Brian Robiskie Runs 4.51/4.49 Forty
The dream of him falling into the third is gone, but the fact that he's probably a steal in the second remains. Great size, great hands, great football mind and a great pedigree, at a young 22; Robiskie could be Tim Ruskell's yearly second round reach pick that looks like a no-brainer a season later.

He'll definitely be available in the early second; hence 'reach'.

That has been one of my main reasons for nitpicking at Ruskell.
It seems like he reaches too often. It’s like in fantasy basketball, I knew Kevin Durant would be a top 10 player. Does this mean I take him in the 1st round? No, I take him 5 picks before where everyone thinks he is rated, so early 3rd round.
It really depends on what the other GMs think or know though, since with guys like Tatupu and Carlson, they could’ve been unneccessary trade ups, or they could’ve been necessary, hard to tell since all it takes is one other guy who believes that the value of someone is high to make it seem like a ‘reach’ to everyone else.
That being said, I thought with some training, Robiskie would run a 4.42. Maybe he will at tOSU’s pro day.
apparently there were a couple of teams ready to draft Tatupu before our pre-trade pick
So he wouldn’t have been there without moving up, and I think that worked out.
Not that I’m a big fan of trading up either, it just seems like if Ruskell knows how to do anything, that’s it.
I did the same thing w/ Durant. :) (and Granger in the 2nd)
Pretty surprised w/ Robiskie’s time, myself. I still wonder how explosive he is. Solid, at this point, with our stable of average guys, is not ideal. I think we need more than that to change our offense. Game-breaker. Not ‘solid’. I could see him have a similar impact to Engram, which would not exactly be terrible.
I think you sorely underrate him
That time with that size is very impressive and I think he can become a deep threat in the NFL.
Maybe Muhsin Muhammad
A real solid all-around player that’s somewhere between a possession receiver and a true number one.

thx.
Cool. I’ve always liked Mushin (well, outside of his time as a Bear). My point is really this: we have some #2 WRs (Branch, Burleson). I think we need a true #1, unless we’re going w/ the Andy Reid theme of quantity vs. quality. That may work for them…
It worked pretty well for Hackett
4.5 40, good size, great vertical . . . this is all sounding very familiar. As long as he can stay healthy, it sounds like a good deal to me. Maybe we could trade up for a second pick in round #2 so we could still grab Chung as well?

Hackett was a 5th round pick though.
And pre-Ruskell.

Agreed with JM, his time is average, like most of our WRs
but his route running seems to be pretty good, and he’s tall and he has big hands. The latter two attributes seems to be something we don’t really have.
so you don't think there'll be any two for one reciever sales in april?
buy a crabtree, get a robiskie for free
seriously??
well shoot, he’ll probably be gone before our first pick. Looks like we’ll get stuck having to take Crabtree at 37, or do you think that’s a reach?

Robiskie vs. Nicks (NC)
Anyone got any good arguments for who the better prospect is, and why? It seems like either in the second or third round (if still available) would really help.
Never!

I don't see...yet....
how he projects much different than Michael Jenkins, drafted 29th overall. Quality #2 WR. If Robiskie can be a #1, I could be sold. Sure, he’d help, but it feels like we have a few #2-type WRs and no stud #1. Is BR that good?
Not from what I've seen, but John seems to think he can.

He has great work ethic, runs great routes, is a student of the game, and even has some size.
He isn’t a supreme athlete a la Megatron, but neither are/were Tory Holt and Marvin Harrison (and Robiskie has size on them too).
There’s nothing wrong with being an excellent route runner, especially when he should have the capability and desire to keep getting better.
