Detroit Lions Sign Maurice Morris to Three Years, Seven Million
Morris is an average running and an excellent receiving running back. At just seven million over three seasons, it's safe to say Detroit just signed a bargain. Morris is a young 29 and has only 604 total attempts over his career. Unlike most running backs approaching 30, Morris has looked stronger and more capable the last two seasons. It's sad to see one of the players who saved the 2007 season depart. Good luck in Detroit Mercury.

As much as I bad mouthed him over the years...
I wish nothing but the best for him going forward. Knock ’em dead in Detroit Mo Mo.

I feel terrible for his career.
Buried behind Alexander in his waning seasons, now reduced to this.

Signing a good back to a good contract could be a sign that things are turning around
Millen and Marinelli are gone after all, and everything I’ve heard on Schwartz has been really encouraging.
I'd love for that to happen.
Lions are my third favorite team behind the Hawks and Texans.

Good luck MoMo
I hope he does well, he deserves to start.

Gald to see him get paid.
I can’t remember where I read it … but one exception to the “+30yr old RB decline” is the smaller 3rd down back who has limited use early then develops into a guy who can carry the load for 3-4 seasons (i.e., Tiki Barber) I’m not saying I think Morris will break out into a superstar or anything – just that IMO he has a lot of production left in him. I always thought he was under-utilized here. If Holmgren had been able to handle even a limited RB rotation, it would have made the O even better back in the day, and maybe even have extended Shaun’s career.
Good luck Mo, and thanks for being one of the more under-appreciated ’Hawks over the years.
