re older.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 5:47 PM PST up reply actions

This is starting well.

I can savor a Cardinals meltdown.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 5:48 PM PST reply actions

I did some thinking while in the shower.

I want Suh, and I want a pass-rushing end. I want a QB too. I don’t see how all three of those things can be accomplished via the draft.

by abender20 on Dec 6, 2009 5:56 PM PST reply actions

Suh is possible

but only if Seattle finds a quarterback somewhere else.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:02 PM PST up reply actions

That's what I was thinking.

But as an OSU fan I have watched Canfield a lot, and it is only this season that he has developed good decision making. Which isn’t necessarily a criticism, just that he is still early in the process.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 6:04 PM PST up reply actions

I think Clausen could be very good

but I don’t see him escaping the top five.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:06 PM PST up reply actions

Shit

Kansas City might take him.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:06 PM PST up reply actions

He isn't to QB

what Suh is to DT in my opinion.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 6:07 PM PST up reply actions

I wouldn't do that

I’m not sure I would chase Suh.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:07 PM PST up reply actions

Suh could transform this defense to top 10.

Sign Campbell and maybe the offense can become average (Unger has a year under his belt, Butler comes along, Carlson comes back strong).

It’s a tough call to make, but I think it would be worth it.

SEA!

by MFAN on Dec 6, 2009 6:10 PM PST up reply actions

Still need to add a tackle somehow.

Seattle needs more talent at that position. Maybe Charlie Brown falls to the second.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:11 PM PST up reply actions

Campbell impressed me today

its the first Ive seen him play a whole game, but the Saints still won :)

by Strictnine on Dec 6, 2009 6:11 PM PST up reply actions

Wins and losses are overrated in this case...

If the kicker makes that chip-shot, Campbell and the ‘Skins win. All the things that led to the loss were someone else’s doing.

by Kryten on Dec 7, 2009 9:58 AM PST up reply actions

That's the boat I am in.

I was fairly stoked on the QB class before the season , and have had my hopes dashed.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 6:06 PM PST up reply actions

Contend for what?

Playoffs? The Seahawks are not contenders beyond that.

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

by Carl Shinyama on Dec 6, 2009 5:56 PM PST reply actions

Anything can happen

in the playoffs, the Stealers proved that

by Strictnine on Dec 6, 2009 6:09 PM PST up reply actions

I would use the Cardinals as a better example

Because the Steelers were a solid team and could not just compete, but win against teams that were above average to pretty good. Other than the 49ers, The Seahawks have not shown us that this year.

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

by Carl Shinyama on Dec 6, 2009 6:39 PM PST up reply actions

Though I am not opposed to Seattle switching to a 3-4

I think this defense deserves a chance to see what it can become.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:07 PM PST reply actions

You can throw with either arm

Thanks Michaels, I didn’t know the left arm was available. Good thing for Canfield.

by Gihyou on Dec 6, 2009 6:19 PM PST reply actions

He'd be pretty effed otherwise.

“Sorry kid, you just can’t play in this league.”

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:21 PM PST up reply actions

I just tuned in here....

LOVE the biblical reference to Quest Field once the rein of defensive dominance begins….

Can you even imagine how loud that will be? I’m talking early 90’s WSU “shark attack” defense.

Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.

by iverson2169 on Dec 6, 2009 6:28 PM PST reply actions

I was a student there at the time...

We couldn’t wait to get Chad Davis off the field so the defense could come on… there were games they outscored the offense.

Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.

by iverson2169 on Dec 6, 2009 6:30 PM PST up reply actions

Absolutely!

There is nothing as fun as watching a defense kick the other teams teeth in.

Bring Your Game, Leave Your Name.

by iverson2169 on Dec 6, 2009 6:32 PM PST up reply actions

if arizona wins

does that eliminate us from any playoff chance?

by Funballad on Dec 6, 2009 6:36 PM PST reply actions

Two wins will.

That’ll give them at least a 9-7 record, and the tiebreaker over us.

by Hmph on Dec 6, 2009 6:38 PM PST up reply actions

That's the big thing.

They have the tie-breaker. Seattle really needs a miracle for the playoffs.

SEA!

"I can't see any difference"

Isn’t that like a firemen not being able to smell smoke?

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:37 PM PST reply actions

or is

there any miracle possible at all?

by Funballad on Dec 6, 2009 6:38 PM PST reply actions

No. I'd be upset.

O-line, QB, and/or DT.

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

by Carl Shinyama on Dec 6, 2009 6:46 PM PST up reply actions

so many options, this is going to be an exciting draft (hopefully)

Would love Spiller with the second pick. The first pick will probably come down to the best player left after those ahead have picked. No idea how it’s going to shake out. I wouldn’t be disappointed with Berry, but i guess that will depend on who we skip over.

by B.B.Finnegan on Dec 6, 2009 6:52 PM PST up reply actions

Are safeties really worth that high of a pick?

It seems like an easy position to address in FA or the draft.

by redwolf75 on Dec 6, 2009 6:46 PM PST up reply actions

If they're great

no one would argue Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:47 PM PST up reply actions

Look at the Steelers post Polamalu, the Reskins post Taylor, the Colts without Sanders

Look at what Reed does for the Ravens. Safeties can be playmakers involved in every play.

by Nate Dogg on Dec 6, 2009 6:47 PM PST up reply actions

What about Laron Landry

I know John was high on him, but how much has he truly contributed to the Redskins D as a top-10 safety?

by aerozeppelin on Dec 6, 2009 6:51 PM PST up reply actions

You know what alarms me

No Ruskell means Taylor Mays is back in the conversation.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:45 PM PST reply actions

Not character

Ruskell doesn’t draft guys that have no idea what they’re doing. At least no defenders that have no idea what they’re doing.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 6:48 PM PST up reply actions

.. Damn you.

I hadn’t even considered that until you brought it up

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

by Carl Shinyama on Dec 6, 2009 6:48 PM PST up reply actions

Just depends on the GM.

A strong finish could give Ruston Webster the job, doubt he would take Mays.

by Stevo's on Dec 6, 2009 6:56 PM PST up reply actions

I kinda want Arizona to win

Because I want New Orleans to get homefield advantage and I don’t think they’ll go 16-0

by B.B.Finnegan on Dec 6, 2009 6:57 PM PST reply actions

That's what I'd like to see.

Just wish that Seattle was one of them

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

by Carl Shinyama on Dec 6, 2009 6:59 PM PST up reply actions

Not gonna happen

Seattle will crush New Orleans in the playoffs

by B.B.Finnegan on Dec 6, 2009 7:02 PM PST up reply actions

I would hate to see that

It would bother me if the league is so unbalanced like that—where two teams can go undefeated into the post-season.

by aerozeppelin on Dec 6, 2009 7:02 PM PST up reply actions

Why?

Why should no one ever go undefeated? You want everyone to 8-8 and have tiebreakers to determine the playoff schedule. That is what you are basically saying.

by Wilder. on Dec 6, 2009 7:04 PM PST up reply actions

Because I'm secretly a socialist

I’m not saying no team should go undefeated, but if you see two teams in a 32 team league go undefeated in a 16 game season plus postseason, there’s something wrong. I just want to see competition, and not see the same team win over and over again. The game loses its excitement.

by aerozeppelin on Dec 6, 2009 7:11 PM PST up reply actions

So you are advocating that all 32 teams should play each other during the regular season?

Look, an undefeated Colts and Saints teams meeting in the Super Bowl is the most exciting scenario possible, outside neither of them being the Seahawks. It is fitting that each are representing the AFC and NFC. If both were from the same conference, then I could see the letdown. But they are not.

by Wilder. on Dec 6, 2009 7:20 PM PST up reply actions

What makes Saints vs Colts more exciting than any of playoff scenario?

Part of what makes the playoffs exciting is the unpredictable nature of it. The last two Super Bowls were the most exciting in memory, and they both featured teams—Giants and Cards—that essentially “weren’t supposed to be there” and still put on a tremendous show.

by aerozeppelin on Dec 6, 2009 7:27 PM PST up reply actions

I'll be sad the day the Dolphins undefeated season record falls

I’m old enough to remember watching it, and its legendary at this point.

I hate the Cardinals

I hate their stupid red birdie on their helmets. I hate their stupid shopping-mall-like stadium. I hate their Red Zone. I hate their fans. I hate Darnell Dockett. I hate all their high draft choices on the field. I hate their city. I hate having them in my team’s division. I just hate them.

"Football players are temperamental. That's 90 percent temper and 10 percent mental." - Doug Plank

by Stevo's on Dec 6, 2009 7:00 PM PST reply actions

You forgot

How they’re now the darlings of the media now that they’ve emerged from alternating eras of mediocrity and just being bad, while when Seattle experienced a similar renaissance the most we ever heard was, “Oh. Them. Is Seattle even in the US?”

by Hmph on Dec 6, 2009 7:23 PM PST up reply actions

Playoffs? Don't talk to me about playoffs.

The ‘Hawks can’t hang with the big boys this year. It would just be an embarassment. I’d like the Seahawks to play well down the stretch and end the season on a high. But at this point a good draft pick is better than a dubious playoff run.

Anyway, I hate the Vikings much more than I hate the Cards…at least as long as Steve Hutchinson plays for them. The whole Favre thing doesn’t help either. EJ Henderson? Starcaps. Yeah, screw the Vikes.

by Keasley on Dec 6, 2009 7:05 PM PST reply actions

Random question while we're at it

Who else liked the darker blue pants today?

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

by Carl Shinyama on Dec 6, 2009 7:10 PM PST reply actions

I'll lay this on the line

I don’t think Seattle has a shot at the playoffs. I almost resent the naive belief that it does. But I can’t help but root for the Vikings in the second half. Even if it’s fleeting, better for the team to be playing for something as long as possible.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:12 PM PST reply actions

That said

I gave up hope for the playoffs weeks ago, but I still want to see the team perform well because I need to see that they’re more competitive than they were last season.

by BrianL on Dec 6, 2009 7:20 PM PST up reply actions

NO! ME WANT BETTER DRAFT POSITION!!

Ok, that was a lie. I want the Seahawks to make the damn playoffs. I love that they actually have a shot to play for something.

Sam Bradford, future Seattle Seahawk.

by Carl Shinyama on Dec 6, 2009 7:13 PM PST up reply actions

A part of me wants that too

And then another part just wants a good game. I’ll be rooting for the Vikes until they go ahead.

by B.B.Finnegan on Dec 6, 2009 7:15 PM PST up reply actions

1995 Mariners!

It’s a slim chance, but it would be awesome if we can pull it out.

by Wilder. on Dec 6, 2009 7:17 PM PST up reply actions

It does not surprise me Arizona is playing so well

Great run defense against an offense predicated on the run.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:15 PM PST reply actions

Elite, though

LIke that absolute last layer of definition. The best.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:19 PM PST up reply actions

No way.

Curry was the best linebacker in the best linebacker draft I can ever remember.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:23 PM PST up reply actions

Jackson is more of an anchor

but he’s athletic enough to be disruptive.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:25 PM PST up reply actions

I'll buy that.

And, for the record, I do think Curry is elite. But then could we not argue that Harvin is reaping the rewards of a potent offense and is not truly Calvin Johnson, Chris Johnson elite?

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 7:27 PM PST up reply actions

That's what I meant when I said we need a new position for guys like him.

He is a superior athlete, but he needs a certain set of circumstances to be dominate. When I think of elite I think of a person that you could plug into any system and would still kick ass.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 7:30 PM PST up reply actions

Do many defensive ends play well in their first year?

We may not know until next year. I don’t follow Kansas City, but you’d think he’d be playing more.

by B.B.Finnegan on Dec 6, 2009 7:29 PM PST up reply actions

Curry is a special player

Once he get it down, he’d going to dominate, I think

by B.B.Finnegan on Dec 6, 2009 7:25 PM PST up reply actions

Fucking PA quarterback

and I think this might be a statement game for the Cards.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:20 PM PST reply actions

Peterson needs to bust one

or that Arizona offense will be emboldened and this thing could get silly.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:27 PM PST reply actions

Arizona is so close to being elite

If only their defense was consistent and the o-line was better.

His press conference after the Bears game was hilarious

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

by smileyman on Dec 6, 2009 7:41 PM PST up reply actions

That team was ready made

I think Tomlin is great at what he does, but if it was a coach fantasy draft, I’d take Whisenhunt first.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:42 PM PST up reply actions

I like Sparano to

but Whisenhunt went to the Super Bowl last year and is building a contender this year. With the Cardinals.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:43 PM PST up reply actions

But the Cards always had talent

Fitz, Boldin, Wilson, Dockett, etc.

It’s not like he built the team ground up.

by aerozeppelin on Dec 6, 2009 7:46 PM PST up reply actions

No

but what coach does?

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:47 PM PST up reply actions

Maybe not the word I'm looking for

But the Cards had some degree of stability when Whisenhunt was hired. There wasn’t much of a overhaul with the players, so he already knew what he had to work with.

I’m surprised Mike Smith isn’t in this conversation for what he did with the Falcons.

by aerozeppelin on Dec 6, 2009 7:50 PM PST up reply actions

Huh

But his hair is so white!

by Nate Dogg on Dec 6, 2009 7:52 PM PST up reply actions

That was a talented offense

and it added Turner and Ryan. I’m not sure how Smith should be credited for that.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:53 PM PST up reply actions

Cards also had a talented offense

I don’t see how Smith shouldn’t be credited for Matt Ryan’s development and emergence. Did everyone just expect him to become such a solid quarterback right away?

by aerozeppelin on Dec 6, 2009 7:57 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, but the Cards had a shit ton of talent

From being bad for so long. They just needed an HC to give them identity and direction.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 7:44 PM PST up reply actions

Well, sure

that’s what a coach does.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 7:44 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed

I suppose what I was trying to say is that I would like to see if he can build a team that lacks talent to begin with.

by DJ C-Raig on Dec 6, 2009 7:45 PM PST up reply actions

Spags.

It’s the holding on Delanie Walker in the endzone that really upset me. (And Bly got away with the same holding against Chicago.)

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

If you're a true Favre hater

A true, true hater with the ferocity of Sade and passion of a serial killer, this, this is truly the greatest possible way for Favre to go out: Picking his way to ruin on an overhyped sinking ship.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 8:28 PM PST reply actions

So be it

the Cardinals are good. Better Warner goes out on a good note.

by John Morgan on Dec 6, 2009 8:29 PM PST reply actions

Eh

Seahawks playoffs hopes being unrealistic anyway, I have to admit I was rooting for the Cards this game. I kinda like the Cards anyway…and while I don’t mind the Vikings as a franchise, it’s worth it to see Favre hopefully going into descent mode (took him till W12 with the Jets, so he’s early this year) just so people’ll shut up already.

Large hands tho
