Chiefs Sign WR Bobby Engram, Two Others

Hey everyone,

Chiefs fans are talking about signing Bobby Engram today. Can you guys drop by Arrowhead Pride and let us know more about Engram?

Thanks!

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with Bobby Engram, Monty Beisel and Terrance Copper.

Engram (5'10", 188 pounds) is a 13 year veteran wide receiver who has previously played with the Chicago Bears (5 years) and Seattle Seahawks (8 years). He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1996 draft and has amassed one 1,000 yard season in his career.

Beisel (6'3", 254 pounds) was originally drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 4th round of the 2001 NFL Draft.  The linebacker spent one season with the New England Patriots and three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Copper (6'0", 204 pounds) was undrafted before spending two years with the Dallas Cowboys, one and a half years with the New Orleans Saints and a half season with the Baltimore Ravens.

A place to bury strangers.

No way, send them to read us here!

Sorry, don’t feel like signing up for another site.

You’ll love Engram, he’s one of the best possession receivers in the game. A master at finding holes in opposing zone defenses.

There's a reason Matt Hasslebeck loved this guy.

He was always where he was supposed to be, always open and cutting slices through opposing defenses. He wasn’t terribly fast, or anything else athletic. But the guy just got open. I hate to use the words veteran savvy because they are so overused, but they actually apply here.

I should temper that statement with

the fact that Engram doesn’t know KC’s offense. His effectiveness here was based around his knowledge of our system inside and out. So Matt could trust him implicitly. But now he’s somewhere new. If he develops a similar rapport with his QB, he’ll be effective. If he has a problem learning the offense or fails to develop a rapport with his QB, he’ll struggle.

Him and Cassel will be learning the offense together

That gives them plenty of time to develop some sort of rapport. This is a good signing for KC, Engram paired with Gonzo and Bowe makes for an awesome upgrade for them.
